Its still quite viable, but I would make sure to use a mace shield version with softcapped s/l/e as energy damage is just to prevalent to ignore.

 

I'd use this build I just made with the sniper changes in mind and not taking rune:

 

Edit: definitely use the clarion core destiny and the radial assault hybrid and I'd also suggest the reactive interface. On a farm or when you are sure you will not be mezzed go, you can use the ageless destiny.

I created a defender version of this and it got me thinking if there might be a way to make a corruptor fire/kin softcapped to M/R. Turns out there is. You do make sacrifices in not having RoF (not that big a deal imo), and in recharge.

So, for most builds water blast and fire blast are easily switchable and for all the builds in here that is also true, except the last one I posted with the melee and ranged softcap. The only reason that is possible is due to having access to 3 pbaoes (thats why we chose dark mastery, we dont care about soul drain as a power, our dmg is already capped, but that extra pbaoe slotting matters for us). 

 

Edit: This may not be true you might be able to do it with boxing and cross punch.

Why boxing and cross punch? Just for sets? I already made a build by the way; it has trash ST damage and it's a few tiny percentages off a few of your defenses and recharge, but overall it seems to work fine for buffing and AoE.

This will work just fine, if you wanted the energy def to be fully capped you could take one annihilation proc out of whirlpool (it won't proc much anyway) and add it to water jet and use thunderstrike in waterjet, but energy is close enough that I wouldn't worry about it.

 

Yes, cross punch and boxing would be taken for the bonuses only.

Do you have any idea why they don't use pistols and instead use piercing rounds I find the thin cone on piercing rounds only ever hits like one person I don't use it alot  but if it's better than I think it is that be great to know and Pistol seems like a pretty good instapower that's always on and does decent damage any info will help thanks again I appreciate everthing

So, I'm not at my computer right now so I can't check, but I think piercing rounds has better dps. If it doesn't, the reason I used it in this build is for the set bonus (it might be both reasons). I believe that build is softcapped to melee and range.

So, I would argue that that build is probably better than any expensive build you'll find. The amount of survivability that being softcapped gives you is huge and your damage is always going to be capped because you are a kin (other than a super proc'd build, but it's not worth the survivability loss in my opinion). A more expensive build would have more recharge, but you'll already have huge amounts of recharge coming from siphon speed and all the FF procs and again I don't think the extra recharge is worth the survivability loss. Just my two cents.

Destiny=Clarion core or Ageless (if you are facing non-CCing enemies)

Lore= up to you

Judgement= ion or pyro (I like pyro because of the cast time)

Hybrid= assault radial (for the double hit as it is the only way to do more damage for a kin)

I used Darkir's build as a base and modified it to my personal tastes with focusing more on defense bonuses for overall PVE play and less on resists which is more farming oriented.

  • Soft capped to S/L/E and Ranged defense.   Being capped to smash/lethal is practically the same as being melee softcapped because almost all melee attacks have a smash or lethal component
    • Softcaps without need to +level  boost the IOs so you can attune all the IOs to keep set bonuses for lower level pay
    • - Stilll needs Agility Core Paragon Alpha Slot 
  • Siphon power is replaced by superspeed because
    • I like to have a travel power and not rely on mobs for siphon speed
    • You gain invisibility with SS and sprint slotted with stealth IO which allows you to stealth missions more easily
    • Gives extra power to slot Blessing of the Zephyr to get range defense bonus
    • Getting rid of siphon power makes playing kinetics slightly less busy.... but I would take siphon power before you get fulcrum shift.
  • Added Apocalypse proc in Snipe
  • Removed procs from fireball and rain of fire because I don't think the low proc chance is worth it in these powers.  Moved those slots to recharge siphon speed and fulcrum shift faster.
  • Adds Max HP IO
  • Moved slots powers around to be more excemplar friendly
  • -Speedboost slotted with extra speed from Blessing of Zephyr may make some teammates hate you but they can always go to Null the Gull to cancel the effect.

Today I learned two things:

 

1. I can solo an ITF at +4x8 with bosses with a specialized fire/kin/dark corruptor build.

 

2. I never want to try solo a hard TF like this again.

 

I have not faceplanted this much since live in the before IO days. Thank god I had the dark Rez. It still took me an embarrassing amount of time to solo it. I admit that a big part of this was being unfamiliar with where the generals were, the mission objectives, positioning, the AV fights (when you are in a team you don't have to know) etc. but Nictus dwarves also completely F me up and so the second mission was a huge slog. I didn't have rune of protection in the build because I thought I could get by with T4 Clarion, but my resistance to negative is only 22-24% so the damage they did to me alone was very painful. Then add on top of that the -recharge debuffs the Nictus inflict and I just couldn't heal through it so I died. So, I switched to T4 barrier, well then I got stunned and died. I actually had the most luck with T4 ageless, maybe because it was getting around the debuffs? I finally made it through the second mission and went on to the third, but had trouble finding the generals (I'm normally in teams of 8 that just kill everything). Then I get to the two AVs, I pulled Romulus and I just barely managed to get through the Regen with the -max hp interface on Romulus (fight was much better once I finally struggled and inched him down to 30% hp and started getting some scourge). Romulus constantly ran away making me use siphon speed more to stop him from running so far, eating into my dps. That fight still took sooooo long. Then on to Requiem and that was another hugely long fight with running and stuns, me dying, and switching to Clarion again. Then the last mission, kill a bunch of traitors? No problem, super quick. Kill Nictus buffed Romulus? Omfg never again. I refuse.

 

Adding to all of this was me dying on the AV fights and having to go back and try all over again. This was absurdly difficult for me to do, this was also the first time I have ever tried to solo any AV or TF with a toon (well I did solo an AV on a stalker on live before IOs, but that was only because I didn't understand what the difficulty settings meant). Anyway, thought I'd share that I did it here, but never again. Never again.

This thread and the FIRE/KIN and ICE/KIN builds are very  interesting.  But it reminded me that back on live RAD/KINs used to be a thing.  They seem to have gone the way of fire/kin controllers only more so as at least you see one of those every so often on Homecoming.  Are Rad/Kins no longer viable?
