So, we have power pools focused around making you or others less noticeable, (concealment), and more noticeable, (presence, except for pacify). I think it'd be great if we had a power pool that centered around misdirecting or otherwise misleading your enemies. To that end, I present "Misdirection": 1. Distraction - A simple power that has your character throw a rock or some other object at a targeted location. This power, (possibly via a pseudopet), generates a short lived taunt effect that lures enemies to the targeted location. 2. Forged Credentials - This click power, for a very short period of time, makes a single targeted enemy friendly to you. 3. Falsified Orders - This power, which targets a specific enemy, very briefly marks them as hostile to their allies, thereby getting them to attack said enemy, (kind of the reverse of a confusion power). Would only work on LTs or lower. 4. Clever Disguise - This toggle power would work similar to stealth, effectively making enemies non-hostile to you. 5. Infighting - This AoE power would work similarly to a confuse power, causing a group of lower-tier enemies to fight among themselves.

Whitecap why? (aint nuthin but a heart break...)
biostem replied to luxlorica's topic in General Discussion
Rad blast gets irradiate at 2, elec blast gets short circuit at 10, and, yes, several others get a PBAoE T9... -
With the release of the marine support set, it got me thinking - we can certainly make some very skimpy outfits for our characters, but what about a more tasteful smimsuit that *doesn't* look like someone simply wearing bodypaint, (mainly referring to female characters, here). There's the pair of shorts that could work, but I'd love to see it get some nice patterns, and perhaps some tops that actually look like cloth over the character's top, (the barbarian one is more like lingerie, IMO)...

Whitecap why? (aint nuthin but a heart break...)

There are many PBAoE powers in the blast sets that these ATs also get access to, yet there doesn't seem to have been a peep made... -
New Mastermind powerset: Elemental summoning
biostem replied to Jay24's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm not against an elementalist MM primary. The issue isn't even the models to use - it's attaching the AI and upgrade schemes. If there's one thing CoH will never want for, it's ways to create a character model that fits a theme... -
It's far simpler than you're making it out to be; it's because the game draws heavily from 80s-era pop culture - look at "The Warriors"...
-
They'd almost have to take up a chest detail or cape slot to work...
-
If I had to guess, I'd say it's because it's ever so slightly bulkier than the base chest and has those corrugated shoulders...

Why not just visit the forums? 😉
-
They should do something like Pocket D, there there's some random enemies and civilians...
-
As a work-around, couldn't you create a base on 1 character, share the entry code *only* with your alts, then have the main SG on that alt?
-
Well... someone wants to live on "The Grid"! 😉

They could give the powers that weird split-second hold like sentinel fire blast's blazing blast power has. I don't think it'd be that good, and may in fact break many other things...

I think it's be too complicated to try and track what powers which enemies used recently, to produce specific effects. I'm not against the idea, but I think it'd need to be a bit more straightforward in its implementation... Let's start with the basics: 1. What damage type would it deal? From my understanding, when matter and antimatter meet, the resulting annihilation produces large amounts of radiation. In CoH, radiation deals energy damage, so let's go with that. 2. I like the annihilation effect - it's kind of similar to beam rifle's disintegration effect. When an antimatter blast hits a target, give it a chance of triggering said "annihilation effect". This could deal a small AoE burst of energy, potentially knocking enemies back/down, or perhaps reducing their damage resistance. 3. Besides the effects mentioned above, what would differentiate this set from other blast sets? Kirby dots?

The issue with leadership is that those crosshair, shields, etc, surrounding your character are *not* the actual power - those are present on any character with the buffs on them. The little burst effect and hand-to-chest animation are from the actual power. I don't think you can actually eliminate those, unless there was some kind of global "Don't display buff FX" option...

Use Ouroboros to go back and play all the low- to mid-level content, and all the other storylines you didn't get around to on your first go-round...
-
You are certainly free to suggest whatever you like, but, unless I'm misremembering things, your MM is not, themselves, a ninja - they are the leader, which is why you support your minions with a bow and arrow, and they are the ones that use martial arts/swords, caltrops, and stealth... That being said, play a character with the full archery blast set - things like the explosive or flaming arrow have a lot more oomph!

Then I'd probably go with an energy/energy blaster. You could then take the Mace Mastery PPP for an energy shield, and perhaps boxing, tough, and weave if you wanted to further bolster his durability.

Training Options: Powers vs Enhancement Slots
biostem replied to Perma-Newbie's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I could, perhaps, see this as an option after like level 35, where a character could be reasonably expected to be well fleshed out... -
Further, this doesn't take into consideration things like being stealthy due to subtle psionic abilities that make others simply not notice you, or something like optical camouflage or maybe even some sort of limited phasing that makes you harder to detect; it's not always about size or camouflage patterns as we find IRL. Similarly, what if the very small character glowed brightly, or maybe was extremely hot or cold, and gave off highly detectable/noticeable radiation? Or, what if *my* character can detect life or maybe just the differences in temperature or composition between someone hiding and the background or environment they are hiding against/in...

Some other "great ideas": > Bright colors on your costume? -stealth > Sharp lines/edges on your costume or any glow effects? -stealth > Any exposed skin? -defense -damage resistance +damage taken from environmental hazards > No eye protection? +chance to be blinded > No mouth accessory/gas mask/filtration system? +damage take from environmental hazards and instant death in any space zone or those without air >Heels/stiletto shoes? +chance of falling down >No helmet? +chance of being stunned >No reinforced gloves? +chance of breaking your hands when punching Are we playing a superhero game or do we want this to be a real life simulator?

So if we limited powersets to only certain origins, that'd be good because it's different than how things are now? You think being smaller wouldn't have any bearing on your ability to sneak or otherwise evade detection? No, the idea is that your powers determine what you can or cannot do, not your height, weight, gender, or origin. NOT restricting things based upon real-world limitations, (real or imaginary), is the more imaginative and inventive path to take, and one that was chosen by the original dev team...
