My dark/dark has been soloing 0x6 to 0x8 ever since around level 30 or so(she is 49 now). Twilight's Grasp is a decent heal. You have a hold, tar patch. The heal debuffs regen, and tar patch debuffs damage resistance, so it's a nice combo on harder enemies. Bunch of cones...but I love them. Fearsome Stare, drop tar patch, Tenebrous tentacles to immobilize everyone. Then spam your aoe cones while using your single target hold and attacks on the bosses. Everything is dead by the time tar patch expires. The -tohit that pretty much all the dark blast has, is basically like +def for you, so you rarely get hit. The dark pet procs a hold, and heal every onec in awhile to supplement your own. The cones do usually require some running around to position yourself, but I kind of like that its an active movement set. Anyways, just my input on the topic

That's why I always choose Male Face 2.

City of Heroes vs. Champions Online - The Data

I couldn't get into the other Superhero games. I gave CO a chance both before and after CoH shutdown. I just didn't like it. Once I found out CoH was back, it was like a dream come true! Long live City of Heroes! π -
Everyday when I login, Iβm just so thankful to be able to play this game. When it shut down, it was like there was something missing for me, and never did get replaced. Itβs just such a joy to be able to play CoH again. On Live, the monthly subscription was a bill I had to pay, but on Homecoming - donating to keep the servers up feels like a blessing.

When fighting Skyraiders, and the Raider Engineer manages to summon the Forcefield generator before you kill him...

Anyone else put crazy limitations on themselves while playing? A few I've done since returning back to CoH... 1)Wouldn't allow myself to make a single Alt, until my old Main from Live was level 50 on Homecoming. 2)Current character (31 dark/dark defender) is not using anything from P2W vendor, no double xp, no farms, no AE. Just story Arcs, and the occasional Event Team like Nemesis Invasions, Winter Lord, etc. Pretty much Story Arcs only for her. 3)Not allow myself to play after midnight, cuz I know that is just gonna end up in the "Just one more mission syndrome" and next thing you know its 6am. π Anyone else do anything similar?

Ya, I never noticed it being OP. But I'm only level 30 now, and my main enemies lately are Sky Raiders, Tsoo, Freakshow, Warriors etc...and against normal mobs, Lt's etc...I havent noticed anything crazy about it.

Well a lot of your empathy powers work only on others, so arent so great for you solo. You will get 30% dmg boost as a Defender while soloing, however. I notice you havent taken Explosive Blast. That will help you. Explosive Blast is HIGH damage power that is TAoE, and will be readily available, as it's base recharge is 16 seconds. The Fighting Pool, with Tough and Weave will help you a lot, as smash/lethal is pretty common among enemy groups. You'll have to use your energy powers to best effect to keep enemies flying around with the Knockback. You can change this to Knockdown with the Overwhelming Force or Sudden Acceleration knockback to knockdown IO. For more Oomph, try slotting some of your offensive or area attacks with Procs that have a chance of doing additional damage. Power burst isnt slotted for damage at all. Neither is sniper blast. If you want to kill things...you'll have to move some slots from your Empathy powers etc to your offensive powers. The higher you can get your defence, the less enemies will hit you, which will keep you alive. Slot your damaging attacks with whatever you can that allows you to kill enemies quickly. Your offensive attacks are currently slotted with 3x dmg, or 1 acc, 2dmg etc. Throw some procs in there, amd maybe even some recharge reductions on some of your longer recharging powers to get them up more often. You shouldnt have too much issue with Endurance thanks to Recovery Aura, etc. Don't forget about Inspirations. They drop frequently, and are meant to be used. Just about to fight a boss- pop a purple, red, yellow, orange etc...to give you an edge. Even outright buy the medium and large ones from the auction house etc to give you the most bang for your inspiration slots. Leadership powers are a good choice for a defender. Anything that increases your damage, defence, etc is going to increase your chances of survival.

Sometimes I duo with another Defender. We call ourselves the Dynamic Defender DPS Duo! π
-
Yes, I had one on Live, but now with the Defender damage boost while solo, it's even better. I remember it being strong at high levels, but this is the first time I am finding it so easy at lower levels, also.

Defender DPS is best DPS! My level 29 dark/dark defender is currently soloing at +0x5, and having a blast. I actually do feel like a blaster sometimes. Well, maybe more like a controller. Actually I feel like every archetype rolled into one! After I lock down everyone with fearsome stare, tar patch, tenebrous tentacles, and start hitting them with Night Fall etc, enemies just melt. Solo, ya the 30% damage boost does help a lot, but this is the most fun I've had with a character for awhile. The Defender DPS is real, yo! π

Sometimes it's simply a matter of time. Pick some arbitrary numbers....If I can do 500 dps, and the AV regen's 400/s....it's going to take a lot longer to defeat them. It's possible to do it without the Daggers usually. As long as you can survive, and can out dps their regen...eventually you should defeat them. but whether that takes ten minutes or 100 minutes...is the question. lol.

I generally use the Envenomned Dagger for the regen debuff. On characters who have some type of regen debuff in their powers already, I don't use any temp powers on AVs.

Random thing that happened today that is SOOOO CoH
wolfshadow31 posted a topic in General Discussion
Ok, so I am flying around torchbearer today on my level 15 dark/dark defender. I'm purposely not using double xp, and P2W vendor powers, no AE etc etc. Her bio pretty much says no farms, etc, and leveling the old skool way. So queue random message from another player. "Want to team up?" - other player "Sure. What are you working on?" - Me "Oh. something a level 15 could help with." - other player "Oh ok. I'm doing Twinshot's second arc."-Me "I was thinking something more like flashback in oro."-other player "Ok. Lets try some missions." - Me Ok, so after the other player came and let me get into oro, since I didnt have the badge yet, he starts dropping Defender ATOs into my inventory. "Um ok. Wasnt expecting that. Whats up?" -Me "Oh just thought you could use them. The bonuses are pretty great." -other player Ok...so he gives me a full set of 6 Defender's Bastion ATO's, and a few unslotters because I explained I didnt have any power that had six slots avaialable yet. At most my powers have 2-3 slots each. "Just slot them where you can now, and then unslot them when you need to" - other player. So anyhoo, I was pretty speechless. But this type of thing was pretty common in the old days from my experience. and I was glad to see that cooperative and generous spirit alive and well on Homecoming.- 15 replies

I guess you were both right. I just beat it today, solo, and it only took about 90 seconds to get him down. He was classified as "Monster", not "Giant Monster" like I thought. All that worrying for nothing! lol
-
My MA/SR scrapper has solo'd the first 5 for the TF commander accolade. I've got Numina up next. I'm not sure how well that will play out with the Giant Monster at the end...lol. My def and res arent really a problem, but even with the envenomned daggers, not sure how well I'll be able to dps the GM down. My current plan, is to buy and email myself a ton of lg red insps, to claim via the in game mail during the battle. Should work...to cap my dps to be able to do it. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box on these solo TFs! So basically, if you already feel comfortable soloing Archvillains...you prolly wont have an issue with the first few TFs. I'm doing these on a fully IO'd 50 scrapper, exemp'd down to requisite levels...and my only single death so far was on Manticore's. While fighting Countess Crey, and the resurrected Hopkins at the same time, I ended up dying. Came back in...dps'd Countess down, then focused on Hopkins again. Good luck!

I remember taking hover specifically for the hollows missions, and 3 slotting it with flight speed enhancements. It was faster than sprint! π

Who else did it? Who else remade their main?
wolfshadow31 replied to StoneColdJoker's topic in General Discussion
I remade mine. And I forced myself to not make any alts at all, until he got to level 50. He was pretty muchT3 in all his incarnates before I made a second character. -
I use custom bind to always target nearest enemy, which I generally use on the majority of mob spawns. 99% of the time that is who I want to target anyways. In cases where there is a boss, I target them manually first, then go back to my usual targeting bind. I find it works most of the time. There are exceptions tho...like with Malta sappers, or Carnies....I generally seem to manually target Illusionists, Ring Mistresses etc first...then clear the trash after .

I love Civilization games, but Sid Meier's Colonization is pretty high up on my all time favourite games too.

City of Heroes Things you find annoying

You can disable this in Options. Auto-accept level changes above by: 0-50. And Auto-accept level changes below by:0-50. Just move the sliders to your preference and never be bothered with the popup windows again.
