That depends completely on the faction populating the map and the map hazards. Like CoT maps with their plethora of pain crystals in the middle of hallways and intersections? I ahve to go through. Longbow Wardens with their non-toggle spine bursts populating maps? I have to slip by them in narrow halls on a regular basis. I get what you are saying, but I wholeheartedly disagree. Non-combat defense bonuses serve to help keep your stealthy character stealthed when you have to slip by something and you don't want to fight it.
-
If all you do is look at how powers work in combat, then you completely ignore the other benefits and themes of lots of powers. Hide's non-combat defense bonuses, like Stealth's non-combat defense bonus, work to help you sneak around without losing your stealth to random mobs with AoE effects or map hazards. Too much emphasis is given to how powers work to make it harder for enemies to hit you in combat or how powers make it easier to defeat enemies in combat, and the non-combat elements of the game are getting dumped on because of it.
-
That non-combat only +37.5% AoE defense means you can slip by AoE effects that would render others visible, so you maintain Hide. It makes you a better sneak. That isn't minor.
-
39.38% AoE defense (in Mids and in game) or 39.375% AoE Defense (in City of Data) is considered a minor convenience?! To who?! (Edit: And that is straight level 1 Stalker Hide with nothing slotted anywhere.) Edit again: Hide grants a base 1.88% defense out of the box. That gets modified by 3.75% for select defenses other than AoE which is +37.5%. So even Hide's base defense bonus is equal to Stealth's. (It just has additional defense buffs stacked on top of its base defense bonus.) (This data was pulled directly from the game. I made a brand new Stalker to check Hide's stats.) Edit yet again: I also don't see the devs agreeing to put a placate effect in a travel power. All you would have to do is leave your travel power on and you would constantly be placating enemies during combat. Unless you made it a click, at which point it stops being a feasible travel power. Teleport works as a click because you have to place the marker for where you want to teleport to and each click sends you 350 feet away.

I'm not on the beta servers, so I have no idea if they are doing anything differently. However, here is a screenshot of where those pieces are on the live servers.

Snipers already ignore stealth. And several high level factions have snipers. And I can't recount the number of times my stealthy characters had to fight through the entire map because seemingly 2/3s of the spawns on the map included a sniper. (Edit again: And enemies that grant each other +Perception also see through stealth. And you can find those as low as the RIP in Mercy Island. Though fortunately, the RIP typically only trigger it when they start combat.) Stealthing a mission is a valid strategy. And players like me have characters that are built around stealth in all its various forms available to us in the game because we envisioned having sneaky characters like Batman, Gambit, Wolverine (when he has a mind to not eviscerate everything dumb enough to be in his path) and so many other heroes and villains in comics. This post reads to me like you want to take that away from us. And you're right about there not being any purpose to going deeper than one stealth power. I used to have characters that used multiple stealth powers. Hells, I still have one character with multiple stealth powers because I could not bring myself to respec out of them when the devs decided to make most stealth powers no longer stack. I really like having a Stalker that ran Hide, Stealth, and a stealth proc. I really got a kick out of sitting in the hero base in Siren's Call back on Live as a rogue and watching the heroes run all over the place until someone finally made use of the +Perception the drones gave them to finally notice the Stalker standing in the corner. Bring back stealth as a stacking effect and you'll see players taking multiple stealth powers again.

But it's not Tough or Weave. True, it's a Tier 1 pool power and those are Tier 2/3, but it's much more end expensive than Combat Jumping or Hover. I do not think it unreasonable for it to have an in-combat benefit besides minor defense at that cost. Stealth isn't supposed to be directly beneficial in combat. It's purpose is to avoid combat. That is why it reduces the range at which enemies can perceive you and reduces your threat to further hinder them from attacking you. And if they attack you, it still gives you improved defense so you can keep moving on, or reduced defense after that first attack if you stand and fight. It does a lot. (Edit: And before anyone tries to "correct" me about Stealth's defense, please note I said "that first attack" and not "your first attack".)

I'm sorry, but I'm not following. Infiltration gives +764.5% jump height, +150.645% jump speed, +1000% movement control, +200% movement friction, +154% running speed, sets the user to hidden attack state, 36 ft. stealth radius, and +1.875% defense per City of Data. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=pool.invisibility.invisibility&at=scrapper In Mids it gives 7.65% jump height and 2.13% defense with no mention of movement control or friction as the differences from City of Data. In game, Infiltration says it gives +764.5% jump height, +150.65% jump speed, +154% run speed, +1.75% defense, and +3600% stealth radius. In game data says Athletic Run gives +695% jump height, +139.95% jump speed, +140% running speed. Mids is the only place I can find non-formulaic data on the stealth IOs, and it says 30 ft stealth. So Infiltration stomps Athletic Run + stealth IO. So my question is, what is the complaint about it? Edit: Also, what is wrong with a Mag 4 15 second 20 ft. radius placate? It stops everything from attacking you for 15 seconds, giving you ample time to pop some inspirations or run away or set up to resume combat if needed, and also debuffs the affected targets' resistances by 11.25% for 20 seconds. So you have an extra 5 seconds longer than the placate effect to make use of the lowered damage resistance. (Edit again: And further in Misdirection's favor, Hide needs 8 seconds of no combat to trigger and your enemies are placated for 15 seconds. More than long enough for Hide to kick back in. And then when you AS out of it, you still have 12 seconds of reduced enemy damage resistance to murder them through.)

Nope. Just checked. Regardless of whether I was a villain or a rogue, Null told me my Dimensional Warder progress. (Edit: And my test character had never been a hero or vigilante, let alone started progress on the badge, so it wasn't a hold over menu option.)

My list of most needed additions to the wardrobe

The form fitting part won't work for skirts longer than short because of how the models work. They will break as the character moves. Yeah, pretty much. You can still find faux fur coats though. Hand carried or worn over shoulder? As a chest detail worn over the shoulder, it could work. (Edit: Scratch that. Worn over the shoulder on the side, the arm would clip right through it constantly.) They break in the game because of how the models work. Extreme amounts of clipping. It didn't start out that way, but it did go free to play. And the HC team already stated they are keeping their current model for game development.- 1 reply

This should be posted here: You can find this thread on the Bug Reports forum. This should at least be posted on the Bug Reports forum. Though it may instead fall under the Report Costumes Issues Here thread. And if you know something is a bug, then why are you posting it as part of a suggestion thread?

The game does not adjust capitalization based on context. It simply pulls the preset name/data. So "The Skulls" will be used as "The Skulls are attacking the warehouse." and as "We have knowledge about The Skulls hideout.", with no means of changing whether or not that "the" is capitalized or not. It simply loads the preset name into the assigned text's name variable/string. This is a very old game on an ancient game engine. It is limited in what it can do.

Well, until shoulder pieces get access to interior color settings, all I can say is make note of the colors you have on your costume pieces, link the colors, change the colors to recolor the shoulder piece interior, unlink the colors, and then restore your other colors from your notes. I agree that it needs an interior color setting, but until then, that would be your best option.

No. MMs get 6 total pets yes, but they devote 5 of their 9 powers to get them and fully utilize them. Whereas Controllers have 1 power and get their fully developed pets. So, again, no. (Edit: And Controller pets use a higher scalar than MM pets do as well. So doubly no.) Edit again: Besides, do you really want 6 pets at -5 levels to you?

To use the sybil outfit, go to the Upper Body section and where it says Tight as an option, scroll down on that menu and you will find Sybil Tight and Sybil with Skin as the bottom 2 choices.

You're right, you're not an automaton and Hero 1, Statesman, Recluse, and Reischman were all able to go about their daily lives for the most part. However, like you said, Statesman was careful about his power acquisition because the Well could already take control of him whenever it wanted and he didn't want to reach the point of puppet extension, Recluse was trying to find ways to grow his power that didn't involve the Well and was desperately trying to find a way to free himself, and Hero 1 stopped seeking power because he felt he had enough to do what needed to be done. (And Hero 1 was the only NPC incarnate the Well had any respect for.) However, the Well did possess the ability to simply seize control of any of those NPC incarnates whenever it wanted, and that is something that players that choose to take the fast path must contend with. That since they aren't drawing power from the well as much as the Well is simply imbuing them with power, they don't get to choose their incarnate powers. That is not to say that the player should face getting incarnate abilities that they don't benefit from, after all, the Well wants capable servants, so they should at least get incarnate powers of benefit to their AT, but they won't get their choice, they get the game's choice. And depending on what the player's character does, they should face the risk of losing control of their character for however long the Well decides to directly use them for its own goals. Which would be very problematic in things like iTrials since they are all going against the Well's favored avatar/champion: Tyrant. (Edit: Except for the Underground iTrial....) So like with Recluse, when the Well decides to take over, you lose access to that character while the game plays that character as appropriate towards accomplishing whatever background task the game assigned. Even if it means leaving a mission, TF/SF, or trial to go do something else while they are still going. How often will that happen? I don't know, however often the random chance the devs assigned is triggered. And because the player did choose to surrender their character to the Well, even if they can get a mission to get free, it should be of monumental difficulty to reflect their struggle to get free. With failure resulting in loss of that opportunity and no new opportunities for an appropriate amount of time. You surrendered to the Well, tried to break free, and failed, you don't get to keep retrying until the Well stops paying attention to you for trying to get free. And it should be a solo task only because it is your ordeal/struggle against the Well to break your chains. (And if you do, you retain access to the incarnate slots you background unlocked and the granted powers to slot again when you unlock their slot again if you did not already unlock them normally in the background.)
-
That throws out established lore about the Well and taking the fast path, but if the devs are for it, then whatever. Though I still say the player does not get to choose their powers and until they break free the game should randomly take control of their character and play it, even leaving missions currently being done to go do whatever else the Well wants done until that task is done. Edit: If players want to take the fast path? Congrats, you are a full T4'ed for all 10 original incarnate power slots even though 4 don't yet exist, but you get no choice as to your powers and you lose control of your character whenever the game feels like. Edit again: And because you chose to surrender yourself to the Well, if you do get a mission to get free, it is a solo mission against full incarnated foes of at least player levels of power, and if you fail it such as by suffering defeat, you lose access to gaining your freedom for at least 1 real time week.
-
I understand that, but @Greycat's proposal overlooks what the Well did to Recluse, why Recluse was so desperate to free himself (and always failed), and just to what extent the Well takes control of your character. Edit: Basically if you take the fast path, you surrender yourself to the Well and there is no getting free of its control. Even the slow path carries a risk of the Well gaining control over your character, but you can fend it off. You can't ever get free on the fast path and are relegated to Well puppet. Edit again: Also, if you choose the fast path, you shouldn't get to choose your incarnate powers. After all, you surrendered yourself to the Well to achieve power as fast as possible, so the Well gets to decide what powers you get. And since the Well can take control of your character whenever it wishes, it should be able to randomly simply take control of the character away from the player and then have the game play the character until the Well's goal(s) have been achieved. Things I don't think any player are going to accept for their characters, but that is very much what the game tells us the fast path does.
-
The problem with the fast path is evidenced by Recluse as part of that arc (if you are playing a villain or rogue). Whenever the Well wants, it just takes control of you. (Edit: And is also explained by Lady Grey in case you're not a villain or rogue. The fast path makes your character a puppet of the Well with autonomy only when the Well chooses to let you.) That renders your character an NPC, which is why players are forced into the slow path.

In the Stop the Tsoo Mercy Killings incarnate mission from Ephram Sha, the Tsoo hostages run for the next Tsoo spawn even if you have no stealth powers active and are standing right next to them all through the fight including when you drop the last mob from the captive spawn. Edit: And then one of the freed captives ran through a wall and is standing outside the map where I can't retrieve her. Edit again: I guess it doesn't matter since they don't need to be led out, but it would be nice to not have them run through walls and stand there or run to more enemies and stand there.

Check where your portal is. If it is sunk into the floor, elevate it. Also, use /stuck to get free before you enter the editor. (Edit: If the portal is not sunk into the floor, then depending on what server you are on, I or someone else can take a look to see if we can see what is causing the issue.)

Huh. I sit corrected. Thank you.

I appreciate the shout out, but what is the shout out for? You know, you can just place "the" in your character name and it will be posted in those comments? "The" isn't normally considered part of the character's name. Even Thing, Hulk, and others, the "the" part isn't normally needed, even in the cases where you are specifying "the" should be included. Is it more grammatically correct? Yes in several cases. However, it isn't necessary. So if you want your character to be known as "The Panzercrator" and be referenced as such rather than having a "the" name addition which is there for clarification purposes, just put it in your name.
