Focused Feedback: Power Changes (Build 1)
PeregrineFalcon replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Meh. Some IOs and a Force Field Defender can turn my Blaster into a Tank. Heck, I could even pick up provoke if I wanted to. Neither of which change the fact that a pre-Granite Stone Tank isn't nearly as tough as my Invulnerability Tank. I'm not saying that pre-Granite should be as tough as Granite, but it should be at least in the neighborhood of Invulnerability. -
Focused Feedback: Power Changes (Build 1)
PeregrineFalcon replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I tried out pre-Granite Stone Armor. Loved it! Now if the stats would just get bumped up a bit so that Stone Armor vs Granite would be a legitimate choice that one could make... Also, I didn't really notice the difference in FX on Rooted, except in the costume creator power customization screen. The 'boots' on Rooted were a few feet (no pun intended) off to the side of my character instead of on the character's legs and feet. -
Honestly I think the best way to improve Ignite isn't to remove the fear effect, but to cause it to light the target on fire. That way they take damage, catch on fire, get afraid and run away, but they continue to take the same amount of Fire DoT they would have taken had they stayed in the Ignite patch. Bonus points if the devs are able to add an emote where the target waves his arms around and screams like people do when they're on fire. Perhaps the could use the sound file that Carnies use when they are defeated.

Pool Powers / hasten / epics / thoughts
PeregrineFalcon replied to Incursion's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
While I agree that Hasten is so powerful that it can seem mandatory, and perhaps too powerful for a pool power, I disagree with making it an inherent power. I have a lot of characters that have Hasten and a lot that don't. My Willpower Tanker and my Force Field Defender literally cannot benefit from Hasten. However, the fact that it is so powerful for some builds is exactly why I think that choosing it should come with a cost. Right now the cost is that it takes up a power slot in your build and uses up one of your pool power slots. Personally I wouldn't be adverse to seeing it nerfed a bit or having a bit of a downside introduced. Perhaps a higher endurance cost? I think that Scrappers, Tankers and Stalkers are all in a good place now. I don't think that any of them require additional buffs, which is what your proposed change essentially is. Agreed. A 15 second duration is ridiculous for a power that's supposed to be Epic. Perhaps bumping it up to 60 seconds to match Rune of Protection's new duration. I too love the new Energy Melee. My main since live is Energy Melee. But I think that Energy Melee is supposed to suck at AoE. The current version certainly accomplishes that so I don't see the need for any more changes. Now this is something that I'd love to see. Pistol attacks for my Martial Arts Scrapper. A couple of sword attacks for my Defender. Yeah, I could definitely love this option! I don't think it's in as bad a place as some make it out to be. It definitely needs something though. Perhaps some scaling Damage Resistance or some Absorption? And no. I'm not trying to insult or troll you. This is my honest opinion. And, you might have noticed, that I actually agree with many of your suggestions. -
< shrug emote > It makes sense to keep the discussion all in the same thread. Besides, it's not like Stone Armor has been updated since the first post.

My one wish would be for contacts to never become unavailable until after you've played all of their content. Once you've out leveled it then entering the mission would SK you down to the max level of the mission, much like TF's do. That way I could play all of the content without having to deal with Ouroboros. Especially since not all story arcs are in there.

Powers aren't balanced individually, they're balanced as part of the entire set. That's why it's ok that most of Energy Melee is sub-par because Energy Transfer hits like speeding truck. Same with Broadsword and Head Splitter. I think most of the smashing/lethal sets are fine. You're probably right about Archery and Assault Rifle though. They definitely need something.
-
What Tyrannical said about Dual Pistols. And Claws supposedly makes up for the lesser damage with all of the AoE. Actually, you might have a point about Claws.
-
What I'm saying is that I thought that Broadsword and Katana were supposed to do less damage than other sets by design, via the increased prevalence of Lethal Resistance in enemies, and the balancing factor was that they have Parry. And Assault Rifle is just F-ed because the devs hate Assault Rifle. 😄
-
If I want more damage I can go with Fire or Energy Melee. If I want more defense then I can go with Broadsword/Katana. I always figured that balance was done on purpose by the devs.

Thoughts on a recharge speed inspiration?
PeregrineFalcon replied to BLVD's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well, the problem with that statement is that several people have provided some pretty sound reasoning as to why it would be bad. Not saying that I agree with them, just saying that there's been some math in this thread, and it's been explained. Nah, I'm not indignant. I don't think you're a radical. I think we're just having a discussion. No matter what gets said here we're still two guys who love City of Heroes. Everything else is just unimportant details. Peace. -
Account VIP Status, Epic ATs, etc
PeregrineFalcon replied to Zantorialt's topic in General Discussion
I used to do it fairly regularly when I first started playing on Homecoming. When I got to the Frostfire mission I'd advertise it in the LFG channel. I'd have a full team within a minute. Back on live my friends and I would do the Atlas Park Safeguard mission, get the jet pack, and then go to The Hollows and do the story arcs there. The Hollows hasn't been scary dangerous since then, and that started when Safeguards went live with Issue 7. -
In my experience debuffs aren't nearly as common in game as they are talked about on the forums. However I have seen teams with multiple Tactics running be able to hit PPs that have MOGed. Vanden has a point though, simply changing the duration of MOG doesn't affect the challenge. I'd like to suggest that, in addition to halving MOGs duration, PPs be given a +300% damage buff that lasts the same duration as MOG. That will certainly liven things up! 😄

Activating all Armor Toggles
PeregrineFalcon replied to arthurh35353's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It's not a matter of how important the topic is, it's a matter of does your brain actually function. If I say "The sky is blue", and you say "chewing gum is not blue, send me a pic of a single stick of gum that's blue." What you've done there is a straw-man argument, you've argued against something I never even said. If a person responds with nothing but straw-man arguments they're either disingenuous or insane. Either way I don't want to discuss anything with them and many other people will feel the same way. By the way, before people get all offended, I wasn't insulting a particular person on this forum, I was simply explaining what a straw-man argument is. -

PeregrineFalcon replied to arthurh35353's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
And this is where you straw-man everyone in the thread that's not agreeing with you. People aren't saying "everything is impossible", people aren't even saying "this is impossible", people are just saying that they're against your idea. Some think it'd be too much effort to code for the very small benefit. Some think it'd just make the game easier and they think it's already too easy. Straw-man and Ad hominem attacks aren't going to convince anyone. By the way, a lot of people in this thread have offered good suggestions to help you. I think I even saw one poster say that he could write the macro that would turn your armor toggles on for you. It's not what you want, but it's all that we, as players, can do to help you. People here will even offer you build advice so that you don't have to keep turning your toggles on so often. So do you really want a solution? Or do you just want to beat everyone until they agree with you. Newsflash, that's never going to happen. -
Thoughts on a recharge speed inspiration?
PeregrineFalcon replied to BLVD's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Man. What is it with people today posting in the Suggestions Forum and then freaking out when other people disagree with their suggestions? Progress isn't "change something just cause I want it!" In fact, progress isn't really a thing at all. Progress is the state where you are moving toward a specific goal. What exactly, Replacement, is your specific goal? If you can't name a specific goal then nothing that you propose is progress, it's simply a change. Being opposed to change isn't bad if it's a bad change or if it's a change merely for the sake of change. Neither of which is progress either. And what if I do admit that I'm "opposed to progress"? Does that somehow make me a bad person? -
Activating all Armor Toggles

Here's an idea that might make your life less of a hassle. Build your characters better so that you're not dying and having to retoggle all of the time. -
Activating all Armor Toggles
PeregrineFalcon replied to arthurh35353's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
No. Just because people's attitudes have been negative in this thread doesn't mean that they're negative in all threads. It just means that the people who are posting don't like your idea. Plus, the developers are going to do what they're going to do. I really doubt that they're going to do or not do something just because I, or a few others in this thread, don't like it. -

1) I wasn't trying to talk to you as if you were new to City of Heroes. I was simply making a statement. 2) Don't get all offended that I wasn't recognizing your veteran status. I had no way of knowing that. 3) I said "no real benefit", but what I should have said was "not enough of a benefit to be worth the amount of work." 4) I have a number of tanks and scrappers and I have a keybind on all of them to activate all of their toggles. So I do understand how annoying it can be. 5) If you say something in a public forum people are going to respond, and some of those responses will disagree with you. If people are disagreeing with you a lot, as you stated in a previous post, perhaps you should consider the possibility that your ideas aren't good ones. -

People who've been on the forums for awhile are just saying that this would likely be a huge amount of work for something that has almost no real benefit. -

PeregrineFalcon replied to arthurh35353's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Whether on the internet or in real life people are going to disagree with you. That doesn't mean that they're bad people or that they have a hidden or vile agenda. Usually it just means that they disagree with you. The best advice that I can give you is that life will be much easier if you get used to it. -
May I respectfully suggest that, instead of hoarding absolutely everything that you come in contact with, perhaps you could consider selling stuff you don't want on the market, hanging on to the INF, and buying the stuff you want when you're ready to use it. Doing this would solve your problem. Just a thought...
