Sooo, Energy Melee Future [re: The Process]
PeregrineFalcon replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Let's be honest for a moment, Mac. Hurricane is that only power that the live devs admitted that they nerfed because of PvE. Just because they said it doesn't mean it's true. The live devs are only human and it's not above anyone to lie, or at least not give the full truth, especially if they don't want to cause a holy s*** storm on the forums. And it's not like it could have been reverted in PvE later. While they can alter damage and effects depending on whether you're in a PvE or PvP zone, I don't think they can choose which animation to use depending on which zone you're in. Then the other sets came along, the ones that you had to buy, and the devs didn't revert ET back because the other sets were required by the publisher to be better so that people would purchase them. *Yes. All of this is my opinion, just speculation on my part. No, I don't have any proof or citations, etc etc. -
I would love to see a situation where completing the bank mission would award one merit and completing each side mission would also award one merit.

Fighting Malta the other day with my Willpower/Super Strength Tanker, and a friend on mine on his Willpower Scrapper. Every time we went up against a Zeus class titan (the boss mechs) Rise to the Challenge, and no other toggle, would get dropped. This would happen to both of us. And no, it wasn't Sappers. We always targeted and killed them first. We still had endurance. And, as I said, was only ever Rise to the Challenge that got dropped. Now I remember something about micro-sleeps causing detoggling, and was wondering if that's what this was, but I can't find anything about it on the wiki. Am I misremembering? Is it a bug? Or is this really a thing that Malta bosses can do?

I don't think that anyone can argue that both Assault Rifle and Mercenaries need buffs. Sure, not every set has to be the same. Not every set has to be top-tier. But both of those aren't just last place for their respective AT's, they're last place by an enormous margin. I'm not advocating for either of those sets to be buffed up to be equal with the top-tier sets, but they should at least tie with another set for last place. Mercenaries: I think that a low effort fix to make them viable would be to add some serious damage resistance to Equip Mercenary and some defense to Tactical Upgrade. This would make them tank-y compared to other MM pets. So it becomes the low damage/high survival MM set. This allows this set to be one where the MM can focus more on their secondary rather than their primary. Perfect for a support character. Another low effort fix would be to add stacking damage buffs to Equip Mercenary and Tactical Upgrade. So they do lots of damage but they're still kinda squishy. Once again this solves the issue of this set being undesirable without requiring a lot of effort on the dev's part and without the need to add some kind of combo mechanic. Please don't do that. Please don't add a combo mechanic to Mercenaries. Assault Rifle: Thematically this set being AoE heavy is ridiculous, but I think that ship already sailed about 15 years ago, so I'll stop there. In addition to a small damage buff for the powers across the board, I would increase M30 Grenade's radius and damage to be equal to that of Rain of Fire. I would also double Ignite's radius and increase the arc and target cap on Full Auto. So them's my 2 cents.

Focused Feedback: Stance Selection
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Thank you for adding more customization options! The various stances cannot be previewed in the tailor's power preview screen. -

Fair enough. But if I may ask. What exactly was it about the stacking of these powers that caused a problem that had to be solved? -
Focused Feedback: Other Powers Changes
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Absolutely no one likes this change or wants it. Which absolutely guarantees that it's going live. That's how development works. -

Long Range Teleporter
PeregrineFalcon replied to EpochParadox's topic in [Open Beta] Bug Report Archive
No. It's working as intended. Look at your temp power tray. You know, the one that pops up when Long Range Teleporter goes into cool-down. -
Can you please make the icons larger, or at least adjust to screen size? I have a 33 inch monitor and an ancient set of eyes that are going bad. The little icons that represent the servers are tiny. I'm not asking them to be changed to being the size of a quarter or anything, but right now they're roughly the size of a pin-head on my screen.

General Feedback: Issue 27, Page 1
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Agreed. I tested this a few days ago with my level 50 tank in Atlas Park. After standing next to two level 1 Hellions for about 20 seconds one of them died. Whooooo booy! Is THAT overpowered or what? -

Now that you mention it I do seem to vaguely remember that. I wonder why they didn't also fix allowing taunt auras to slot taunt sets then. Weird. -
General Feedback: Issue 27, Page 1
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
According to Castle the reason that he wouldn't allow taunt sets to be slotted into taunt auras was that the damage procs would hit the tank instead of the enemies. He also claimed that it would take a lot of work to fix and that he'd get to it when he had the chance. I guess he never got the chance. -
I tried it out recently in my Ivuln Tanker. Yes, it only fires off when there are enemies within range of Invincibility. Which might not be what you want for a Sentinel.

Focused Feedback: Other Powers Changes
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Apologies if someone already answered this and I missed it. Since Taunt IO sets can now be slotted in Tanker aggro toggles... If I slot Perfect Zinger chance for Psi damage in Invincibility, will it damage me or the enemies around me? EDIT: I tested it and it affects enemies. But I don't think it happens often enough to be worthwhile. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Reeeaaaally? Mmmm. How would suggest I go about building that? I can't imagine that replacing the 3 dam enhancements in say TF or ET will procs would be useful. Am I wrong on that? -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
MM? I don't know what that means. Posts I saw by Billzbuba stated that War Mace, among others, routinely had better pylon times than EM. Did I miss an update to that? -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Just a question for the developers (and yes I've been testing EM on Brainstorm): Energy Melee has two things, 1) Single-target damage and, 2) Stuns. Now, since EM still isn't going to be the best at single-target damage (there's no dispute here, pylon tests prove this) can we at least get some improvements to the stuns? And yes. I am asking for the ability to more reliably stun bosses. I don't care about stunning minions or even lieutenants, and I don't expect to be able to reliably stun EBs or AVs. But, since single-target damage is about taking down bosses, and since EM can't be the king of single-target damage again, can it at least be the king of single-target stuns? -
Weekly Discussion 74: UI Suggestions
PeregrineFalcon replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
The ability to snap windows to a grid and then lock them so that they won't move and all be saved at that same location. Including windows for base storage. (Which always reset when the UI options are reloaded) Oh, and I'd like stuff that's in base storage to stop jumping around when I'm pulling items out. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
See, I remember those threads where we argued with Castle about stuff that was on the test server. And sometimes you and I were in agreement and sometimes not. When, in the entire life-cycle of this game, have you ever seen significant changes happen to something that was on test based on player feedback? Oh sure, a couple of percentage points here a 1/4 of a second to an animation there, but a significant change like adding/removing a combo system? Never. It's going live like this and you know it is. The best we can do is hope to convince the devs to buff EM so that it is once again the King of Single Target Damage. Letting them know that some people really dislike combo systems, or at least don't want every power set to have them, is worthwhile. But we all know that they're not going to reverse all of the work they've done to EM on account of a few guys who don't sign their paychecks. IMHO. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Then that's an enormous mistake by the devs, IMHO. Energy Melee used to be the King of Single Target Damage, and it should be again. What's the point of even 'fixing' Energy Melee if it's not going to regain that title? So War Mace does better AoE AND better single target damage than Energy Melee? Ridiculous! Can I at least blame THAT on PvP? (j/k Macskull) -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yeah, mine is an Invuln/EM Tank. My main from before The Snap. A low-damage cone stun just doesn't seem helpful. Now for an EM Scrapper I can see where stunning half of the mob while I beat on the other half would be a definite survival boost. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
PeregrineFalcon replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
So I'll admit that I was almost as unhappy about the change to EM as Troo is. Then I logged on to the test server and tried it. Yes, as someone said earlier in the thread "It's as minimally gimmicky as possible." Also this "gimmick" gives EM some flexibility. 1) Go for fast/high damage ET, 2) Go for a debuff in Bonesmasher, or 3) Go for more AoE with Power Crash. I won't be using Power Crash, but I can see where some people would like it. And at least Stun did get a buff of sorts. And I LOVE that ET has its old animation back. And I LOVE TF's sped-up animation. -
Did some testing. All of the portals and porters seem to work as advertised. At least for me they did. I do have one request of my fellow forum posters though. Can we PLEASE stop saying "this has been talked about for over a year"? Most players do NOT live on the forums and they do NOT know that this has been talked about. A lot of people don't know that the base pass code is dev command or that we were already told that it was going away. You're literally yelling at someone for not remembering a conversation that they were not there for.
