Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)
Due Regard replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Welcome to the joys of MMO's... Change is the only constant. Also, that slotting will STILL have you at the "fastest I could go" for flight, as you've literally lost NOTHING to flyspeed in the patch. AB now allows you to go even faster, Tails, but only 1/3rd of the time. -
Is it really fake, if it never existed in the first place?

Seems fake.

Focused Feedback: Blaster Secondary Revamp
Due Regard replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Also jumping onto the hype/request train to keep /TA's ranges at 80', to match Arch blasts. The set is a ranged support set, let us leave it as such on the ranged powers. Increase End/Recharges if needed, to "pay" for the extra 30'. -
Homecoming: City of Heroes Error Could not load launcher bootstrap package. This may indiciate an Internet connectivity issue. So, managed to install and launch just fine on my laptop. However, multiple attempts on my desktop yield the same issue/error message, and a failed install. Solutions? More details on the error... found out I had different anti-virals on the two computers... Desktop keeps kicking up this error: We blocked this dangerous page for your protection: http://cdn.homecomingservers.com/hc/launcher/2744/win32/launchercli.exe.xz Accessed by: launcher.exe Threat name: Gen:Variant.Fugrafa.6013 Dangerous pages attempt to install software that can harm the device, gather personal information or operate without your consent. So... thoughts, @Number Six?

Focused Feedback: Sonic Manipulation
Due Regard replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Thirding "Vertigo", while it seems close to "stun/dizzy", I think we can still keep the Hold mechanic aspect... And it seems a better fit in-lore for all types of entities, as robots/ghosts/fluffies/etc pro'ly don't care about head pains. -
Dev Diary - Piecemeal's Workshop of Horrors

A villain DEV!?!?!?!?!? HELLS YEAH!!!!!!!!! -
Wow... that's a lot of Critical feelings to air out. Are you sure you want to start that Scrap of a discussion on the boards? ^_^

Quoting for emphasis. To you it aligns. And that's great, but that is also your opinion. Praetoria was specifically supposed to be morally grey - without clear cut heroes or villains. In fact, it is possible to maintain any of the 4 factions through the first 20 levels, take the portal to Primal, and be either a Hero or Villain. You're not locked in. I felt a finer point on it was less Hero vs Villain in Praetoria, and more Law vs Chaos - Responsibility and Warden are the Law side - stronger code of conduct, restrictions in place, but still trying to effect their will. Crusader and Power are Chaos - whatever happens, happens... If it works to their goals, then sure! This is from me playing through all 4 factions paths on Legacy, so please forgive errors from 8 years of fog. I'll be playing through them again, natively, when HC makes those upcoming SO changes, and will revise my impressions as needed then.

As a red main (started blue, love red more), I'd like to answer a few of your points. TLDR - give Redside a try again? Mercy was revamped, and is much smoother for a native lowbie. GV does suck w/o flight... however, base TP makes that very smooth, since most mission doors can be better accessed off the central corridor. Nerva (Caleb zone) has the same issues as IP (huge size) and Perez Park (unmapped forest maze with no holes to jump/fly through). I'll agree with you on Nerva, but I'd argue the ferry system and fewer zones overall makes redside easier to navigate than blue. Mission layouts are much more forgiving, too... as there's only 7 zones to blue's 18, you run around in zone more, and through zones less. Granted, I tend to slot at least a Stealth IO in every toon, but between Ninja/Beast Run + Jump Pack, the only zones I've issues in movement are the 4 SS, and sometimes high doors in GV. So, I've been doing an experiment - I've rolled each AT on the "wrong" side, and been playing through content (missions, TF's, etc). Either the redside AT's are stronger (doubtful, AT's are fairly balanced) or redside has harder mobs (more believable - they have more varied damage types, more status effects and at lower levels. This is actually highlighted even more in Praetoria. Gold side mobs are harder at level than blue or red groups... With the exception of Vanguard - they're sucky for everyone). My leveling experience has been much easier on blueside with the red AT's. (note, Stalkers on Blue are hilarious! Content was NOT designed for players to be sneaky) Agreed, Red AT's are much more self-contained. I've noticed an interesting trend on that, both Legacy and Live... While Blue teams tend to pick and choose, recruiting AT's or even powersets, commonly requiring minimum levels for non-TF content - I don't see the same thing Red. Might be the more self-sufficiency, might be the different attitude of being a villain, might be the "holy crap, I don't have to solo!" effect... but most red teams I see recruiting don't have a requirement other than don't leech. Long since eliminated when they merged markets back on Legacy. The issues there was the paucity of both population and resources... Younger faction, less players, less overall stuff moving around. Fortunately, with the market/currency mergers, that issue is totally gone. My Inf is Inf, blue, red, or gold. Anyhow, yes, I'd love for more content for redside, and a larger draw for people. Would also love more selfish missions/arcs, vs being evil for someone else's benefit. Lastly, can we get TF's to match the FPR's ranges? No 10-15, and no 30-35!

MOONBASE CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Westin Phipps is bad, but he's also cartoony bad, IIRC them correctly. He knows he's evil and putting on a show. Yeah, you're doing shit stuff - but it is overtly evil, and clear cut that this is Bad Stuff. Now, on the other hand, Harris (IIRC) - the former Longbow lowbie contact? HIS arc makes my skin crawl. I've literally only ever done it twice - Once on Legacy (and then swore never again), and then once again here on HC (solely for the souvenir that time, on my badger/completionist). Props to the writers on that one... blech.

"argo cap"? Is that the doors on the deck of a trireme? Do we really need to double the amount of doors on those boats in Cimeroa? Or are they the hats that sailors on the Argo wear? What's the point of giving them a second hat?

ZOUNDS!!! IS IT A SPOILER!?!?!?!?

I main a Spines/Ice Scrapper, it is absurd. I had an Ice/SS on legacy, and always kinda got irritated at Hibernate for killing my killing/arresting. Icy Bastion feels a much better choice, adding surviveability when you're getting overwhelmed, without stopping your DPS.
-
Also, with sufficient defenses/int reduction, you can POP Rest while IN the fires of Mercy... But, you'll need the regen to back it up (59dmg tics). I'm currently just standing in the flames for tics of 10... Might have to find a better method for damage.

Loyalist <-> Resistance ... switching alignments EVERY TIME for Praetorians
Due Regard replied to Redlynne's topic in Guides
So, cool thing I found out, running through Oros to start these... If you're on a Gold arc as a Primal, you count as both Loyal/Resist for the coded doors. Additionally, since it is through Oros, none of the changes stick past you zoning. (Finished Cleopatra's, chose Resistance, lost the other as a contact, TP'd to Base, TP'd back in, alive again!) So, this guide is wicked useful, but only required for those masochists playing through Gold-side natively. Still love the effort into it! -
Contacts and the Outleveling Issue
Due Regard replied to Emperor Cole's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Any Major or Minor story arc, once started will allow you to complete it, no matter WHAT level you go to while running it. IIRC, you're limited to 2 Major, and 5 Minor arcs open on a toon, at a time. This is a separate and slightly hidden limit, outside of the limit of 7 active missions at a time. Also, bad form, etiquette, and you just look foolish when you insist someone is wrong when they're not, AND when you misspell the $5 words you're throwing around to prove your point. ^_^ Additionally, you and they are almost arguing the same point. They aren't arguing for Trolls to be a viable level 50 faction, they're just offering that it'd be useful (from a story perspective) if you could start a brand new arc above the range, run it at your native level (not the arc's), and just blast through it for the story. I think that part of the technical issues there would be how to address mission completion/end of arc rewards - do they also get out-leveled into oblivion? -
More because there's enough shinies with ludicrous requirements (Empath being chief among them), that adding another, especially if iterative (a la x Times the Victor, which are 10 different badges), seems not enjoyable to pursue.
-
Iterative, sure - Let's see just how much of an Inf black hole a player is.. But not part of the current 1580 possible badges (much like Bug Hunter isn't counted in that total).
-
Make it just a title, or a non-counted badge (a la Bug Hunter) and I'm in.

Beam Energy Aura - Couldn't take down Requiem 8/4 setting
Due Regard replied to plainguy's topic in Sentinel
I haven't Incarnated my Beam/EnA yet, but he is built out. For your comparison: Amused how similar parts of the builds are, given how little I know on Sentinels.
