Something to play towards or un-necessary forced time sink
GM Tock replied to Hero_of_Light's topic in General Discussion
Red light! Posts removed. I'm going to try this one last time. Please do not engage in personal attacks, it's in the Code of Conduct. If someone does, report, ignore and we'll handle it. Argue the thoughts, not the person. And green light! -
Before getting to the results, I'd like to take a moment for a mea culpa. Before the costume contest started, I was asked a week or so earlier if mythological animals were permissible. When I answered in the negative (this time, anyway), I didn't inform the event staff sufficiently before the contest started. That meant that some mythological entries were picked anyway across the servers. It's not the judges fault, but mine. I apologize for that outcome, and I'll try to do better in the future for the community. With that in mind, we're still going to distribute the awards to everyone selected below, as the error was on my end, not theirs. ๐Overall winner: Konig Lowenherz ๐ Excelsior: Finalists: Itzy-Bitzy, Optimouse Prime, Blue Pig, Unicorn Bjorn Winner: Elephant Everlasting: Finalists: Filthy Rat, Karmadillo, Canned Ham, Rock Opossum, Winner: Base Building Badger Torchbearer: Finalists: Panda Express, Catscan, Not A Minotaur, Snowflash, Winner: Konig Lowenherz Indomitable: Finalists: Punchy The Boxerfish, Miss Bumble, Pride of Thundera, Shadow Griffin Winner: Dodge Viper Reunion: Finalists: Sir Waddles, Keke, Penn Guin, Muleta Irisha, Winner: The Sushi If you are a winner I will be in touch with you within 24 hours - Message me here or in game @GM Tahquitz if you have questions If you missed our fun - stay tuned for more events just like this one (and more) right here! ๐Vote on GM costumes of the same theme (Animals)!๐ (The poll will close on the 30th of November) Costume 1 Costume 2 Costume 3 Costume 4 Costume 5 ๐Here is the winner of our last GM CC: Classic Halloween - GM Xeras for the win!๐

November 21st - Animal Themed Costume Contest!
GM Tock replied to GM Tock's topic in Events & Contests
Yes, when answering questions on the forums I stated that mythical creatures were not going to be considered, however during judging I didn't get the word out effectively with the Homecoming Staff, so there are a few entries that were mythological anyway. It was not the judges' fault, it was mine. I apologize for that outcome. -
Power Surge != Heat. Does your BIOS or EFI have a temperature limiter running that halts the system if it exceeds a threshold? I don't advise turning that up past 70 degrees celsius myself, but figuring out why the overheating is occurring and solving the issue would probably be more beneficial.

Something to play towards or un-necessary forced time sink
GM Tock replied to Hero_of_Light's topic in General Discussion
Off Topic would be fine, as long as it stays out of the religion/politic arena. -
It'd be helpful to know what the BSOD error was. Driver issues notwithstanding, there's a few BSODs that are indicative of other problems. If you remember the day it happened, you may be able to find it in the System Logs in Event Viewer. (Control Panel > Administrative Tools) Does the laptop happen to run other games alright? (Granted, Solitare isn't a fair measure: something with full screen 3D game play should be sufficient.) Also, you mentioned it's an ASUS ROG. Would it happen to be a Zephyrus by any chance? We've had user reports of hardware issues on some models when playing City of Heroes. (Unfortunately, I haven't heard of a single solution... most folks were within the return window and selected another gaming laptop instead.)

November 21st - Animal Themed Costume Contest!
GM Tock replied to GM Tock's topic in Events & Contests
By function of the Costume Creator, human toons portraying modern animals are fine. (Wolf mutants, Cat girls, all okay.) Minotaurs, griffins, dragons, etc. we'll save for another time. -
November 21st - Animal Themed Costume Contest!
GM Tock replied to GM Tock's topic in Events & Contests
@TabithaPandana No mythical/fictional animals this time around, but stay tuned with that idea for a future contest. ๐ @Hopestar So, what you're saying really is... which Paragon Studios developer should I send the prize to for making Peacebringers/Warshades? I have no idea, myself. ๐ -
Removed some posts. RMT is not permitted on Homecoming in any form. Carry on.

Did a topic merge with a post from General Discussion, apologies if the thread looks disorganized above. No worries discussing this on it's own merits, however, we've got nothing to say on the matter.

Controversial Opinion of Population Decline
GM Tock replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
I think sufficiency has been reached here. Let's discuss something else. -
๐ฆ๐ Animal Themed! ๐๐ฆ First off, I'm GM Tahquitz. By now, you've probably seen me around on the forums a bit. And before the event details, I wanted to recognize GM Miss and her amazing work in keeping the community entertained in the last year. Starting this month, she will be taking a much-deserved and well-earned break. I'll be organizing the November Costume Contest in her place on Homecoming this month. Come on out to Kallisti Wharf on Saturday November 21st for our next Costume Contest! This month's theme will be Animals! Bust out your favorite class and phyla, whether chordate or invertebrate. This month's contest is sure to be a hit! Unique and creative costumes are always encouraged! When? November 21st @9pm UTC 9pm UTC is: 10pm Central European time 9pm UK time 4pm Eastern time 1pm Pacific time 8am Sunday in Eastern Australia (DST) Click here to see 9pm UTC in your timezone Where? Statesman Plaza in the center of Kallisti Wharf on all five shards (Torchbearer, Excelsior, Reunion, Indomitable and Everlasting) Heroes can reach Kallisti Wharf via the tram Villains can reach Kallisti Wharf via the Smugglerโs Submarine in Sharkhead Isle and Grandville Prizes? The 4 runner-up costumes on each shard will win: A permanent golden title: Animal Costume Contest Runner-Up The Fashion Victim Badge 150 reward merits The best costume on each shard will win: A permanent golden title: Animal Costume Contest Finalist The Fashion Victim Badge 300 reward merits The single best overall costume will win: A permanent golden title: Animal Costume Contest Winner The Fashion Victim Badge 1000 reward merits Costume manipulation shall not be considered legitimate in costume contests. (Use of any tricks not permitted in the Costume Creator during normal gameplay, usually indicated by a lock icon over the costume slot.) Any costume manipulation will be disqualified. It is an issue that will be patched in future updates and the practice is not allowed on HC. Also please note that costume contest judging is subjective. There are all sorts of corners and nooks of the Geekdom World Map, and the wisdom in trusting that not everyone has seen all the places you have yet is appreciated. Our GM's who volunteer their time thank you for your patience and understanding in keep the event running as smooth as possible. If you have any issues, please contact me here or on Discord!

Reinstalling on new comp but cant get installed
GM Tock replied to LdyPirate's topic in Help & Support
HC Launcher will try to find the Tequila files based on the Registry entry it makes for the installer directory. That probably won't happen on a new system where Tequila was never run before. (I might be wrong about other approaches it takes... Number Six would know best.) Since you did run it, you can copy your old system's Tequila folder into the current PC's Tequila folder and replace everything. Then I'd erase the Homecoming folder and reinstall it at the same place (HC Launcher & the HC Client it patches are 100% portable, so erasing the directory is the Uninstall method.) It will detect the Tequila folder and prompt to use those files as the base and patch from there. -
Ignoring the Homecoming client for a second, this is concerning just Paragon Chat and Icon. Icon is end-of-life. There are no more updates happening for it. It will continue to work on Issue 24 files indefinitely and offline, so as long as a Visual C runtime from the 2010s is installed, you're fine. Paragon Chat doesn't need Tequila to patch, but it needs the Issue 24 files that Tequila downloads. Once you have the issue 24 files and Paragon Chat installed, keeping a copy of the Tequila folder with Paragon Chat in it is all you need to reinstall it elsewhere. Issue 24 doesn't get updated ever again by Tequila, so it's not really updating anything if you run Paragon Chat that way. Both apps will not work with Homecoming Launcher. Like WanderingAries said, the easiest way to put it: if you keep Tequila around, Paragon Chat and Icon will continue to work.

It's alright, it's a common issue we answer.

There are two accounts you make: Forum Account - Used to talk in this area. This username and password will NOT sign you into the game. Game Account - Used to log into the game. Can be reset from the forums at-will, no memory of your old password required. You can set/reset your game account password here, then use that to login.
-
It would be something you can submit a Support Ticket about, that's for sure.
-
Most likely Discord. They have been having 'quirks' with the Community Server implementation, which is what HC Discord is using. On a Discord Server I moderate, I've removed the webhook from the channel and readded it, which after some trial and failure doing that restored announcements. If you're a Server Admin, give that a shot. (Especially during the Beta cycle, more announcements are on the way.)
-
If you have Mid's Reborn, it still needs .NET, so still worth installing it. (Things I learned today! ๐ )
-
Thought I'd address the objections. If after considering that, you disagree, that's alright. (By my own observation using the Beta, the only impact on me is visiting Pocket D is two clicks instead of one. If using the Fast Travel menu to save Power Bar icon slots, three clicks. That's about the only difference.)
-
Patch notes. LRT cools down three times in 30 min. Current version of Pocket D TP Prestige Power in Issue 26 has a cooldown of 30 min per use. And you don't need to re-earn the destination when Issue 27 starts. If you have the power now, the LRT will be granted with Pocket D as a destination on day 1, no effort required.
-
Pocket D is going to be a destination in Long Range Teleporter. Since it's in that list, the Temp Power by itself is a little redundant. Nostalgia reasons, yes, I'll miss the in-game button myself. I remember when I got the "Good vs. Evil Edition" and the Pocket D VIP Pass card inside that has the CD-Key hidden on the back.
