  1. A point that I have come to appreciate more recently is that I prefer the corruptor ato's to the defender ones. An extra big damage proc and the bonus end proc are generally more valuable to me than the heal and absorb (particularly as I can't stand the sound effect attached to the absorb proc). I don't have any doubt that corruptors could do with a bit of a boost though, likely through making scourge more meaningful in non av fights.
  2. Necro/time works very nicely for this. Most of your pets want to be in melee and times juncture gives you a very strong incentive to follow. Chrono shift is very useful for recharging soul extraction too.
  3. Change the trams so that using them isn't tied to the tram animation cycle. Still annoying after all this time.
  4. You haven't slotted a proc in it have you?
  5. Regardless of any reasoned arguments (which are clearly pointless) this simply isn't your decision to make. We play in homecoming's playground. They make the rules.
  6. The constant 'never back down, never surrender' arguments around here are utterly exhausting. Maybe it's not life or death important to argue every little point into the ground?
  7. I'm not sure you've thought this through - the prevention of using rest and personal force field at the same time isn't a restriction, it's there to prevent you killing yourself. Rest has something like a -100,000% defence penalty and a similarly huge resistance penalty - enough to make you hit the floor for both defence and resistance regardless of any other factor. It also completely immobilises you. Adding the ability to accidentally toggle rest on during PFF would be a flat out nerf (but it would make an entertaining noob trap).
  8. It's a nice idea but given that we can just email inf between characters it would just be creating a slicker, more lore friendly solution to an already solved problem.
  9. I see what you did there.
  10. I meant to add the word reactive in there. Energise is on too long a cooldown to adequately fill the role of a reactive heal in my opinion.
  11. If there absolutely had to be a penalty for using the toggle then sure. I'd leave it to the devs to find the right balance. I'd ideally prefer to go in the other direction: give kb something extra that is lost when it is turned into kd. Obviously more technically complicated by far so might not be feasible but in an ideal world... Re energy blast. To be completely honest my biggest gripe with the set isn't the kb, it's how inconsistent that kb actually is. When aoes only have a % chance of kb they are all but guaranteed to scatter mobs. Yes, it is possible to limit this through positioning but personally I don't find the game enjoyable trying to hover over mobs (camera control etc). If slotting kb enhancement could raise the probability of kb to 100% I'd be all over the set.
  12. I find myself wishing I had a universal kb mag reduction when playing some melee sets vs kb vulnerable enemies. Battle axe vs clockwork for example can be an utter pain. Overall I don't entirely disagree but surely there has to come a point where we accept that this idea simply isn't going away and the people requesting it over and over again have legitimate reasons. Preventing power creep is an admirable position but only so far as it serves the interests of the overall health of the game. If enough people find kb to be detrimental to their experience of the game then that isn't serving the greater good. Also, I don't think the sets that would benefit the most (energy blast and peacebringers) would be pulling up trees even with some sort of toggle. For my money they would move into the 'maybe playable' bracket as opposed to the 'never going to touch them' bin where they currently reside.
  13. Moar options: yes please.
  14. As I said: I just think it's a shame to have anything that makes a small community feel smaller.
  15. I've always used mm's for this kind of thing. The combination of autonomous pets and toggle or long lasting support powers is hard to beat. The idea of a pocket tank is intriguing though. What about stone? Eventually you'd just be able to leave it in granite making it very hands off.
  16. Elec blast is really good now. I prefer pairing it with something that has a slow aura to limit scatter, otherwise drained enemies take to the hills. A friend and I ran a pair of elec/time corrs that were absolutely devastating. If I were soloing I would probably use the defender version though. Elec/ice or elec/martial blasters would also work. I've never got on with elec armour, it has holes in awkward places and no heal on a resist set is a real limitation. Elec control is a set I want to love more than I end up doing. Every time I try it I find it lacks the reliable control it feels it should have considering how low its damage potential is. Elec affinity looks a good set, I'm particularly tempted to run it as an mm but haven't yet got around to it.
  17. I wish they didn't use discord too. Apart from anything else we're a small enough community as it is and splitting us between two places makes it feel even smaller. For the same reason I kind of question the wisdom of the closed beta model which leads to queries like the op. I feel it's important in a small population like this to foster a sense of togetherness and dividing people up does not do this. I take people's word that there are no significant barriers to entry to the closed beta. I haven't tried to join it myself mainly because it would make my hobby too much like my day job. But it does feel like too much of the community activity is sequestered away from public view and the feel of things around here suffers as a result.
  18. The changes to power availability might have had an effect. I have recently considered trying a fire/kin having always ruled it out in the past because of the late arrival of fulcrum shift.
  19. Just proc out acid arrow and whatever other aoes you can and lob them in the direction of your oil slick. Both the bombardment and posi procs will light it.
  20. An ex housemate used to play WoW and at the time I was playing a lot of CoH. We both encouraged the other to play 'our' game and watched over each others shoulders to get a flavour of the games. Ultimately it never happened. I could see something off about the structure of WoW play; the raiding format, the prescribed roles and actions, the gear grind. And in turn I don't think she could see the point of CoH, specifically because it has a lot less of that structure. Different games for different mindsets. Neither is of course objectively better, just better in the eyes of different people. Boy am I glad I don't play WoW though. That video is a horror show...
  21. This just isn't that kind of game. Contribution to a team is measured in so much more than damage. Even if you were to just try to look at damage what would you measure? Single target burst? Aoe burst? Sustained damage of either or both? Damage against heavily resistant targets? Damage against targets that can pop godmodes? If you are of an appropriate level for the content then you can contribute. If you are worried that you could be slotted better or that sort of thing then the forums are the place to ask.
  22. Yeah it occurred to me end mod/heal is a bit of a gap in the IO landscape at the minute:
  23. Yes indeed. There are also some aura powers with lengthy cast times that you can't really see in the costume creator because it doesn't get all the way through the animation to the settled 'on' state. Death Shroud is an example that springs to mind. An option to 'leave power running' in the cc would be great.
  24. This is a fascinating thread with many good insights from the Devs/GM's. It will be a shame that this will get buried eventually and many may not read it even now given that the bulk of the interesting discussion hasn't actually been related to the topic itself. Might it be an idea for a Dev/GM to create a topic called something like 'Game development, testing and communication', copy all the relevant posts from this thread and then sticky it? This is exactly the kind of communication between the Devs/GM's and the players that the community has been desperate for, thank you for taking the time.
  25. The other thing that slips through the net is reactions by people you've ignored. If you've ignored a serial thumbs-downer you still see all their petty little sneers. Then again I'd prefer to remove negative reactions altogether for the good of forum harmony.
