Hey all, I have a illusion/storm controller that I've never brought to 3 or 4 star TFs before. Just wondering if the character would be of value in higher difficulties? I have Perma PA and freezing rain, but I'm worried that the -fear from /Storm would result in running mobs and more problem for the team.

Could we possibly add a focus fire command on Blind to get Phantom Army clones to attack the target Blind was used on? My idea for this came about for QOL: 1) when there are invulnerable/phased targets that PA is attacking to get them to stop and attack something else and 2) when we need PA to kill 1 objective surrounded by a group of mobs Would this make PA too OP in terms of DPS?

a flawed set is still a flawed set. To Hit Debuffs - sure if you really need that extra 9 - 12% -tohit before you can kill the target. Fear Effect - It is not worth wasting the animation time on a mag 2 single target fear. And this is tied to a sustain power whereas other sets have the sustain on 24/7, do you really want to save it as a CC effect instead of the sustain??? Darkness Manipulation is already handicapped by needing a critter for it. End Recovery - Sure if you really need that END every (60-90 secs with max recharge), just carry blues or use Ageless. The trade off here is the lack of an additional PBAOE attack or cone that other blaster support sets have. The damage of Dark Consumption is not really that great and base up time is pretty low. DOT Aura - Standard blaster aura but sustain should have been moved here like most other blaster sets having their sustain in a toggle and Touch of the Beyond should have been given more CC or utility. Disorient - Mag 2 stun??? Just Nuke/AOE the minions down and save yourself the animation time and alpha strike. -

why play Dark Manipulation when you can play a set with Build Up, which is available on demand and without the need for a hit check or number of mobs for effectiveness. -
Masterminds are great as a concept but are severely handicapped by several things 1) Pet Level Penalty - Spawning at +0, -1 , -2 just makes Masterminds less viable in end-game content. All Pets spawning at +0 (excluding Incarnate shifts) will reduce the feeling of powerlessness at +4 difficulty levels. 2) Pet Movement and AI - Pets are slow, AI isn't that great. This makes them stuck in random places or lag behind in most types of content that focus on objectives. We need a Teleport to Me ability to make sure the Pets stay with the Mastermind at all times. It is ridiculous having to wait 10 seconds for the pets to move and then begin their attack animations and cycles. Imagine playing a Ranged AT and the projectiles take 10 seconds to travel from your character to the enemy. 3) Endurance tax - Not sure why this is still in place but Masterminds are already using lower buff/debuff values and with the changes to personal attacks, wouldn't you want Masterminds to be more active? Scrap this endurance tax. I get that Masterminds can fulfil a lot of roles e.g. damage, buff/debuff and tanking but all of the above are just handicaps in a meta where other support ATs like Defenders, Corruptors or Controllers can perform better in every aspect that a Mastermind can do; except Tankermind stuff but pets are so unreliable anyways. The recent changes to the Primaries are a step in the right direction but with the above fundamental setbacks, no matter what kind of revolutionary changes, Masterminds will always feel like a chore to play.

So many people talking about how DPS wanting their stats to be shown is toxic yada yada. But the support players are frothing at their mouths talking about CC and Heals and Status effects with the same levels of ego and e-peen as DPS players. Put in a buff/debuff duration % uptime and heals and maybe they will be happy?

Never say never I guess. The changes to the Mastermind sets and attacks were a step in the right quadrant but they only fixed performance issues. Changes for QoL problems like fear patches and pet slowness and pet level shifts are still possible. Imagine a day where pets spawn at the Mastermind's level. Sigh one can only dream.

Yeah I understand this but it is troublesome and doesn't feel smooth and an additional penalty for a class that is already penalised (e.g. Pet AI, End Tax, Secondary set effectiveness reduced and Pet Level Shift)

No thank you. Teleport Target is too inefficient to move 6 Pets + other sub pets e.g. extracted Souls and Incan will spam the team that you are on.

A power to immediately TP the pets to the mastermind would solve these: Quality of Life Issues Pets stuck on environment Pets taking too long to catch up, making the mastermind useless in team content. Pets fleeing from damage patches e.g. caltrops, burn patches Move pets out of said damage patches Pets are crucial to mastermind survivability i.e Bodyguard mode and with Pet AI, slowness and damage patches, this power would solve all that. Necromancy's new Soul Extraction only works when pets are in the immediate vicinity to spawn their souls. I don't want to waste time trying to track a stuck zombie. Pet AI is not the brightest. I want to be able to immediately position pets where it makes sense for them to reduce DPS loss. E.g. Thugs would be out of melee range and Necro, Ninjas would be in melee. A free power that has no recharge or a slight small cooldown to balance it would be great.

any blast set with a delayed damage component such as DOTs always feels less satisfactory than the sets with instant damage. good luck trying to keep up with the current team/meta

If I'm running a team and an AR blaster keeps spamming beanbag to "try and help" with survivability, I would probably kick them. Just do your job and do damage please.
