That is true, the badge is the extra. I don't see the harm in adding reward for those challenges tho outside of a badge

They shouldn't be, It'd been too long and the badge is too established imo Maybe when they first came out i could see that being a decision that should have been made.

You're increasing it's burst damage sure, on a single target. While this could be a first-step in a fix that doesn't involve a mechanic it wouldn't / shouldn't be the final step. Undoing the nerf does not fix the under-preforming issue. It's still a terrible set for AoE , a terrible utility set, and just in general a complete underwhelming set when compared to the other choices. Stun still sucks, whirling hands still sucks, it's side-mechanic of % stun still sucks. It'll still suck. On a side note, I'm basically done arguing about the mechanic not existing previously and those who don't want it changed. To me, that is no longer something -worth- arguing about as it's a personal flavor opinion. If you have issue with the specifics of the mechanic or alternative routes involving buffs/etc I'm game to talk.

Yeah, it might have the side effect of creating another TF recruitment headache like speed runs. Still, as long as its not like 30 extra merits and instead something minor like 5 it shouldn't be too bad.

I think that's general fear mongering for a problem that doesn't exist. If i could, that is a change i would make because i play exclusively on +4/x8. However, even being someone who does so, I wouldn't ever want to force or take away from someone who doesn't want to play that difficulty. I also believe there is a much higher player count who doesn't want/do +4 then there is who do. If this suggestion turns into what you said, I could see you saying dismissing it but that still isn't what he suggested. He only suggested adding extra Merits for Master Of challenge, not decreasing any rewards. That was you and only you. Basically what im saying is, You're judging his suggestion as a "no" for a change nobody was asking to be made. What are your thoughts on increasing merit rewards for Master of challenge modes and nothing else / no decreases anywhere else?

because at this point, it's pretty common place that the current rewards are what they are. If you lowered them just because some people didn't enjoy +4 there would be a lot of outrage. Genuinely, I'd be for such a change but you shouldn't push it on people only give motivation to further the challenge with the pre-set increases beyond the actual difficulty scale. So your example of the Oro challenges would also be cool.

I can see that, Ice Storm slows but it's not a great trade off for damage. Oh hmm, i thought it was higher. I'm not a blaster guy, a bit of a melee bum. I just love my ice blaster specifically 😄

Well as i said previously, My Blizzard has a recharge time of 33 seconds and can one shot entire +4/x8 groups aside from bosses, which are easily killed with the ST attacks. I think my only hang up on Ice Blast is probably Bitter Freeze Rays animation is a bit long. Which is good enough for me, not that im opposed to people thinking its underpowered and need buffs 😄 something i love getting buffs is cool with me man.

They re-posted the same opinion so that the current conversation re-saw their already stated opinion doubling down on mechanics being bad. Inviting pro-mechanics people to engage them to understand/discuss why they don't like them. Just stop dude.

I'll take your word on it, but not with Blizzard. 1 power killing a +4/x8 group isn't bad, it's not instant like inferno but it doesn't need to be, since i can use blizzard in every group but inferno is about every other group. Granted. Fire doesn't need inferno to kill a group about as fast as blizzard.

With IO's you can get blizzard so low on recharge you can use it literally every mob. Sure it doesn't kill the mob in 2-3 seconds, but it does it in like 10 seconds. Still pretty quick, especially since I'm talking +4 not even level. Also, I don't think Fire out does every set in ST but it certainly isn't bad at it.

So what you're saying is, people can tell me my opinion is wrong and bad but i cannot reply in defense of it because "Thats their opinion"? I've never once said your opinion is bad and you should feel bad, I have only ever defended my position or commented on someones concern about my position. I've even welcomed change in my own opinion when presented with a strong counter arguement of why they wouldn't like it, i commented exactly "You make a strong point , i can understand that". If you don't like people opposing your opinion or don't want to engage someone in their opinion, don't quote or comment on it. I've also said many times I was open to any and all changes to be tried and discussed.

He didn't suggest any of that. He just said if you complete the requirements for master you just get a small addition of merits. It's a pretty simple and straight forward suggestion At your speed, should you even earn master outside of +4/x8? questions nobody has ever cared to ask.

Objections This isn't really something that can be addressed. This is entirely on you to read a quick explanation of a ultra simple mechanic like the ones featured in city of heroes. EM's purposed Mechanic does not feature any of this, even if you do not see the buff that appears it will just work, there is no multi layering to the buff to keep track of. It appears and it gets used and regardless of what it is used on you benefit from its use. Beyond this i cannot defend the mechanic any further, i cannot answer any concerns you may have. If those answers are not good enough for you, then it is not good enough for you and you owe no further explanation of it not being good enough for you. Discussion is a take and give you can't really let it be a personal insult when someone disagrees with you because they may just be trying to explain their point of view since you have offered yours, when the difference in opinion is clearly a loop though, the only thing left to do is move on.

Shadow Shard TF Accolade Suggestions

My only problem is with the It's not that I don't like it, it just doesn't really fit with accolades since those aren't something everyone is going to have, though they can, they won't. I think just a boost to stat is likely a better choice since everyone regardless can benefit from it. Replacement ideas, Recharge/Accuracy/Tohit , 3% / 6% / 5% (only one tho not all 3) Also I'd go with slightly higher res bonus since def/res isn't 1 to 1 I'd go with a 3% res to match the 1.5% def -
I'm not trying to minimize your objection, I'd like to understand it better and to be honest if it's just because you don't want to side eye your buff bar to see if you have enough fun bucks to use a specific power, understandable but as the other posts before me have said, That's not the case with most sets bar Savage/Water/Street/Staff. Using EF as an example, It's a passive thing that can activate randomly when using specific powers or instantly when using TF. It's not something you have to pay attention to, it just kind of happens and you benefit from it. Also quick edit; you don't really have to watch your bar either. When you do trigger the mechanic on -most- sets with a gimmick, your powers highlight.

It was actually stalkers, AS > ET = dead Also i'm not sure where this gripe about mechanics comes from. Most "Mechanic" sets don't punish you for mindless play, though a guy above already went through and explain that. You'd think coh mechanics were this big mandatory strict thing instead of a off-thing you kinda follow / babies first rotation priority.

Cottage rule is an off-hand comment a dev said as a general guideline they follow and people took it too literal and it has now become anti-progress / balance. I wouldn't always consult it for every change unless you're literally trying to make energy melee shoot cottages.

Self rezzes in general, wish they had an alive activation purpose. I think sentinel regen is a good example of making a self rez cool

A part of the set under-preforming isn't about the ST damage in the first place. Your ST output with activation time removed on EM doesn't change a whole lot at the end of the day. The utility part of the set is the main problem. Whirling hands is god awful and stun doesn't do anything worth while. So the set even if changed would literally be Energy Transfer > Total Focus and everything else sucks. EM's utility is stun and it only works on one guy which in a team centric game and even solo play is pretty underwhelming. So if you just reverted ET you'd still have issues with your utility under preforming and your AoE also being bad. 2 bads and 1 good is still bad. A good example is probably Electric Melee. It does AoE amazingly and does -end pretty ok. Even though -end is a widely debated debuff, it still does it pretty well. It's ST isn't the strongest but it's still ok. So you have AoE Amazing / Utility good / ST good.

Look at Meltdown for an idea of what Paragon was gonna do to T9s. The "Crash" is basically gone and for good reason. Soft-crashing was the future to make T9s relevant again.
