  1. Don't forget about ParagonWiki! A great source for everything City of Heroes!
  2. Incidentally, I strongly suggest "Supergods" by Grant Morrison. A great read and exploration of the superhero phenomena
  3. The MCU is the biggest cinematic universe ever; it makes billions of dollars at the box office and from merchandising. This is a superhero renaissance. So why is NCSoft sleeping on this? Why aren't game companies making a Superhero MMO?
  4. Is that a new one for i24/i25? I don't think ParagonWiki has been updated since CoH shuttered.
  5. All the zone pages on ParagonWiki also have the badges listed on the bottom. Also note: If you are a Rogue, the badges have different names and descriptions!
  6. I love badges...I LOVE BADGES! I've dreamt about badge collecting since the game shuttered. You're right, OP, that beautiful badge notification animation is addicting. And then, THEN, I get to read about the badge! It's beautiful. I typically collect badges to either get the title, or to top off a level. Or to explore. Badges and Achievements (WoW) are one of my most favourite MMO things!
  7. You guys are doing amazing! I'm incredibly thankful for all that has happened in the last few weeks - All because of the Homecoming Team! The servers have been super stable and well administrated! Keep it up!
  8. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Wind_Control It seems really fascinating, I was looking at it today. What would be the concept?
  9. They're actually both the same flight speed and teleportation distance. To answer the OP, yes, technically Mystic Flight is better than Fly because it comes with Translocation and that's only difference between them. However, powers were always balanced in their sets as a whole, so... is the Sorcery pool better than the Flight pool? THAT can really depend. Sorcery comes with a few powers the normal travel powers don't: Buff: Spirit Ward [Ally, +Absorb over time] Ranged Attack: Arcane Bolt [Ranged, Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe Knockdown] Buff/Debuff: Enflame [Ranged Friend/Foe, Special] Self Buff: Rune of Protection [self, +Res(All Dmg, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Knockdown, Disorient)] That makes it quite a bit different than Flight Pool...That is also extra powers that can take up your own power slots. But, if you're a melee AT or a range AT, these powers can fill holes.
  10. All of this is true! However, for some of us; a very select few, City of Villains was our home and our first love. I knew about City of Heroes when it was released, but I never cared much for the heroes in comics. Villains were always far more interesting. And the antiheroes! When CoV came out, I was one of the first people to be there, in Siren's Call and Bloody Bay ready to fight heroes! Unfortunately, there was a distinct disadvantage - Heroes were all Hami-ed out with special Enchancements and Epic powers - We were fucked from thse start. I played City of Villains from 2004 to 2010 almost exclusively - until I switched to WoW. It wasn't even until Going Rogue that I tried City of Heroes! We villains are a small group, but we love our side of the game!
  11. Even at it's height, Villain numbers were down. I seriously think Going Rogue was an attempt to solve that. Incentive people to play Rogues or Vigilantes. I distinctly remember playing, going to Siren's Call or Recluse's Victory and having it be far more Heroes than Villains. We (redside) routinely got owned in almost all PvP. People would just rather play a Hero (or a Vigilante). Villains were always a niche market.
  12. I've signed on briefly twice this week - I don't have as much time now that I'm older between work, working out (decided I would be the hero I couldn't play online!), cats, and just living as an adult. BUT - the shards were really stable, despite being full. Kudos to the Homecoming Team!
  13. Ascendant. The news of his passing hit me pretty hard. Like Robin Williams'
  14. Champions Online imitated City of Heroes. That's the difference. One broke the mold. The other is a knockoff.
  15. I really want to make a Lovecraftian inspired Villain/Hero. Since CoH shuttered, I've really gotten into HP Lovecraft (problematic fave, I know). I can't seem to think up a costume/powerset I like; I'm leaning towards Dark/Time That aside, Time Manipulation really intrigues me. What can people tell me about the powerset, that I can glean from Paragon Wiki? How does it play? Is it a strong set? Has anyone experimented with it? How does it level?
  16. So happy there is a Pride channel already! Maybe one for CoHGuru if there are people around who remember that site/forum?
  17. This is on Everlasting? I have a Rad/Rad Mutant Brute (think the Hulk-ish) that would go into this. And a Mind/Psi Dom on heroside for the hero equivalent.
  18. If anyone hears from Mindswipe, please let me know or send him my way! I'd love to connect with him IRL.
  19. I played every Archetype Villain-side and a Scrapper before the game was shuttered. A small selection of my toons can be seen in the link in my signature. In 2019, I have the same character/build on every new shard, just because I'm jump on a new shard as it opens. Once I get a chance to play this week, I'll create on the new Unofficial RP shard again, for the last time. I also have a Rad/Rad Brute on Torchbearer. Really focused on Mind/Psi right now because that's all I've dreamed about for six years.
  20. I played on Virtue. I was friends with Mindswipe (online). I created a character, a EM/WP Brute that I could play with his supergroup. We were in Recluse's Victory fighting Hero supergroup for a storyline. I was wrecking and he was too. We were chatting via mic and just having a blast being villains. He even took some screenshots for the supergroup website and I used some for my Virtueverse character page. We spent a few hours in Recluse's Victory and had a blast. I remember it vividly. Unfortunately, after the game shuttered, I lose contact with Mindswipe. Thank-you so much for reviving this game. I've been playing WoW since the game closed. I love that game but it can never capture the feeling, that sense of wonder and excitement that City of Villains (Heroes) did. My first MMO. Thank-you Thank-you Thank-you Thank-you
  21. City of Villains was my first MMO! I, too, went to WoW (I played last night). I haven't installed the game yet, I will tonight. I am so excited to get back into the game!
