Make Bitter Freeze Ray a Snipe
America's Angel replied to Mr Pierce's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Giving Ice a 1.33s fast snipe that can slot 5 damage procs, on top of Ice having access to Ice Bolt/Ice Blast/Bitter Ice Blast/Freeze Ray (plus Char in the epics) would be bad for game balance. -

Oops! Meant Adrenal Boost. -
https://discord.gg/KPnj4ZURuc Up to you. But consider that A LOT of people who play this game are autistic, so the additional explanation of character motivation in the emote can aid understanding. (Especially in situations where dialogue is ambiguous/implicative.)

Sorcery Pool Updates in Issue 27, Page 2

Experimental Injection Adrenal Boost and Unleashed Potential are going to have 180s fixed recharges to match Rune IIRC. -
Fully-tintable, square tiles. Fully-tintable, triangle tiles. (The above square tile cut in half.) Both of them completely flush to the edge of the blue box thingie. Size-wise, you want four of the square tiles to fit perfectly in one floor square. (And possibly larger versions of the square/triangle tile which are 4x and 16x the size.)

The reason the Raptor Packs and P2W jump packs were disabled is because they were causing issues in PvP balance. Typically, PvPers will run Super Jump and Speed of Sound so they can zip around quickly. If they take too much damage, they use Jaunt (Speed of Sound's popup power) to teleport to the top of the map. Raptor packs allowed them to remain at the top of the map indefinitely after this. Raptor Packs also allow players using superjump to "slingshot" themselves in the air, at maximum jump height/speed, by quickly toggling Raptor Pack on and off. This is a huge buff to your movement for such a cheap temp power. It basically meant you could move at maximum jump speed...whilst never touching the ground! Now, you can do all the above with Flight. But that means you're taking Superjump, Speed of Sound, AND Flight. That's a huge number of power pools dedicated to just movement. And this is what helps make Flight balanced compared to Raptor Packs - if you take Flight, you're missing out on other stuff that could be better. (Such as Leadership, Concealment, Medicine, etc.) I know you don't PvP, @Jacktar, but I figured you might be curious. (Glad you got the badges!)
-
You can buy temporary jetpacks and jumppacks from the vendor in the PvP zone. (Or from the arena vendor in the regular arenas/Pocket D store.) Please note: these PvP Temp Powers have a very short time limit. So the best thing to do is super speed up to wherever the badge is, and then briefly use the PvP Temp Power to get the badge. I tested this in beta and was able to get every single exploration badge in the PvP zones this way.

You are misinformed about the PvP community in this game, and this is causing you to spread incorrect information. As I said in my last post, PvPers in this game are welcoming of change, and do not desire to abuse broken stuff. The evidence of this is all of the PvP nerfs that the PvP community asked for, and that were implemented, in Page 1 and Page 2 of Issue 27. Below is a sample of some of those changes. By definition, players who want to "abuse broken stuff" would not ask for (and then agree with the implementation of) any of the following nerfs: PvP zones now obey the same rules as the arena when it comes to banning powers: This means that anything previously disabled in the Arena will now be disabled in PvP zones Arena temporary powers now work in PvP zones. All Incarnate powers other than Alpha are disabled in PvP zones. The following powers are now disabled in the Arena and in PvP zones: Most Mayhem / Safeguard powers Empowerment Station buffs crafted in bases Most Day Job powers Cathedral of Pain buffs Various prestige / temporary powers Fast Snipes No longer grant a +50% range buff in PvP Temporary Powers Envenomed Dagger's regeneration debuff is now Scale 1.0 non-stackable when used against player -Jump Adjustments All powers that do -jump have had their effectiveness significantly lowered. Temp Powers > Raptor Pack Duration reduced from 2 minutes to 45 seconds Pool > Experimentation > Jaunt In PvP, this power now recharges in 30s Empathy > Absorb Pain (All Versions) Self Debuffs have been increased from 20s to 25s Poison > Envenom Resist Debuff lowered from 40% to 30% (defender values) Stalker > Melee (All Sets) Powerhouse made a large pass through every stalker set to reorganize their effects and make sure their crit damage was correct in both, PvP and PvE. This means powers like Greater Psy Blade might do less damage when scoring a critical hit on players, now. There were also a series of PvP-only nerfs to the new revamp of Trick Arrow. Trick Arrow was INSANELY broken in PvP, and when PvPers were given two options - to nerf it into oblivion or leave it as it is - they picked nerfing it into oblivion. It's important to note that the above changes were only added to the game after consensus from the PvP community was found. (Everyone had to agree that the nerfs were a good idea, or they would not be implemented.) Nobody argued against these nerfs so, once again, there was nobody present who wanted to "abuse broken stuff". It's also worth pointing out that all of the above changes to the game have been welcomed by PvPers. So, to recap: PvPers don't like "abusing broken stuff". The opposite is true. They like a well-balanced game, and will often campaign for nerfs to help with this. PvPers don't "dislike change". All of the above changes to the game were welcomed by PvPers. I hope this helped clear things up for you, and anyone else reading the thread.

Top 10 Ranked 5/30/2021: 1. Madvillain 2. Alouu 3. America's Angel 4. T Mart (NEW ENTRY) 5. magecow 6. Blackhearted 7. Ridicc. 8. Seductive 9. Mushroom 10. Kencian Ranking is based on ELO score. (Source: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZetLGnWhKXeE9o_5KG3ZI-rpdhde5YigzQlorIsOR4k/edit?usp=sharing) Reasons for movement: No real movement this week apart from T Mart jumping into the top 10 thanks to a 4-0 clean sweep of all four ranked rounds at Sunday's Fightclub Event. Remember what I said last week about Regen possibly not being the top armour set anymore? Turns out that's not the case. T Mart's Claws/Regen is a beast. Speaking of Sunday's Fightclub event, this week we had an "Off Meta" ruleset (Players were able to bring non-melee characters, as long as they fought with them in melee range.) Madvillain's Illusion/Poison was seriously dangerous - it melted nearly everything it touched! I would be surprised if the dev team add an open-world duel request system that behaves almost identically to what we already have. (Instanced.) They'd have to create a custom PvP map with dedicated spawn points (and observer spawn points) for every map instance in the game. (That's hundreds of maps.) A better thing to focus on, IMO, is allowing base builders the option to flag PvP on/off in their bases. That way people can host public events.
-
Already possible: Type /arenalist Set up match. Pick Atlas map. Right click on other player, select "Invite to Arena Event"
-
It would help get eyes on events for sure. I imagine the platform under the Atlas statue would 100% be where everyone dueled. (Or in the cage in Pocket D, which I imagine would be opened up if this system was ever implemented.)

Just wanted to correct this: the reason PvPers largely rejected the live devs changes is because those changes were bad, not because PvPers wanted to "abuse broken stuff". PvPers in CoH have a vested interest in good game balance. Because a well balanced game is a competitive one. You can see this in the beta testing discord - many of the changes PvPers are currently asking for are nerfs to overperforming powers. (Such as the fortunata chance to placate proc.) And many of the changes we've already seen implemented have been nerfs to overperforming powers - every single one being something we asked for. The idea that PvPers just want to "abuse the broken stuff" might apply to other games, but it doesn't here.

ski timers aren't very accurate
America's Angel replied to MJB's topic in [Open Beta] Bug Report Archive
On Everlasting, the timer seems to be working correctly again. What's interesting is some of the times are still showing the 2s interval scoring. So I'm guessing the timer didn't start working straight away after the server reset on Tuesday. Curious to know what's causing this. Screenshot below taken today on the Everlasting server at 11:44pm GMT+1. -
Extreme Social Distancing - 1v1 Ranged Tourney 6/19
America's Angel replied to CR Mochi's topic in The Arena (PvP)
@America's Angel2 -
I would love this, but I'm a PvPer so I'm biased. I imagine the idea is probably a non-starter, though. It would change how City of Heroes "feels" too much. If there's people PvPing right next to a costume contest/at an RP party/at a Hamidon raid/in the middle of a task force/etc, then the "tone" of the game changes. Suddenly environments that are chill become competitive. (And if there's one thing I've learned promoting PvP events in CoH...it's that the vast vast majority of people playing this game really hate competitive environments.) If you have a free evening, go and spend it in Recluse's Victory on Indomitable. Read the Broadcast channel. And then ask yourself if you want Atlas Park broadcast to be like that 24/7. Because that is what this change would lead to IMO.

Put all mission objectives on the map.

This suggestion will have zero impact on PvP. -
Excelsior. Because it has the most players on. And therefore the most redside players.

Top 10 Ranked 5/23/2021: 1. Madvillain 2. Alouu 3. America's Angel (+8) 4. magecow 5. Kencian 6. Blackhearted 7. Ridicc. 8. WhoRu 9. Mushroom (+8) 10. Moldevite Ranking is based on ELO score. (Source: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZetLGnWhKXeE9o_5KG3ZI-rpdhde5YigzQlorIsOR4k/edit?usp=sharing) Reasons for movement: Sunday's Fightclub event on Indomitable saw my DM/EA scrapper and Mushroom's Kat/Nin Scrapper both do well. What's interesting is last week the top spots were Rad Armour characters, and this week it was defense-based characters. (And in both weeks, Alouu's Dm/EA Brute also did well.) All of this makes me wonder if Regen's reputation at the #1 armour set for PvP is coming to an end... If you had enough influence you could probably control the Hamidon Origin market.
