Tankers/Brutes Should Have Fear Mez Protection
Spaghetti Betty replied to Projector's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think this might be a case of anecdotal bias! I too agree that it's not a big deal and actually quite interesting that some armor sets grant protections others don't and vice versa. Why exactly does Indomitable Will grant Repel protection? The bias itself definitely comes from how much of the Fear effect was injected into Hard Mode LGTF. It's everywhere. The mobs spam it and getting caught in a Nullification Field will also Fear you. Quite frankly, it walks the line between interesting and annoying, since even armors that do grant Fear protection don't grant enough to mitigate how intensely it's layered onto the team. But I think that's where you're feeling it the most! Also, it would ruin the challenge of some of my AE mobs just a smidge! -
I think it's 10 seconds, but I'm not sure exactly. I'm sure someone will pop in and correct me if I'm wrong!

Absolutely! This is the current conundrum I'm having with mine as well. I did a little toying and found out that with my previous rotation, switching Uppercut and Snipe in the lineup yielded way better damage, but the recharge is off by a second and a half or so without Ageless. So, do I take Barrier for armor, or stay Ageless for damage? I guess it won't really matter if I team with a Kin, Time, or Marine! I have my own predilections about Sweeping Cross not being a very desirable power in the grand scheme of things - mainly it being a pretty subpar way to spend your Combo (if only there was a pool power that was the exact same thing without a Combo gimmick. Hmmm....), but it's besides the point! Web Grenade could be valuable if you need a big target to stay still, whether it be an AV, or a pesky PVPer that keeps speeding away! It's a very situational pick, though! It's not going to be an extremely meta Epic pick in the slightest, but if you like it for theme, then I could mention that Exploding Shuriken is actually pretty alright as an AoE, which is something you have very little access to.

Don't sleep on Cross punch! It's a fantastic proc bomber. SS also gets great value from it since there aren't many fantastic attacks in the set to choose from! If you watch my videos, it's a very strong part of the rotation.

Ok, I'm back from a trip and I have time to review this! I want to touch on both of these, because your decision isn't wrong, but I also have reasons to not do it! I am making a lot of effort towards overcompensating on accuracy. This is because I have zero protection to -tohit, and I have to eat all debuffs as is. At the end of the day, it's a buffer, and not one that other armor choices would necessarily have to build up. This is also why Rage has to have the +Perception IO in it. It gives me just enough protection against Blind Though I have been Smoke Nade/Will Dom spammed by Arachnos plenty of times. There are a lot of dancing parts here that when working together add up to me not needing doublestacked Rage 100% of the time. And this is where I say having some extra procs and unslotters on hand is the most optimal if you plan on team buffs circumventing that! Also that little bit of F/C RES is nice! You absolutely should give this a try and I will not budge on it being a massive boon on any toon (almost all) that benefits from having an epic hold! Still, thank you for your time and I appreciate anyone that will actually give Regen a fair chance!

I understand where you're coming from, and I do usually skip self rezzed on other armors. But due to the nature of Regen, I consider dying an inevitability! As for Psi Mastery, I opted to not take it simply due to Harmonic Mind (don't really need another recovery power) and Psi Tornado (slow) not being incredibly favorable picks for this type of play style. Fireball is an incredibly fast activation and deals more damage. Melt Armor increases my crowd clearing power by a good amount. Also, Cross Punch is an incredibly valuable choice as an SS due to it being great DPA and benefiting highly from Rage. I consider the cleaving nature of it a bonus!

That certainly might have more DPS than 8 Excalibonks! -
It's always those pesky farmers looking to make a quick buck, and it seems the powers that be always want to help them under the guise of "promoting economic growth" and "preventing freefall of resources". Now we have millions of pounds of cheese stored in underground caves and private, government-funded agencies slipping cash to major restaurants and public schools to shove more unnecessary dairy into our food! Oh, you're talking about in-game farmers! Those guys are alright!

Speaking of LGTF, I've ran into the opposite problem before! We were running All Corruptors or Defenders. This made dealing with yellow mitos a bit of a head scratcher, until someone brought up that Dominate has no positional tag and will damage them pretty cleanly! There are a lot of creative ways to deal with plenty of situations if you put your thinkmeat to good use! -
Here's my StJ/Ice build, for what it's worth! Sacred Duster - Stalker (Street Justice - Ice Armor).mbd

If it works, it works! During my testing, I found I absolutely needed some kind of extra filler attack to make all of the activations sync up properly. I could see how using Ageless in conjunction with recharge slotting could make a 5th attack unnecessary, but I haven't done any of my own experimenting with it to say for sure. I'd love to see the results of your testing!

This looks good! I haven't been at my PC for quite awhile, so I'm not able to make super dialed in tweaks at the moment. And I definitely have way more experience with Scrapper StJ than I do Stalker. I'm always super weary about not having a recharge in CU because you need something like 200% recharge in it to have a seamless rotation with 4 other clicks included. This is achievable with other sources like Speed Boost or Ageless Core spam, so if you know you'll have at least one of those on tap, I can see it working out! I think if there are any attacks that could be proc bomb'd safely, it would be Shin Breaker and Spinning Strike! They are both in that sweet spot of having good proc chance without the lack of recharge messing up your rotation!
-
Hullo! I actually happen to be doing a bit of research into StJ/ Stalking as well. I have a good foundation since my main, Spaghetti Betty, is a StJ/Rad Scrapper! So I get that it feels like using anything outside of the primary feels like a waste because of the combo system, but the special thing about the Stalker variant is that AS gives 2 combo points! This allows you a lot of flexibility in your rotation, seeing as how fast AS is already a super important part of it for Stalkers in general. And I wouldn't be too worried about trying to build 3 Assassin's Focus every time you click fast AS, either. It's already such a high-DPA attack that the crit is a bonus, and you want the Hide proc going off as often as possible! Another thing. I know it seems tantalizing to run only procs in Crushing Uppercut, but you really need this on as short of a timer as possible. It contains pretty much all of the damage in the set. That being said, my StJ/Ice runs a rotation like this: Shin Breaker -> Heavy Blow -> AS(hide) -> Epic Snipe -> Crushing Uppercut Very rarely do I have to deviate from this rotation, and the only glaring issue I've had with it is that the Hide proc is used on the Snipe instead of Uppercut. It still dishes out a ton of damage, and I can always use Placate to force a crit every 20 seconds or so. As far as the build goes, it looks serviceable to me, though I would find ways to inject some Slow RES into it!

Thanks! I really just wanted a layered top of some sort that allowed me to have detailed animal fur underneath! This was the best option I could find. -
So, you're losing out on a ton of potential global recharge by only slotting 4 pieces of Crushing Impact in your attacks. I also think you have a few too many attacks as it is. You can drop Stone Fist and Hurl Boulder. I would also pick up Fault. You're doing yourself a huge disservice by not having it. It basically turns you into a melee Controller, which is huge when pairing with Regen. You really need to reduce the amount of opportunities mobs have to deal damage to you. It also takes a Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge proc, as do most Stone Melee attacks. If you pepper these into your build, the mere act of fighting will accelerate the recharge of your clicks! Also, I would train 5-slotting Dull Pain, Integration (and later Instant Healing) with Panacea! Preventive Medicine also needs to make its way in there somewhere (specifically the Absorb proc needs to go in asap)! You should also slot Winter's Gift: Slow RES into Super Jump. It's a free 20% and you absolutely need Slow RES! As a further aside, you should consider focusing on a pool that offers some sort of pseudo-T9, such as Sorcery, Presence, or Force of Will. My favorite is Rune of Protection!

See, I think this is where Regeneration is very misunderstood. Yes, the set is about healing, but mitigation has never, ever been about healing alone. Healing is just a very important part of "active mitigation", just like crowd control! In a team scenario, Regeneration is designed to provide the active mitigation, while outside support sets in a team scenario provided the passive mitigation, such as DEF or RES buffs. You can even see this back in the early days of perma-MoG and toggle Instant Healing. Both of these tools served the function of substituting the passive mitigation that teams were supposed to provide. This game is designed around team play, after all - MoG and toggle IH were byproducts of the horribly imbalanced legacy Enhancement system. Reconstruction and Dull Pain were designed to pad that. It's just that after the legendary nerf, these tools that essentially replaced the need for team buffs went away, making Regeneration a set that only provided padding for outside buffs and not much else! The idea isn't to heal the damage away completely, it's to have heals on the back burner for when your team's support fails! Thankfully, the game has evolved in a way that allows Regeneration to resume it's original function even when solo. It just requires a lot of outside investment, like inspirations or pool powers. Is it a good design? Well, that's subjective. I like the playstyle of Regeneration a lot. It puts a lot of load on the player to really understand every combat scenario the game can throw at you. Could it use a few buffs? Absolutely! But I will still double down on the fact that Regeneration has the largest growth potential in a team scenario out of any other armor set in the game, and I believe that design philosophy is on purpose! That is why balance passes on it are very touchy!
-
Maybe if my attention span stays on the idea long enough! Also, I would want to level up a fresh Regenner from 1-50 again just so I know I'm not talking out of my nethers!
-
Not terrible if you don't mind Inspirations being your primary form of armor for a large portion of it. Getting your burst mitigation tools early helps a lot, too. Much like Blaster soloing, I would probably be hitting a Nurse/Medic for a refill before most missions. A lot of my Regen toons are capable of soloing +2x8 by level 35 with minimal insps.

Did you have Char switched on? It contains Decimation: Chance for Build Up. It has very reliable uptime since all epic holds got normalized to 24s base recharge. It's a nifty little trick to give you damage spikes during your rotation!

Hello again! So, I dusted off my SS/Regen for the first time in awhile. As, I was playing, an interesting thought occurred to me: How can I tweak this? I think this is something every theory crafter in this game can relate to. See, I was noticing a very key detail that has come to bother me in my ascent to Agent of Chaos. With the Gloom recharge nerf, I no longer had a seamless attack chain! In fact, it was pretty rough! So I did what any goblin would do, and I started brainstorming ways to fix that gap, even if it meant losing a bit of mitigation in the process! This is admittedly a very scary thought process when it comes to working with Regen, but that's never stopped me! After a few days, I came up with this! Kerpow! SSRegen2024 - Brute (Super Strength - Regeneration).mbd Now that I have the pretty picture in front of you, lemme go ahead and divulge what all has changed! A new, seamless attack rotation* - Whereas the old build was running something like (Punch -> Haymaker -> Gloom -> KO Blow -> [other things]), this one is possible of using (Haymaker -> Cross Punch -> KO Blow/Char). It also has a lot of new, fun tools, such as the aforementioned Char and Melt Armor. This helps immensely with damage! +-With Hasten active Slightly less overall mitigation - A smidge of survivability overall has been traded off. Fast Healing is gone, which is a penalty of about 100% regeneration. This build also has 4% less RES across the board. The biggest blow to mitigation here is the loss of Hand Clap. Having an AoE KD/Stun on demand puts in a lot of work, and I can really feel not having it. Oh well, I'll just play harder to compensate! Hahahahaha... Anyways, I'm pretty satisfied with how this has turned out! I even cooked up some demos for your viewing pleasure! Above, I drag this hulking monster through a controversial enemy group - the NuCouncil! Besides the fact that Galaxy soldiers probably have the most annoying new power in the game, this goes relatively well, even with all massive additions of Negative damage! I even make some cheeky pulls towards the end to really see what the build can do! And then, just for kicks, I took on a +4 Infernal! I figured this would be a pretty good benchmark, considering Infernal does a ton of common damage (Lethal) and a good amount of exotic damage (Fire). Yes, I did use a Lore and Evenomed Daggers, but they were there to speed the fight up. I still had to mitigate all of the incoming damage. This is a really good example of how close to the chest a build like this has to be played. I even left a death in at the very end, just to highlight that getting lazy just for a little bit leads to floor munching. I thought he was dead! We'll just act like it didn't happen. As always, I welcome all feedback, questions, or comments! Thanks for reading!

Tank farming - Not sure if this is right, but it works!
Spaghetti Betty replied to Diantane's topic in Tanker
The neat thing about farming with a Tanker is that any one of them can be built to farm with ease! Sure, some combos won't farm as fast, but the only real criteria to meet for farming is not dying! -
PSA: Bonus XP on Lower Populated Shards Coming to an End
Spaghetti Betty replied to Lunar Ronin's topic in General Discussion
Just my opinion, but all the bonus XP did was compel farmers to take their business to the lower pop servers. It missed the mark a little bit in moving permanent traffic from the two giants. It was a temporary bonus anyways, so I'm not really upset by its departure.- 56 replies
