  1. I really could care less about the superhero skin this game has. I'm sure I'm in the minority here. I stay for the gameplay loop. If you slapped this expansive of a character creator in any MMO it would probably see a huge boost in sales based on that alone. However, I'd reckon it would be really hard to get the perfect storm of dungeon crawling, freedom within classes, and viability of soloing and team building in a package different from CoH. They clearly tried that with Guild Wars 2, and, IMO, that game was boring. It's also this reason why I don't think a hypothetical CoH 2 would ever catch fire like this does. If you change or remove any of those elements, it's just not the same. Also, if I could take all that makes CoH and just slap a different aesthetic on it, it would totally be an occult fantasy game dealing with european mythos, much like The Secret World. That game's environments and lore were actually pretty dope.
  2. Maybe one day I'll have enough notoriety to be put on a list.
  3. Just dinged 30 awhile ago. I gotta say, I'm glad I got a real chance to take a second look at Sonic Blast through this. Always dismissed it because it's lacking in real punch. However, the added -res really lets the melee from /elec shine. Even though I was hovering all the time for theme, I found myself doing the most work when I could get in and throw out my punches. 1-20 was pretty smooth sailing, but that's about when I had to start leaning more into temp buffs and procs in Howl to keep moving at a reasonable pace. What IOing I did was more of a "I got a few slots, let's try something fun" and less of a "man, I really care if I die a lot." My 3 blasts all got Entropic Chaos: Chance to Heal (which went off pretty reliably) and Power Transfer: Chance to Heal in my melee (which also went off pretty reliably), loaded up Howl with damage procs so I had some kind of AoE damage. and took Screech and threw a Chance for Build Up in it (which went off way more than I thought it would). This actually didn't go too bad all things considered. I solo'd x8 for most of it, only bumping down to x5 when I decided to do Agent Watson's arc. I'm actually really interested in this toon's potential fully IO'd. Here's some action shots.
  4. Hey, I made that. Cool. Also, you normally can't select auras labelled as Eye or Head (I used the Firey Hair here) when using the Headless head, but you can trick the creator by using a regular head option, setting the aura you want, then changing to Headless. The only downside is that it'll revert the next time you open the costume creator.
  5. My first roll was for a Mace/Shield Brute. Wanted something a little more unorthodox, so I rolled again. Sonic/Elec Blaster. Alright. Here's Bat Terry
  6. This is how most of my toons end up on my roster. By force.
  7. It's been kind of an in-joke in my friend circle that I would never make Spaghetti Betty, but peer pressure won. Spaghetti Betty, Street Justice/Super Reflexes Scrapper "Exclusive DLC" alternate costume Heavily influenced by Street Fighter and other fighting games.
  8. Yup, this. Even better if you grab Power Boost. You'll forget what taking damage is like.
  9. The door for his last mish is always in the same spot, right? The lvl up insps should last long enough that you could run over to Argosy Industrial and herd up a group of lvl 6s for some easy xp. A giant herd of green cons still give decent rewards at that low of a lvl.
  10. My home life in general just has me getting up from my desk often. It's the main reason I spend most of my time soloing. The other reason being that I pretty much only have time to play in the wee hours of the morning - usually between midnight and 3 AM. If I do team, it's for something short or a group of friends that don't mind me AFKing every now and then.
  11. If you're talking about trying to fit some odd powerset combo into a vampire theme, I'd say the sky's the limit. Vampires are everywhere in all kinds of fiction doing crazy stuff. I can think of an example of one that gets decapitated, but lives anyway, kills his brother on a sinking boat, possesses his body, and returns with control over a spiritual entity that has the ability to stop time. And then some stuff happens in Egypt. Personally, I'm not huge into vampires, but I think I would mess with a BS/Dark Scrapper or Brute, take the Sorcery pool and some offensive-leaning Epic pool to signify a mastery over a variety of magic. That might be pretty fun. Lots of elements coming together. I'm gonna go think of a toon name now.
  12. My Mace/Elec scrapper ended up pretty fun. Endurance was a little tight but Power Sink fixed that right up.
  13. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but if I'm in a team and don't feel like tanking, I'll bring this Blaster. Huge AoE damage. Proc-bombing Ice Arrow makes up for it's somewhat lackluster ST damage. With no melee powers (also something I normally don't find fun), you really can just hang back and hail mary everything in front of you. Survivability is great too. Whatever damage does end up glancing you gets healed up passively pretty quickly. Also EX's extremely well and isn't too shabby at soloing, but thrives with a teammate that can soak aggro.
  14. Wow, just wow. This is some crazy Mids-fu. I can't wait to actually plug this in and give it a spin. Actually glad I never kitted that toon out on live. Personally, I think the only thing I would change is swapping out Taunt with Combat Jumping. I can't just skip out on my precious jumping mobility. I take it on every toon. However, I can deal with not having taunt as a crowd control, at least on a Brute. I appreciate the time you took taking my wild idea and expanding upon it. I've learned quite a bit from this project and it ended up being a ton of fun.
  15. After very little deliberation I've decided that it's all of the above.
  16. The same reason you commented about Invuln in a thread about Regen. Because I can.
  17. As far as Shadow Maul is concerned, my experience is that it's great on Tankers. It's range is astronomical for them with the changes. Pretty solid cone for how early you get it. (But still skippable if you have enough other avenues for AoE. My SR/Dark needs it. My Fire/Dark definitely doesn't.) I've never had an issue with procs firing in Touch of Fear. Putting in any kind of chance for KB turns it into a good mitigation tool. I would just never slot it for fear. At this point, I would almost argue against skipping Dark Consumption. I feel like if your recharge is high enough it will put in a lot of work and you can save the slots on Quick Recovery and Stamina. In the Whirlwind build, I dropped Quick Recovery in favor of it since I needed to fill my blue bar quickly instead of gradually. And as far as defense goes, well, that's why I started seeking out Regen Brute over Scrapper.
  18. Oh crap, I guess I could give an update since this has more eyes on it. @Koopak and I ran Mender Silos a while back to see how my Whirlwind build would stand up to AVs. Just as I thought, this is not an AV build, but I was going toe to toe with a +4 Silver Mantis and I didn't die immediately. Looking back, I wonder if having some trash mobs around during the encounter would've changed things a bit. I will edit that build with the Incarnates I was using, since I never got around to it. But as far as improving that in any way, I'm a little stumped.
  19. That is the gimmick of the set. Keep in mind, every attack lays on a ton of damage. You'll have to find a quick attack to start your Momentum, or use Build Momentum. As you get more attacks, you'll notice the initial slow strike less. My attack pathing usually looks something like Crushing Blow, 3 other attacks, Build Momentum, 5 or 6 more attacks. If done right, only the initial Crushing Blow is slow. Oh, and slapping a Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge into every power that takes it will turn you into a blender at low levels.
  20. There's a Chinese mom and pop shop down the street that's usually my first choice to order To Go from. Always support your local businesses.
  21. AFAIK the only vill groups in PI radios are Council, CoT, Arachnos, and Carnies. Grandville papers get way more choices, but not Rikti. You have to go to RWZ for endless Rikti door missions.
  22. You know, I had a whole wall typed out, because I like the idea of giving council a buff, then I realized everything I was coming up with was just stuff Longbow already does. Still gonna +1 the original idea because I do think some Carnie stuff could be ported over to Vamps and Galaxies to make them more threatening.
