  1. When I first started the game way back when. Buying Resistance enhancements for my Ice Armor Tanker. Didn't understand why I was dying all the time.
  2. I'm pretty sure that's required.
  3. I'm sure I have lots of fans. I've never seen them or heard from them, but I know they're out there. I'm extremely famous.
  4. This is the best part of the rez
  5. Here's an Arachnos radio. I made a ton of mistakes and misclicks during combat so it isn't perfect. Should've had my coffee first. I actually did the MJ mission with Chimera and DE without realizing my recording software wasn't working, so I unfortunately didn't capture that. I'd be more than welcome to meet up in game as well (on Beta server) in order to do more stress testing, it's just that my weekend schedule is always ridiculous. Just send me a PM and we can set up a time.
  6. I understand what y'all are saying. I am fighting at +4x8 and I use every trick in the book. I guess it would help if I included Ageless Radial and Melee Hybrid in the build but I always forget to list Incarnates. Juggling MoG, Dark Consumption, and Ageless keeps my end bar up in a firefight, plus I'm not necessarily keeping Whirlwind on 100% of the time. It requires a lot of attention to play. Trust me, I'm surprised at how well I was performing because on paper it looks like trash.
  7. So, I've been absorbing a lot of what you guys have been saying and doing a lot of trial, error, and respeccing on my own. I understand that between Darkest Night + Dark Melee, softcap isn't necessarily required (maybe for incarnate content, but I hardly do that outside of a team), and the -to hit stacking means I can get away without having a few keys tools other */Regen toons might need. However, when it came to gaining necessary other mitigation, I ended up somewhere far different. Whirlwind was just kinda solving everything problem I put in front of it. 54 CoT, Malta, Longbow, Cims, were all handled pretty soundly without too many close calls. Is it winning any DPS races? Absolutely not. I do appreciate all the help. This project has been a real eye opener on how far the boundaries of this set can be pushed.
  8. I haven't abandoned the thread. Work got busy this week so I wasn't able to sit down and do testing until very recently. The build @Nemu shared far exceeded my original one in testing (could pull entire rooms using Darkest Night and survive), but I was observing some very similar stuff to mine when it came to really stressful bits: if I had to use Reconstruction I was basically already dead. Wise use of Dull Pain, IH, and MoG kept me the most alive. Which has me curious about possibly dropping Recon and seeking other avenues of soft mitigation. If I have some kind of eureka moment I will definitely post an update.
  9. My in game global is the same as my forum handle. Thanks
  10. The Aspect of Steel, Electric Armor/Titan Weapons Tanker In case you couldn't tell, I really like making Elementals.
  11. Disregard, still learning desktop UI
  12. So, I'm kinda on @Bill Z Bubba's side on this one, at least on the mez protection bit. I tend to not play Blasters/Insert squishy here too much when I can just play another AT that has mez protection and won't die and deals a dump truck of damage. But, part of me also feels that suddenly granting those ATs mez protection makes them lose a little bit of identity, even if it is at the cost of a pool power pick. So what? I just won't take Hasten if it means I can absorb even 1 mez or two and keep playing, because mez is dumb. I don't mind being grounded, but knowing I'm pretty much just waiting for a timer to run out is annoying. And no, I don't consider Incarnates a factor in this because they're a separate problem entirely. However, I could see this idea being used for new Epic Pools. I could totally wait til 35 for free mez protection on my Blasters. Those pools are meant to stretch the limit of what your AT is capable of anyways. Scorp Shield or Mez Protection? *sweats* As for the Debuff Resistance portion, it would have to be a really small amount to not be broken, but I think could benefit tons of toons in different ways.
  13. I'd imagine it's not really a popular choice, but there is some neat utility to be had, but other choices are probably better. Some ATs get an AoE immob that can come in handy, and as far as I know, most if not all versions of this pool have that cone blast that deals KB, so you could get creative with it's application. But the main problem with Mace Mastery for me isn't that you pull out an arachnos mace, but that other pools usually do a lot better job covering holes in a build. You know, except for Scorpion Shield.
  14. Well, you don't have to order them. You could just stand around and wait for someone to attack you, then they'll act. For bonus points, you could say stuff like "Hey guys, this isn't the time nor the place" or "Your mom is a very nice person, Greg. I'm sure he's just having a bad day".
  15. Are MMs excluded from this? Technically, you could just let your minions do all the fighting.
  16. Thanks a lot for the input. Building up S/L defense didn't occur to me. I don't play enough Brutes and it didn't click that I could just 3-piece Brute's Fury and build off of that foundation. I wasn't using Smite in my attack rotation so I didn't bother slotting it, but I can see where you're going with it. I did do some small testing on my own with what I came up with and it did fine in general content. Darkest Night and positioning was doing more work than my click heals were, which is some food for thought. All that being said, the build you posted pretty much blows mine out of the water and gives me a lot to think about. I'll do some more testing and report back.
  17. I don't know what you guys are talking about. Having to strap myself to my chair and buy new speakers every time I use Soul Drain in a mob is half the fun of playing Dark Melee. I've been to the hospital 3 times this week because the shockwave from the sound explosion keeps fracturing my ribs. That's how I know I'm really gaming.
  18. My main Scrapper is Staff Fighting. My main Brute is Street Justice. I have absolutely no qualms with resource building mechanics. It adds more flavor to the "tab 1-2-3" playstyle. Some sets do it better (Staff Fighting) while others I have a real big problem with (Savage Melee). Now, if we're talking about a rigid combo structure ala Dual Blades, that's one of those things that I feel makes DB unique and should be left alone there. And stuff like Impact in Gravity, which is more "set 'em up, knock 'em down," is completely fine. I mean, honestly, that's almost like saying debuffing a mob before you blast it is too much work. I know there are people like this, don't remind me. Personally, if we're just talking about potentially adding new sets that cash out a built up resource, it should only serve to help the set perform better (Staff Fighting, Nrg Melee) and not hinder you for not always being on top of the gimmick (Savage Melee).
  19. Added Winter's Gift to SJ so it wasn't empty. Some other minor tweaks as well.
  20. I always forget to slot my travel power with anything until I'm in game. I'll update the link with it slotted next time I'm at my PC. Thanks.
  21. Regeneration seems to be a hot topic as of late, so it's gotten my brain juices juicing on what I could pair with it to make something that truly screams, "Hey, tough guy. I'm pretty mediocre and I'm looking for a fight." So this is what I came up with. I'm gonna pop this into beta at some point to see what kind of mileage I can truly get out of this bad boy. I'm completely open to critiques and shared builds of your own if you have one. Thanks for reading.
  22. I agree. Needs more spitting animations. Including the rez. Let me vomit teammates to life.
  23. Heh, nice. I'm behind the idea of MMs getting some kind of big desperation thing, but I don't know if it's summoning (or merging with the power of friendship) one big guy. I would be more on board with this "Now, you die!" button leaning more towards commanding your pets to use a one-off big attack.
  24. I think it's fine. It does what it's supposed to do well. Solid, (mostly) unresistable damage that can be fired from a very safe range. I do wish Psychic Scream was a little bit better though. It's one of the coolest powers to me, visually. Also, I feel like the Blaster version could toss Scramble Thoughts for Psychic Scream since it already has a bunch of ST attacks and Will Domination is a slightly better power. But I say this while also being guilty of not taking a Psychic Blast anything very far, mostly because I don't play a lot of Defenders/Corrs and if I make a Blaster, it's in melee, which isn't really Psychic Blast's forte. Guess I gotta make a Psychic/ blapper now.
  25. There's a lot of factors to be considered here. You say you are soloing, but at what difficulty? What is your budget like? For me, I would probably do something like the build below, but I don't necessarily factor in cost. I just build for what seems fun.
