  1. Hard "NO" on anything in that last sentence, especially the last part. If you're under 18, don't advertise it. Basic online safety 101. Only say so as a tool to get out of a bad situation (and then report the person harassing you so that we can take action). That said, don't lie about your age, either. You can just say "I'm a minor" and leave it at that. If someone presses for specifics, that's probably a red flag. If you're over 18, pretending to be a minor (either IRL or in-character) for the purpose of inviting ERP, for whatever reason or end-goal, will result in an account ban. And I definitely wouldn't advertise one's trauma's, especially if you're just making stuff up. Not just for your own sake, but I'm sure plenty of people would be very upset that something that actually happened to them was being used as a joke in another person's profile. Also, it's against the CoC as we prohibit discussion of real-world crimes. So, yeah, while I know where you're coming from and probably mean well, this is actually really awful advice!
  2. @J_Wolf_13 I wanted to take a moment to answer your concerns more directly. First, colorful superheroes aside, we do not consider this a "kid's game". We do not allow anyone under 13 to play on our servers, if that's any indication (if you find out someone under 13 is playing here, let us know). That said, we also strive to keep any content one may experience in the realm of "PG-13" (Character names, appearances, and Bios; public chat in zones; AE missions, etc). We do our best to moderate anything that goes beyond that general "PG-13" rating. However, many reasonable people can (and do) disagree what that constitutes. We try to take a balanced approach. So yeah, your nephew might see a catgirl in a thong and a cleavage-enhancing Barbarian Bikini with a few strange words in their bio, but it's up to you (or his parents) to contextualize that in a way that you find appropriate; however, anything beyond that may be something you can come to us with. On that note, I assure you that the safety and privacy of all our users is our NUMBER ONE priority. Especially those under the age of 18. If your nephew were to play, you would have to set some ground rules for how to interact with people, since he may lack this knowledge himself. Things like not revealing his real name or specific age, not talking to people with specific tags in their Bios, etc. Don't make him afraid to team with others to enjoy missions, but do let him know how to either assert or extract himself if, say, team chat starts getting inappropriate. As for dealing with the possibility of him dealing with ERP, he simply needs to inform anyone trying to start with him that he's not interested (or underage if he really wants to spook them); Either way, once he tells another user to leave him alone, it's written very clearly in our rules that they must leave him alone. That goes double if he reveals he's a minor. Any contact after that short of a brief apology? Let us know, and we'll deal with it. This assumes, of course, that he's not actively seeking it out. In which case, we'd ban his account. Our general policy is no direct links to the content; interpret that how you wish. Though I'll add that you should make sure that the "pagenamehere" also adheres to our code of conduct (ie, isn't explicitly sexual or graphic. I'd make up some examples, but, well, then I'd be breaking the CoC!). If this isn't possible, you may need to get creative.
  3. That's the sticky part. The guidelines are there, and we (the GM team) need to be free to engage discretion when enforcing them. If we list bullet point by bullet point what is and isnt't allowed, we'll just end up alienating otherwise innocent players, while purposefully toxic ones will try to rules-lawyer their way into being allowed to straddle the line. And no one wants that.
  4. As a follow up to the above: Having an [ERP] tag in a bio is not actionable. A bio stating in explicit detail what kinds of sexual situations they like to engage in would probably get the axe. Anywhere in between would be up to the discretion of the GM answering the complaint.
  5. Okay, so, this topic deserves a more succinct response than I can type out right now, BUT... ERP is allowed AS LONG AS: It is done so privately All parties involve consent NO MINORS ARE INVOLVED. This means either a Player OR Character. Any and all accounts involved in underaged ERP will be banned without notice. Please report anyone either trying to ERP with or as a minor (under 18 years). Will probably follow up later with more detail if needed.
  6. Bug that's already been fixed internally (The recharge is not supposed to be affected by global recharge buffs enhancements, but it is at the moment - Thanks for the correction, @Captain Powerhouse)
  7. Closing thread as per OP's request 😃
  8. Hey all; Just a reminder to keep discussions/debates to a minimum, please!
  9. Funny thing about that. We prefer qualified, objective feedback based on testing and first-hand experience, not "armchair patch-note reading". Not that armchair patch-note reading is always a bad thing. If there was a patch note that said "All summoned Pets will now be a non-combat Baby New Year", that would be objectively awful (and okay, kinda hilarious), and I would hope that the developers would take the flood of angry/confused/objecting comments seriously before fully committing to that path. But in this case? You seem to be letting your competitive instinct guide your opinion on this (as you're apparently concerned that a super-speeder will beat you to a mission door?). That's all on you, unfortunately, and has no bearing on whether or not we'll ultimately go forward with these changes. Now, if you tested this out and found, say, that the super speed members of your team were able to complete a mission before you could even get to the door (assuming you started from the same spot and tried your best to reach the door as fast as possible, including use of temp and day job teleport powers), then THAT would be an issue we'd like to hear, have other people test, and THAT might (no promises) lead the devs to closing the speed gap a little. This is the difference between subjective and objective feedback, the later of which is much more highly valued.
  10. Hmm, you're right 😃 "It is what it is... for now. Hopefully one of the devs will see this and take it into consideration!" ...is what i SHOULD have said! I'll be more mindful of my wording in the future; thanks for keeping me on my toes!
  11. Impervious ...Okay maybe I'm biased.
  12. With that particular SF, speaking to Lord Recluse (not Barracuda) after the "final" mission is a mission itself, not the standard debrief (or rather, it's part of the mission). If people bail before the team lead can talk to Recluse, they're technically leaving before the SF is complete. It is a little out of sorts with how most TFs go, but it is what it is.
  13. We're not giving every character a way to have 100% mez protection all the time. Also, closing this, since people can't help but argue.
  14. Hey all, just hid a bunch of posts. First warning: keep it cool. If you feel yourself getting heated over someone BEING WRONG ON THE INTERNET (ie, not agreeing with your opinion), just walk away from the keyboard for like 10 minutes.
  15. I too would prefer to not become 2nd best!
  16. I've just removed several pages worth of off-topic replies (and I may have over-zealously snagged one or two relevant posts; if so, I deeply apologize). This is NOT a discussion thread. It is a feedback thread. Play the beta, then post your experience and opinions based on that playing and testing. It is OKAY if other people don't like some of these changes and choose to air that opinion, or if they enjoy something that you do not. If you wish to counter saying why you like/don't like a certain change being put forward, that's okay, too, but the moment it starts turning into a conversation, stop and let it be. If you wish to promote a discussion about other parts of the game elsewhere on the forums, that's fine. But please keep it out off the feedback threads. Thank you.
  17. Hi @IronDan You've already been given several of the standard suggestions: Verify, restart PC, restart router, play with the internals... But so far, nothing seems to be working for you. So, that's where I come in. Here's what I'd like you to try: Hit the Windows/Start button, and in the little dialog box, type "Dxdiag" and hit enter. This will bring up a self-test utility. Run it, and assuming it doesn't give you any obvious errors or anything, find the dxdiag.txt file that it creates. PM me that text file, and I'll hand it over to our tech guys to take a look at. Do NOT post it publicly in this thread, as it may have personally identifying information. You have my complete assurance that any such data is confidential and secure with the HC staff. Please note that it might take a little while to get back to you on this, as the dev team is all-hands-on-deck getting the next big update ready.
  18. Just hid nearly an entire PAGE of back-and-forth banter. While some of it may have been constructive, it was in the greater context of an argument. This feedback thread is for just that: Feedback. People are entitled to their opinions... HOWEVER, such opinions will hold more weight if they are quantified by play experience, and not just reading the patch notes or saying you don't use a certain power anyway. There's also no need to defend the proposed changes to someone doesn't like them. Please stay on topic; thank you.
  19. They're story focused, and as such, only one person will get the full experience... however, some of the combat situations can require either a few teamamtes or a well-built character.
  20. Depending on which version of Windows you're on, simply hitting your Windows key/Start menu and typing "Windows update" should bring up the windows update interface. You can also google Visual C Runtime and try re downloading/reinstalling (preferably form Microsoft's website, not some 3rd party download hub).
  21. I'll close this for you since no further help is required; Glad you were able to get your situation sorted out!
  22. Hid some not-nice posts made AFTER Lines' warning. That's Strike 2. Cut the hostility.
  23. The custom foes in MA are limited to their own versions of Player Powersets. It sounds like Rookery encountered custom critters who were Sonic Attack/Time Manipulation characters who were dressed up like Malta. So it's not quite free-form power selection, but it's not as limiting as it may seem at first glance. For instance, you can give critters two attack sets, Or a MM Pets/Armor combo. Or a Control/armor combo. You can't do something like debuff/armor, though.
  24. Yes, it's just a name change. Nothing else gets touched 😃
