What builds/power sets are able to tank/solo +4x8?
SomeGuy replied to foosbabaganoosh's topic in Scrapper
This isn't surprising, since if someone/thing is running away it isn't HITTING you (you also can't hit it). x/stn doesn't have a taunt aura, so it's aggro management is caca, but it's a darn good set for staying alive. -

This question a troll? If not, yes. They can. Especially a WM/SD scrapper can. -
Personally, I don't. It's only consistently noticeable when timed, and even then, I've never noticed by much. But for someone like me, it's enough to get frustrated at the difference when timed. Outside of pylon runs, especially solo, odds are you won't notice. Reactive DOES have the advantage that it will ignore total HP and you will still get it's full benefit. With Degen you can not, since it removes a set amount on very high HP targets, which ends up being a wash (thing Reichsman).

If Lion-O, definitely Broadsword to me.

EM is actually pretty good with end IMO. This combo will be similar to end management like a rad/rad scrapper. I'd definitely toggle OG/CoF as need and only individually though.

Honestly, DB/Stone with hybrid active can definitely get similar times. DB can be a streaky c*nt if you get to many SS misses. *Yea, it does. DB on a defense, or hybrid set like stone, works really well build wise (to me) with this.

MA/BIO 1:13 Degen, Ring of Fire, Melt Armor Hyrbid off, this is an average of at least 5 runs (this was 7 or 8...I was honestly wondering if this was a fluke). Chain: EC - CAK - SK- RoF Build:

I actually run BA/Rad with similar slotting in attacks. I slapped this together when FM and BA got their changes and couldn't decide what to do. Ended up doing FM/SD and BA/RAD.

Not gonna lie, this made me totally re-evaluate my DB/ENA build. I'm averaging the same time as before, but including Melt Armor in the build makes me feel like I'm adding some real good utility to a team besides just raw personal DPS. Thanks @Ston. And I'm sure you noticed how freaking frustrating miss streaks with Sweeping Strike are. Build I'm going to (the one I tried on Brainstorm was getting low 1:30s for an average):

Staff on stalkers is still really bad. Electric Melee will do better ST DPS AND really good AOE on the stalker version of it.

I think RoF has been a less talked about VERY good alternative for chasing DPS. Personally, I just really really like the snipe and combination of Shadow Meld (or Ball Lightning). Melt Armor is SEVERELY underrated also. Also, I was getting 1:30 something times and going "....wtf?" then noticed I didn't have Offensive Adaptation on for some reason. Time went under a minute with Hybrid on right after that. 😛

Ok...Dm is Dark Armor? Umm, that's a good pairing. Endurance heavy (anything with dark armor is) but it's a good pairing. Highly recommend getting recovery serums from the P2W vendor.

I can definitely vouch for BS being very viable to 50. This is my current BS/SD scrapper's build. I get very good results ST or AOE with this (same as my WM/SD actually...and for those that don't know me, yes I know wtf I'm doing), and honestly, I only went Shields because of the aesthetic. Shields doesn't add a ton of reliable AOE. Fun AOE when it's off cooldown for darn sure, but not reliable. Since you are looking more at concept, @Sanguinesun does make some good points, but dismissing BS entirely for utility definitely doesn't need to be considered. No, BS isn't the best performer, but it looks cool, feels chonky, and does good damage and debuffs. But you can get a lot of utility with BS and still match your concept. Katana IS a better set performance wise, but it for sure feels different enough from BS. What is DM in this question? I only know of DM as Dark Melee and that set is definitely lagging... If someone tells you that you're wasting your time with BS they are wrong. *the dude that created that character is named MoorCOCK? That's amazing.

Nothing is going to be as easy as it was on pre-changes TW. IMO, that's a good thing. But if it helps. the current version of TW/BIO could definitely do that with no issues.

This is exactly why I left...everlasting? Also, I've noticed that tankers are more prone to be this type. There was some jackass type like this with a few thousand vet levels on the server I was on. This game ain't hard. I build min/max. I don't expect the people on my team to be the same way. I only care if people have fun. IDGAF how they play as long as they don't yuck in my yum. But I gotta say, there are already a bunch of things in the game to indicate what the OP is wanting. They've been there before shutdown. Hell, the oroboros badges stand out as a much bigger PITA then the Mo*insert tf/trial here* badges.

I've had really good results with this build: Also, Eagle's Claw gives you a buff that increases your chance to crit for 2s with martial art's attacks. So if you aren't taking a snipe, I'd seriously think about taking EC. I have the CS proc in EC, so when it goes off I have almost an 88% chance to crit with Storm Kick and Crippling Axe Kick right after that. I'm not sure what your chain would be without a snipe, but for me personally it was: EC-SC-CAK-Snipe For AOE you can pop buildup, Eagle's Claws, then Dragon's Tail.

Tankers are zero risk. Tanker ELA/TW 3:21 (Average, hybrid off, no lore) Just resistance capped to all the things, massive pool of hp, and stupidly high defense to all. And that's without Incarnating. And it's stuff like this that I ❤️ Electric Armor: Park the character in Cim and it get's another 3% resistance to all and another 20% recharge/speed debuff reisistance. If it get's the Time Lord buff that's another 10% recharge. Build:

What's the hardest AT combination to play solo?
SomeGuy replied to FFFF's topic in General Discussion
Before CoV I knew a guy that solo-ed a Mind/Rad controller to 50. I remember watching him lock down a mob, run in, and use boxing and brawl. -
Not gonna lie, I read your post with the context that it applied to end-game builds. In the context of leveling up? It's spot on. In my defense, the graph you shared threw my pea brain that direction. Yeah...that's my excuse. 😄 But leveling up? The Momentum mechanic is really straight forward. @Zect is right. Don't be discouraged by it. If anything, it adds a layer to things if you want them to.

Wow. You literally wrote that. For anyone else reading, TW is *NOT* an easy set to get the most out of. Not at all. The only set which is a bigger PITA to figure out how to best get performance out of is Kinetic Melee. ***I wrote this thinking it was referencing end-game builds.***
-
I'm one of those that does those sorts of performance builds and I will always say pre-nerf TW was way to much. It didn't even make you want to play other melee sets cause of how absurd it was. Honestly, because of how nuts it was motivated me start doing straight x/bio comparisons with all the melee sets. Honestly, I don't even really think it was a nerf. It was a balancing. I will readily admit I thought it was to much at first, but @Ratch_ figured out how to optimize the chain. Bio isn't overpowered. It's a glass cannon. It's the best at what it does best, but it's still squishy as hell when played to it's strengths.
-
None of the melee sets are overpowered. Battle Axe got a really great makeover but it is definitely not overpowered.
