Sai always coming through with the great advice! Darkir has also pointed out a cool synergy with Sav/Bio Brutes: theyโre DOT monsters where the damage from Savage and toxic damage from Bioโs offensive stance ramps up with fury.
-
Perfect, glad itโs a simple answer ๐ thanks Haijinx.
-
Savage/Bio and Kat/Rad were both combos I was looking at on a Brute myself. Have any experience with either of those combos? Also, Iโm always kind of confused as to what the โexhaustedโ mechanic is in Savage Melee... what debuff does that apply to you?
-
Cool combo man! This makes a lot of sense. Might try one of my own sometime =P Another pairing I like on a Brute is the classic CEBR: Claws/Electric Brute. It just seems to peak in all the right places and is an absolute blender.
-
I didn't factor in the -ToHit for Rad Armor, definitely a thing to consider.
-
This is amazing, thanks so much for the write up Linea! My top 3 tanks currently are an SD/Elec, Invuln/EM and Dark/Staff. I was thinking of making a "Superman" type hero to give some of these tests a run, and was stuck between Invuln and Rad. It seems like Invuln is the, as you put it, the "more comfy" way to go. Not to say Rad CAN'T do it as well, it would just be an easier time for the Invuln. +1 to EA on Tankers though! Love it on my Stalker. I wonder how they'd adjust it for Tankers.

Yeah I'm noticing that seems to be the case. Ice and Dark at least have some rarer damage types. They also seem to be the top tier choices for PvP, but I don't PvP so it's kind of a moot point. I guess I could rest on the fact that if I ever DID do an arena match or something, I'd have a setup that was semi-optimal for it ๐

This is extremely helpful!!!! Thanks so much Erratic for writing this up, it went over some synergies that I wasn't even thinking off. Also, the color scheme for your powers on your Fire/Dark is AWESOME. Some others have mentioned Dark/Energy... Would you throw that combo in there with the others you mentioned?
-
These are amazing, thanks Sai! Iโll tell you what, those are some impressive resists you are able to get out of that second shield/dm build. Crazy! I also think youโre right about that Inv/DM... unkillable. Especially when you start factoring in the -tohit.
-
Nice man, thanks! Iโm looking at Dark/EM, Fire/Fire and Fire/EM now. Is there one youโd say was best for overall content, one for fighting AVโs, things like that?
-
Haha well this does sound amazing ๐ Dark does seem to really cover Invulns weaknesses. If you ever find that build, Iโd like to see it =P I also just looked up Critical Role, and it seems awesome!
-
Well this was phenomenal, ty Shinobi! I have seen you do some posts before and you seem well informed! Are there any other combos youโd suggest? I WAS looking at DP/Ninja for the cool factor, not noticed neither set had a build up or aim ability. Fire and Ice seem like top performers as well

Hi all! Looking to roll my first blaster... ever. A friend recommend Dark/Fire to me as a combo, saying itโs pretty survivable (for a Blaster) and can function well at range or up close. However, I canโt really find too many sample builds on the forums! Does anyone have experience with this build! Iโm also very open to other potential combos/power set pairings. If anyone has any advice for a newbie blaster, please blast away =P

This actually sounds like a pretty spicy idea haha
-
True. I have a Dark Melee/Shield Scrapper that I adore. I could see DM working with either Rad or Invuln. Just theory crafting, it seems like Invuln/DM could be the tankiest thing in the game outside of Granite haha. I'm sure Rad/DM would as well. Idk if the multiple heals would be overkill though.
-
Invuln/Rad Melee seem like a cool combo. Rad gives Invuln a damage aura as well as a heal, which is cool. Do you find Invuln to be the best primary across most of these challenges? I know a ton can work, just seeing which one you find being the best jack of all trades for all of them! Also, this info/feedback from your challenge is SUPER informative and helpful, so thanks for doing it.
-
Good to know! Yeah, I actually HAVE an Invuln/EM in the higher levels who I could move around to be more of a Superman type. Look wise (for powers), it is probably the most accurate.
-
Yeah, it seems to have a lot going on, doesnโt it? Haha ๐ very true though, great mechanics
-
Yeah, looks like if you went Fire you could just totally skip sweeping strike. Def pick up if Invuln or something though
-
Well, that sounds like the most optimal way to deal with that ๐ or you can just go Fire Armor like you said and use burn to fill the gap.
-
THIS I feel is always going to be the giant dilemma when playing StJ. Spending the points on Spinning Strike might leave you up the creek without a paddle for CU. I won't if using CU as a Proc Bomb would negate this a bit?
-
My man! haha so you know ๐ yeah, much more of a brawler. Wish they put into practice all the hand to hand training supes has actually had. StJ COULD make sense if they did that. However, Crushing Uppercut definitely has a UNITED STATES OF SMASH feel to it :p. Honestly, any of the main power sets could work as a One For All successor. Just a new quirk ๐ I'm excited to see how your Fire/StJ stacks up to MA. Any early feelings on it?
-
Man, I FEEL ya on the Rad Melee lengthy animations. I was thinking of trying to give it a fair shake, since I've only used it on my Rad/Fire farmer, and my rotation basically only uses 3 attacks + Burn. I don't even have Rad Siphon on that toon. EM, I didn't know if the health cost on some moves would HURT it on invuln. But it seems that may be negligible. The animations are probably the most "Superman" after super strength. Stj is interesting. It does seem FA would be great with Burn really filling the attack chain. I do team mostly, so it might not impact me too much. I could always just grab both AOE's (Sweeping Cross and Spinning Strike) since they probably have more value on a Tanker. I have neither on my StJ scrapper. By chance, have you ever seen the anime My Hero Academia? Their "Superman" type hero in it is called All Might, and he would definitely be Invuln/Street Justice ๐
-
Thanks Sov. That makes sense about the DDR. I like the heals Rad brings, but not HAVING to heal I guess is even better ๐ It's cool you mention Rad Melee, since I was thinking of pairing that with Invuln for the heal it brings (when things line up). The other 2 I was thinking that could be "Superman" esque, other than SS, are Street Justice and Energy Melee. Energy Melee seems to have the OOMPH. Street Justice is just extremely cool ๐ +1 for the farting gas noises as well ๐
