That's true. It seems like if I want to be generally safer, I would go Dark Blast. If I want to do a surprising amount of damage, go Rad. I know Procs are all the rage these days 😂

Nice! I hear sonic matches well. I also hear it shines more the larger team you are on? Slotting -res into Rad Blast sounds nice, but seems like it could just be a poor man's Sonic Blast. But I guess you'd be getting the -Def and -Res.

There is also Sonic Blast. I hear it’s a good combo, but is more effective with larger teams. I’m not a HUGE fan of the animations, although it’s not so bad if you do the alt hand animations haha

Hi all! I usually team with 2 buddies, and none of us roll a Defender/support style hero 😂 I've decided I'd be the first. After reading over the primaries, I've settled on Radiation Emission. I feel it has a nice mix of supportive skills, as well as some powers that will help us take down tougher targets. I'm a little stuck on which primary to choose. Leaning towards either Radiation blast (Laser beams from my eyes? Cool irradiate animation? yes please) and Dark Blast (Soul Noir FTW). Obviously, I think both look amazing! Being that this is my first defender, I'd thought I'd check in with the heroes on here and see if anyone had any recommendations! Does either synergize better with Rad Emission? Are there any quirks between the combos I should be aware of? Sample builds? Thanks in advance all!

Haha very true 😂 on the flip side, sometimes you have a team that just LeRoy Jenkins it and you have to hold down the fort until they all come back 😂 My Invuln/EM can just stand there, as you say. My Dark Armor/Staff can as well, I just look like I’m breakdancing the whole time 😉

I just 50’d mine and slotted it out. Can attest that this combo is a beast on a Scrapper. Not much that can be thrown at you that you can’t handle. However, I stood on the shoulders of other people’s great builds. For this, I would summon the legends @Saikochoro and @Murcielago

I feel like Dark Aura could be in this category as well, IF we’re including incarnates. Cascading Defense Failure is it’s big problem, but if you cover that with Incarnates it is just an insane set. That being said, my point is kind of moot. As mentioned, by the time you get to full sets and incarnates, everyone is effectively immortal anyways.

Thanks Bill. So basically, Beta Decay doesn't do much to build fury, aside from from maybe making you a bit tankier since it has the -tohit and you'll build fury off of that either way.

Hi all! I have a QQ on Brute fury interaction. I'm looking to roll a Savage Melee Brute and thinking to pair it with either /Bio or /Rad. /Bio seems sweet since I know Fury will help increase SM's DOT, Offensive Stance's DOT and Genetic Contamination's DOT. That is a lot of DOT's, and seems to be a nice synergy. I had a question in regards to /Rad, however. Rad could be nice since it gives the free recharge and has a good heal. In regards to Beta Decay though, does it help increase Brute's Fury? I know it doesn't do damage, but it helps provide the -tohit and -def. If someone has experience with /Rad on their Brute and could let me know, that would be great! Both secondaries seem like they could fit in great with Savage Melee 😄

Awesome build man, ty! The Shield/Savage seems like it could be a good time with both Savage Leap and Shield Charge haha. I've run several Shield Defense heroes, so I may switch it up. What archetype did you run it on? Tanker?

I mean, it seems like It'd be a SWEET combo, now that you mention it haha. I'd probably run it on a Brute or Tanker (Savage just feels pretty "Brute" like, and the Tanker AOE's are probably pretty nice). Anyone else with insight on this cool combo?

Just 50’d an Invuln/EM after @Infinitum’s suggestion and can confirm: it is Uber powerful. Some other suggestions: Dark Melee/Shield Scrapper. These 2 sets seem made for each other. Shield provides some AOE that DM sorely lacks, and DM provides a heal that Shield doesn’t have. With AAO fully saturated + Soul Drain, you hit like a truck. Dark Armor/Staff Tanker. Staff goes a long way in helping solve DA’s endurance issues, as well as helping provide some +def. Dark Armor also feels like one of the most “robust” resist sets out there. It takes some investment, but it’s worth it. Plus, these 2 combined just look cool as heck.

HIGHLY interested if you ever decide to share this build Bubba. The fact that it is beating your scrapper pylon times is hilarious.

Staff/Dark is a ton of fun. Love the combo on my tanker. I didn’t even think of Psionic Melee though! That could be a cool pairing.
