Noble sentiments and I appreciate your positive post. The title made me skip it initially. -
Why I want the ability to ignore entire topics
mistagoat replied to srmalloy's topic in General Discussion
Normally I'd agree with "just scroll past it" but this is almost half of the first page now and there are more on the second page too. You scroll past one right into another one. It's diminished the usability of the site. By all means, let ppl make the threads they want to make and I certainly mean no offence to those posters but a way to hide all that clutter would be greatly appreciated. It won't drive me away from the site either way but it would be a nice QoL upgrade. -
Absolutely agree with this 1000000%! I think back on live it was among the first vet rewards and the devs were scared to make it too fast as it could be used to escape a bad situation (my guess, not documented). Seems absurd that TT activates so quickly but for mission tp you have to power up for a week like you're goin Super Saiyan! I agree Group Teleport has little to no value and a replacement power would be great but I don't expect that will ever happen. The cottage rule would require that it still be a power that teleports a group and that just doesn't have much inherent value in this game. 10 Merits seems reasonable for Seeds but it wouldn't be very high on my priority list. Sure, more costume parts are always welcome.

Focused Feedback: Plant Control
mistagoat replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Did some testing at +1x8 council on my 50 plant/storm troller, it doesn't have any plant powers proc'd out (beyond full sets). Seeds feels good now. Flytrap feels better than on live, though it's still not a very good pet. I like the Spirit Tree now, I'll get much more use out of it now compared to live. I don't have Spores in my build so I still need to test that. Creepers is a bit underwhelming, you just don't get the amount of tentacles as on live. Regardless of the damage values it feels diminished. I don't like Vines at all and greatly prefer the live version. It's not reliable CC anymore. You can toss it onto the pile of other CC you have going but it feels inconsequential now. I want my AOE hold to instantly shut down a spawn when things go south and this aint that. Overall, the set feels okay, vastly improved over the first build (didn't get around to testing second build). I definitely kill stuff faster on live but not by a large margin. I still want to test how it plays at lowers levels since that is where I spend the vast majority of my playtime. -
There isn't one and I think there should be, seems like an oversight.

Focused Feedback: Powerset - Plant Control
mistagoat replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'll occasionally take my Ice/Rad troller out to fight solo at 0x8. She is incredibly safe to play but probably has the worst offense of all my toons. She uses her safety to, very, very slowly, chip away at spawns. This change will probably hurt her a great deal. I'm not saying that means the sky is falling, she's a gimmick build that I enjoy because it's fun to neuter enemy offence but it's a case like the one you describe. -
I don't think it's controversial to say that the purple caves are terrible. I'd love for them to get an update but I'm not going to hold my breath. The dev team seems to be more likely to create new content/maps rather than adjusting the old content. I've been getting stuck on those rocks for nearly 20 years, it's ALMOST comforting at this point! 😆 That pancake room especially has to be in the top 5 worst maps/rooms in the game!

I've never tried Hasten... should I start?
mistagoat replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
Hasten is easily my most selected power, followed by Combat Jumping. Recharge is a very powerful buff! -
Everything the respondents have said is accurate and helpful however, I think OP has a good point here. There is nothing in game (afaik) that really explains how these work or what your actual chances are to get them to go off or that slotting recharge into the power may be detrimental to the proc rate or that slotting them into certain types of powers is not very effective. All that info exists but it's all contained in outside sources. If one were not a forum/discord savvy player, the whole system can be a bit of a mystery. Adding all that info to the card would be rather cumbersome but maybe it could be added as a tutorial in the university or something similar.

Focused Feedback: Powerset - Plant Control
mistagoat replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yeah, not useless but imo, nerfed into pointless territory. Pre-massive-nerf I could confuse the whole mob, post-massive-nerf I can confuse half the mob and get alpha'd to death by the other half. Seeds was the opener, the Flashfire/Stalagmites of the set, the thing that negates the majority of the alpha so you can do other things. It's efficacy is in the toilet now. I get that it needed some adjustment but this is massively overstepping. Taking from top tier to bottom tier feels punitive. RIP Plant... -
Focused Feedback: Powerset - Plant Control

Targets reduced to 10 means it's useless against x8 mobs without the CC proc to extend its functionality. This means it's shit for anyone under level 50. -

This burnt me back when I started on HC! I wasted so much time and inf crafting all that crap to get the crafting station on my main crafter. Would have been so much cheaper and easier to just buy the crafting station for 10 million! I do get some use out of the memorization but only for the lvl 35 and lvl 50 recipes, the rest was a complete waste...

Healing Set: The Power Paradox
mistagoat replied to Canadian Anvil's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think you may have misunderstood my point. It's specifically the 2pc recharge set bonus that is too strong. A 2pc recharge set bonus is only available in a couple ATO sets, I don't expect that to change. A 2pc Gladiators Javelin only offers a 2.5% recovery bonus, that's a nice bonus but not nearly as powerful or game changing as a 2pc 5% recharge bonus that one could stack 5 times to get 25% recharge for the low investment of 5 slots. Swapping the 2pc bonus and the 5pc bonus puts it in line with other sets. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to build with that, I just don't think the Devs would let that stand. Otherwise, aside for the low accuracy, I'm for the set. -
I'm not really familiar with Beam but I have 3 SR Sentinels. SR is pretty easy to level but choosing when to select your powers can be tough. It's always a balance between beefing up damage vs beefing up survivability. I also find Sentinel builds to be among the tightest when it comes to slotting. This Electric/SR has become my favorite Sent and it has Hover + Mystic Flight (I love the utility of Translocation, swap for Fly if you like). Build attached, it's a leveling build so no purps or plussed out enhancers. You just have to swap out Elec for Beam and adjust. If you take Hover you could probably skip Combat Jumping. I do love me some CJ but it's a bit redundant at that point. Sentinel (Electrical Blast - Super Reflexes - Fire Mastery) pre50 v1.3a Dawnstar.mbd

Healing Set: The Power Paradox
mistagoat replied to Canadian Anvil's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The 2pc set bonus is too strong, you'd just have everyone using 2 pcs of the set x5 for the low cost recharge bonuses. Move that to the 4 or 5 pc bonus and it would be more in line with existing set/bonuses. Maybe swap it with the end discount. Currently only a couple ATO sets get a 2pc recharge bonus. -
I've been on HC since Feb 2021 and the pop feels pretty much same now as it was then. I can fill teams quickly and I can easily join a team if I don't feel like leading. (I'm on Excel 95% of the time) There was a spike for a couple months when HC got the NC Soft nod, other than that it feels like business as usual. I'm old now so I can't stay up till the wee hours of the morning like I did back on live so I can only speak to EST 7am-ish to 11pm-ish.

I gave this a shot over the weekend, I only had 62 badges at the 30 min mark.... I think I leaned to heavily on exploration badges. I'll have to revise my strategy.

Here is my leveling build from a couple months ago. Very fun toon to run up! Cupids Crush baby! I've found that putting the whole set in an AoE like ball lightning offers great utility and set bonuses at an early level. Locking costume/color selections at the Outfit editor
mistagoat replied to Paradox Fate's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I like it but I'd spin it a little differently. Instead of locking anything which would require knowing under which subheading each element that you like resides (not always intuitive) and then clicking a lock button, I'd preferers if each subheading got it's own random button. I picture it working like this: You hit the main all-encompassing random button a few times, this rolls random on every subheading (as it does now) until you find something you half like but it has a neon green wolf head (for example). Then you go to the "head" subheading and click random a few times, this rolls random on all the "head" subheadings (face, hair, ears, ect). Now you have a half decent head but it has exposed brain for hair and you don't want exposed brain for hair. Then you go to the "hair" subheading and hit random a few times until you find a fresh cut you like. "Hair" has no other subheadings so it would only roll random on that 1 element. This would allow for more granular control over the random selections. Start with big random and work down to small random until you're happy with the results. -
Dood! You're missin out on all that patrol xp! True, it's not the same as direct xp but it essentially doubles (not sure on the math there, someone will correct me) you're xp gain until it runs out. Especially impactful at the low levels where getting 1 full zone caps or nearly caps your patrol. In my experience it makes a huge difference and I try to grab a couple badges before most mission for that little boost. They don't give you xp anymore but they still give you xp if ya know what I mean.

I know it was a thing back on live for folks looking for those pricey low level recipes like Miracles or Freebird +stealth (remember when those were highly sought after and stupid expensive?) but I don't know of anyone that still does that anymore. I certainly don't see it advertised in game or even discussed/mentioned here on the forums. It's probably just more efficient to farm at 50 and buy the low level enhancers/recipes off the AH.

Nice work! I'm gonna have to give this a shot this weekend, fun idea! Impressive build but looks a bit pricey... Blarfing is my new favorite word!
