  1. Thank you kind sir. That looks quite excellent. I have been playing since I1 (stopped in 2007) so I'm not new to positioning or melee etc. I just have never really embraced the Blaster until recently seeing some damn tough examples. So I think I'll give it a go....
  2. Yes you do sir. It’s mostly yours with some Myshkin thrown in for the Ice ideas.
  3. Ok so going off of what I could find and sort of meshing different builds let me know if this is viable? 4. I am used to playing in the middle of everything with my controllers and I have a 53 Brute as well.
  5. Leaning towards Ice/Elec. Do these work well together?
  6. Well I created the name when I first made my forum account. It was based on my most successful toon back on live which was a Ice/Storm troller. When I first started on Homecoming I initially created several of my old favorites that I played a lot. Fast forward to now....I have since deleted all of my "homage" characters because they just weren't fun for some reason. Now my favorites are completely different combos...and I'm stuck with Ice_Warden even though I have no Ice characters 😉
  7. I like the Ice/Atom and Water/Electric ideas. What are the typical skippable powers? I assume Fighting pool. But is Leadership necessary? Any builds or at the least slotting sets people typically use for the powers? Money is not really an issue.
  8. What pairs well with Dark/?
  9. So I have never been a blaster guy. Back in the day those were the guys that ran in, tried to blow everything up, fail to do so, and die from the return attacks. I'm a controller guy. I like safety, control and toughness. Well lately I've played a few mishes with some very well built blasters who manage to blow nearly everything up and survive the return fire pretty damn well. I am intrigued... With set bonuses and incarnates blasters have become a lot tougher and I think I'm ready to give it a go. Thinking of trying Dark/, Ice/ or Water/. What are some good secondary sets for these? I don't mind being in the middle of the action since that's how I play my controllers. Thanks for any advice!
  10. I never built for that bug so I’m good 🙂
  11. Funny you should ask...I have since switched to soul and here it is... 12. The reason for this is that Illusion isn't really a controller at all. It's a mini mastermind. I primarily play controllers because I like to "control" the battlefield. Every time I play my Illusion I just can't get into it due to the lack of actual control. He's built out with sets and everything and is a AV beast but in general play it's just a mastermind with a couple of other tricks.
  13. /Cold is honestly more of a single target killer. Probably the top combo for AV killing. But Illusion in general is fairly low in terms of actual crowd control.
  14. Yeah I'm not doing the sets for their OP amazingness. I'm doing it because I haven't yet played them. I had a Thermal defender already so I've done that one 😉
  15. Here is my Fire/Dark/Soul build for comparison. I initially had the Psy epic but wasn't very impressed with World of Confusion or Psychic Tornado. The radius is only 8ft so it doesn't hit that many guys. I switched to Soul and the PBAOE Soul Drain is 15ft, does good damage AND increases my Dmg and Accuracy. Dark Obliteration is like a Fireball (targeted aoe) but debuffs tohit as well. I solo farm +3/+8 s/l with this guy. I can do +4/+8 solo but it gets pretty hairy. I honestly haven't tried fire farms with him because this build is capped s/l resistance and nearly capped defense with numbers from 37%-44%. Pre Cast Fade, Hot Feet.... I usually lead with Flashfire. Then lock them in place with Fire Cages. Cast Bonfire then run into the middle. Cast Howling Twilight, Soul Absorption, Soul Drain, Dark Obliteration. Then basically just keep Fade and Soul Absorption going while cycling all the above. Bring purples...if you lag a few seconds with Fade or Soul Absorption then your world will begin to crumble. Fire isn't the safest primary set and is propped up by Dark Affinity. It works pretty well though. 16. Damage is never my priority. I like total control 😉
  17. So these are two sets I haven't tried yet (but wanted to) and I thought I'd put them together and give it a go. Having never played either can you guys give me some set slotting advice? Or any build suggestions? Thanks!
  18. Haha...that's funny. Any troller that throws around immobs first is looking for a dirt nap 😉
  19. It’s not that we are reliant on a tank for survival....but it’s cute that you think we all crumple to the ground when you aren’t around. A team of controllers could melt mobs faster than a team of tankers. But I digress. It’s just bad form to plow through mobs trying to reach the “end” first. You drag half the mobs for a little ways until they lose interest and saunter slowly back to their original location. It just makes it take longer to clear maps. And some of us actually feel a responsibility to help others. So when you run off into the map and get into trouble we feel like we should follow and help. Anyway...yes people can play how they like. But if they want to be reinvited to our mob shredding XP, Influence, thread, merit making machine then they should probably be a team player who works for the team. Solo however the hell you want. But team for the greater good. If you are a team leader tank who likes to protect his team and someone is blowing mobs all over the map making it impossible to do to your job on important missions then it’s unlikely you are applauding him saying “you do you bro!”. You are making a mental note not to invite him back. In the end, like minded players gravitate towards each other. So eventually we find players we respect and play with. And we avoid those we don’t. I can definitely see why some people might spend 20mins in the LFG tab spamming the chat and not finding any luck. If you have a reputation then it follows you...good or bad.
  20. I have currently been playing Plant/Dark. He's up to mid 40's right now. Pretty damn fun I must say. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how Creepers work 😉 Great power and damage...but I cast it on a group (you target the ground under a mob), we take a minute to finish it off, move to the next group and the creepers will pop up out of nowhere sometimes on the new mob. Which is great...but I have no idea why 😉 My main is Dk/Dk so I can vouch for both 😉
  21. OMG those things are annoying 🙂
  22. I will say that with the prevalence of Stormies and Timers out there I will quit a team earlier than usual depending on their power color choices because the effects of those two sets can be really irritating on tight maps. I was on a team with a storm and time and both had power colors set to white. We were doing oranbega maps and I could not see a damn thing. I gave some excuse a couple of missions in and joined another team. White tornadoes, lightning storms, hurricanes and then the white time effects were giving me a headache. Sometimes people have those floating ball lightning essences that are always in the way. If I can't see the field of battle then it drives me insane.
  23. It’s not stellar dmg like fire but when you floor the mobs tohit it’s the ultimate safe zone. There are lots of proc opportunities if you want to pump out more damage. But I like having those set bonuses because I play in teams most of the time. With Dk/Dk you get 3 pretty nice pets. But once you can slot up a little bit your fearsome lasts a minute and hod/living shadows lasts like 45 secs. So you don’t need to jump around as much. Apply Fade first then FS, LS, HoD...then jump in with Tar Patch, Darkest Night on the biggest boss, howling twilight (major stun), Soul Absorption....at this point you can sit and go afk while you make a coffee. And this is without casting the pets. There was a guy on this forum who was interested in the build so I took him on a mission of mine +4/+8 (new Clockwork I think). After I did the above round of casts on the first big mob I just sat there typing back and forth to him for a good while telling about slotting etc etc. It is so satisfying 🙂
  24. The safest one I have is Dk/Dk. I would imagine with Dark/Storm I would open with Fearsome then Living Shadows. Run into the middle and pop Heart of Darkness and a Thunder Clap. With Storm I might then run in a quick mini-circle inside the mob with Hurricane with KB-KD so they fall on the floor and get -tohit debuff as well (never tried it with Dark so YMMV). Then back up and repeat. At that point I'd probably throw down a Shadow Field as well. Then beat the hell out of them with your other storm powers. I assume you would have Steamy Mist slotted for max D. My only other Dark primary toon besides my Dk/Dk is a Dk/Nature. And what he loses in safety he gains in just sheer overpowering heals and buffs. So with Storm I imagine it might not be quite as safe as Dk/Dk but it will do more damage. I made a Fire/Dk and it's the same problem. Not as safe as Dk/Dk but it definitely pumps out more damage. Enjoy!
  25. I took Intuition, Ion, Spectral, Carnival, Clarion and Control.
