Trying a Nature/Fire Def right now. Not sold on it right now at level 23. But we'll see. Never played Fire blast before...I do like it. But wondering where I can leverage more of that carnage. Fire/? Corr? I play mostly in teams. ?/Fire Defender?
-
Would you recommend Fire/Dk Corr or Dk/Fire Def?

Now that I've found the ultimate team player... what's the opposite?

I think he means that perma PA will take some of the challenge out of it therefore less fun. -
Dark/Dark/Soul - How do I add more dmg to my build?
Doc Ranger replied to SmokenBongs's topic in Controller
Almost every power in these sets can take at least a couple dmg procs. You will lose a few set bonuses here and there but the damage will go up for sure. Just click on each power in the sets in mids and take a look at all the options. Dk/Dk has an extremely high proc monster potential 🙂 -

Dark/Dark/Soul - How do I add more dmg to my build?
Doc Ranger replied to SmokenBongs's topic in Controller
This could be one of my oldwe builds. It looks familiar because it doesn’t use a ton of procs like many here do. I tend to build for defense and party assistance. I have a newer build I can post later. You can definitely ramp up the damage by including more procs and lose some set bonuses. Dark has many ways to amp up damage output via procs 🙂 I just don’t lean on procs personally. But there are some here who can squeeze a ton of extra damage using them. -
Watching this one...also in the Mids stages of creation of an Ice/Storm.

1) Slotting a KB>KD IO in there makes them all fall down instead of out. The problem is in big mobs it can eat your endurance bar in a few seconds. It doesn't really work on bosses. Use it wisely. But you will probably not use it much. 2) I don't usually take it but when used it can literally turn the tide of battle by making your teammates unhittable machines...as long as someone dies within range of you. 3) This depends on what you are building for. Certain builds can only certain IO sets. Some sets have Def bonuses in them others have Res bonuses. If you are trying to hit a certain goal in S/L Defense then you will need a Def shield. 4) The problem here is that either one draws aggro. So if you are attacking a mob then go FS and your big attack because if you go FS and then SP...you might be dead before you get off the big attack. If you are attacking a single hard target then go SP first. 5) I usually have Hasten on auto. Rune right before you jump into a hard situation with known mezzers. 6) You nailed it. Tactics. But most Kin builds can operate over the dmg cap in mobs so adding +Dmg clicky doesn't do any good when your build is click heavy already. 7) Yes. I slot stealth IO in sprint on every toon. If you add SS then you are good for "most" content...but you will end up dead trying to blaze by many enemies 😉 8- Rune as mentioned before is good. Clarion Incarnate is good in the late game. The best you can do otherwise is Mez Resistance...which can be found in set bonuses and just limit the amount of time you are mezzed. Darkir will probably clarify any misinformation I may have provided 😉

Slight thread jack... Thinking of a few possibilities...which would be most effective in teams? Ice/Kin Corr Ice/Storm Corr or the reverse Defender versions. Branching out a bit lately from my Controller roots. I like my Ice/Atom Blaster a ton and my Rad/Kin Corruptor is a blast as well. Haven't really had a dive into Storm yet as I dislike teaming with people who overuse Hurricane or pop off Lightning Storm in caves every chance they get. But I do recognize it is quite good. I do not build proc heavy so keep that in mind. Thanks!
-
"Rad will simply offer a slightly stronger ability to neuter mobs." I would put my Plant/Dark vs any Plant/Rad in mob neutering capabilities, speed and destruction. In most teams by the time Rad is all setup the team has moved on to the next mob.
-
Yeah I play in the middle of everything. No matter how aggressive I tried to play my Elec/Dark (similar play to a /Time) nothing really got done. Yes the mobs were locked but you absolutely need help to take out the mobs you control. Soloing is just awful if you are forced into it one. I just dismantled my 50 Elec/Dark to find a new defender.
-
I would suggest something like Plant/Dark when you tire of Elec/Time. The End drain aspect of the game doesn’t really work very well. Just when you think all the enemies have no endurance they continue to fire off attacks. Lots of fun choices though.
-
Trying to decide which AT to put these sets together for. Team focused build but I like to do dmg as well. I have an Ice blaster so I know the set fairly well. But should I play a Corr version or Defender? Thanks!

I was going to suggest an Ice Blaster or Ice/Kin Corr. My Ice/Atom blaster is fantastic with the Aoe and it has solid single target as well. Ice/Elec will be very similar as the secondaries have great melee as well. Good choice 🙂
-
A well built Elec troller has a great deal of area lockdown. I would go with a blaster or a corr with aoe dmg capabilities. But with good single target dmg for hard targets. The end drain aspect of the game doesn’t work very well in practice since fully drained enemies always seem to be able to fire off attacks no matter what. Whatever you choose should have aoe damage though.

Elec / Dark -- Maxed Positions, How to Finish?
Doc Ranger replied to bigfashizzel's topic in Controller
I just now looked at your build for comparison... You are wasting a ton of slots and powers on things like 5 Slotting Boxing for no reason other than to get a Def bonus. I would suggest picking up Combat Jump for a decent global Defense and mobility. This combo plays best in the middle of everything and controlling all of it. So picking up single target attacks like Arcane bolt and slotting it is a waste. Just take a look at my build and see what you think. Maxing out ALL of your defense points doesn't really help your character if you aren't as effective. Especially in content where enemies bypass defense. My build has so much control and debuff that maxing those stats takes away from slotting other things. You want more recharge for extra sleep zones. I can have 4 sleep zones up at all times and perma fade and soul absorb. And this couple with being able to control ALL the mobs around your position gives you unlimited health and end. You really only need people to kill the mobs for you at this point. Your build seems to be spending a ton of slots and money on things that aren't really helping your effectiveness. It's more for set bonuses. I pick my powers first and then decide the sets I want to get to assist my build. Things I see in that vein: 6 Slotting Tesla Cage with Will? I already mentioned the Boxing thing. Gremlins die very easily. If you want the best recharge then slot with Expedient. 6 slotting Dark Servant with a hold set doesn't help his effectiveness at all. He doesn't cast a hold very often. I use Cloud Senses because all his attacks debuff. Food for thought.- 4 replies

Elec / Dark -- Maxed Positions, How to Finish?
Doc Ranger replied to bigfashizzel's topic in Controller
I will post my build here but I want to tell you to be ready for the most insane area control you have yet to experience...with the least amount of damage you have yet to experience. It's such a great/terrible combo that you will love/hate it. I took it to a farm map a few times just for grins...It's crazy how many mobs you can control by yourself....to absolutely zero effect whatsoever. So the moral of the story is to team with groups that need control...because you need someone to do the actual damage. Really fun...but not by yourself. If you team a lot I still recommend Dk/Dk.
-
Yeah my Plant/Dk is ridiculous.
-
Agree. If I have spare slots I will 6 slot it.
-
4 Cloud Sense. Pretty much always.
-
I don’t care one way or the other honestly. I don’t play certain sets because they annoy me and you don’t play sets because they annoy you. Play what you want. Don’t play the rest. Seems simple.
-
The first two are over a year ago and the last one is about Shadow Fall/Arctic Fog. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All the sets I mentioned bother me but not those that play them. Fade doesn’t bother me but it bothers you. We play what we like 🙂
-
I have same problem with Storm and Time graphics. And Earth’s way overdone stalagmite effects. And Gravity and Sonics sounds. No problem with Fade. I guess because it makes them translucent. Which does not annoy me at all. Aside from the glowing eyes, which most people end up doing in costume creation, Fade is actually its own minimal fx graphics option. Never heard anyone complain about this particular power before 🙂
