I haven't tried it yet...but the Mid's description says Minor Dmg, Foe Sleep. So dmg is built into the power apparently? I like that I'm boosting the team's damage, but it's not something I can physically see or measure during play. But with Time, I can see the effects and benefits immediately. One more thing...Is Soul Drain worth taking? I was definitely going to take Dark Embrace and Power Boost. I know what those do...but Soul Drain I have no idea. Glad to have you back Bopper...your help has been immeasurable in this little journey.

My problem is I have been classically trained in the school of Controlling π I like to be in the mix and I like to affect mobs. With Time being my primary, it lends itself to aoe effects as well. So I'm not really going for AV killer because I will never be trying to solo big bosses etc. I am a team player first and a solo player when absolutely necessary...like right now I'm doing this villain arc.

So I'm at 41 and currently trying to access the Villain Epic pool. But I must say I am WAY underwhelmed by Screech. For a 35 power it does almost no damage and the Disorient doesn't affect powerful opponents. I am really used to cones from my Dk/Dk troller so I am enjoying Howl and Shockwave (with some procs). I think I am going to swap out Screech with Siren's Song. At least I'll have another cone with dmg.

I use it for farming π But in normal content it works great with my play style which is sitting in the middle of everything.

Sounds like the Citadel TF I did last night on my Time/Sonic Defender. Most of the time mobs were dead before I even got there. Rarely got a chance to help out anyone other than myself with Farsight or Chronoshift. Tried to convince myself my Sonic blasts were allowing the team to do even more damage but it was a fantasy.

I typically lead with Flashfire. Then Fire Cages, Bonfire and Tar Patch. I use Darkest Night for the Bosses. Howling Twilight I will save if my teammates seem to die fairly often...otherwise I use it whenever it's up π

Pure offense works on MOST content. But when the feces hits the fan in the end game content it will make a huge difference slotting for defense. We were on an incarnate mission in DA to destroy MOT at +4/+8 one time and we had some guys that only just hit incarnate level. After a good 15mins of battle I was the only one who had not died at least once. Everyone else had been to the hospital and back at least twice. I would suggest to the OP when you finally get all the cash saved up to build it out and respec one way or the other. If you are on Excelsior I'd be happy to take you on a few missions to see the power of a fully operational death star π

This a very end game sets build. Many of these sets you canβt slot until 50. But itβs easy to buy lower level IOS until you hit 50.

6 slot it with Touch of the Nictus. Dark Servant I 4 slot with Cloud Senses. Shadowfall I 6 slot my troller with various DEF and RES IOs. It depends on what you have your other DEF and RES powers slotted to determine what you need. I personally have mine 4 slotted LotG, 1 Reactive scaling res, 1 Kismet accuracy. Fearsome stare is really a star of the set. Instant lockdown of a mob. I 6 slot this with one of the controller ATOs. But since you don't have access to that I would likely slot it with Cloud Senses and/or Glimpse of the Abyss for some extra fear duration and/or to hit debuff. Darkest Night 4 slot with Dark Watcher's Despair. Tar Patch 2 Recharge IOs.

I have a Fire/Dark and I donβt think there is any way in hell that it could solo AV/GM. Help teams? Yes. Solo? No.

After hating on the Time sounds and swirly animations for so long...I have to decided to take the plunge and actually make one. Having played one for a bit on a Grav Controller I am going to give it another go on a Defender and try it with another set I have never played...Sonic Blast. Any build floating around in the multiverse you guys might be willing to share so I can tinker with it?

Yes it absolutely works. And another thing, it has been noted that if you turn it off and back on again it runs new checks for procs. This will make it fire more often. I have it my Fire/Dark Controller. My only quibble with it is the bubble is fairly small.

Understood. I tried Time with a Grav/Time Troller until about 40 but just couldn't get past the damn animations and sound. It's a good combo but I just hate the swirlys and the sounds.

So I see a lot of people pooping on FF about how terrible it is. It's on the bottom of the list over in the controller area and here as well. And yet I am still intrigued. Is it any good in the current endgame? What are the positives it brings to the table in the year 2020?

I am watching this thread with interest. I have never played either set and am ready to try something other than controllers. I need something new to spark my interest! I see many touting the attributes of Sonic blast but....it seems like every sonic blast build leaves out at least 3 powers. The above build leaves out four of them. That seems strange for being such an awesome set. I was looking at Kin/Sonic but jeez...Kins are a dime a dozen nowadays.

Maybe if there was a higher difficulty option to have set bonuses turned off or Incarnates disabled etc? Some easy βin gameβ way for the team leader to go beyond +4/+8. If that isnβt feasible then maybe a setting to half your teams dmg output or double enemy damage/effects etc.
