What is the difference between soft and hard caps? I have a toon that I am planning to have Scorpion Shield on that gives 59% S/L Def. He also has 50% S/L Resist. Should I change Scorpion Shield to a Resist based shield? This would take my S/L Defense to 37% and put me over the S/L Resist cap to somewhere over 80%. Which would be more beneficial? -

I reworked it a bit. What do you guys think? I went for more Defense. Paragon Wiki says Defense Cap is +175% for Controllers at level 50. But I keep hearing it is 45%. Which is true and when did it change? I am planning to have Scorpion Shield on that gives 59% S/L Def. He also has 50% S/L Resist. Should I change Scorpion Shield to a Resist based shield? This is great info. This was my first Plant build I made a couple of months ago that I cobbled together and it works well...but since then I have not revisited it. I never even bought any of the purples in it. Running Trap of the Hunter in Roots and some other cost saving measures. I think I'll respec using your suggestions and see if it is more effective. I just got my alpha unlocked a few days ago. This build is something I play sparingly on the side...but maybe I should give it some attention.

I 2 slotted stamina and health and I never run out of end. Even in the 30s and up. It’s ridiculous. If I ever needed to steal a slot from somewhere I would take it from stamina. I will post my build later on when I get to my computer. -
So I am thinking of trying out Dark Armor. I currently have a Rad Melee/Bio Armor Brute that is pretty tough so I am familiar with how to protect a team through taunting, holding aggro etc. I am looking for a very survivable toon. Is DA one of the top choices? Is DM a good melee set to go with DA? I haven't tried either and haven't played a Tank since 2007 when I had the old Ice Patch/Burn combo. And how much more survivable is a Tank over a Brute using the same sets? Being able to do some damage from time to time is also fun 😉

Still very doubtful...my Dk/Dk is much safer. I just can't see Fire/Dk taking on a 54 AV. It only takes a couple of big hits and it's over.

Still no big deal. I didn’t build around power boosting fade nor did I care about -res on tar patch.

I mean what are the caps for Corr vs Def? How much more does a Def buff/Debuff and how much more damage can a Corr deal? Do they have the same Defense and Resist caps?

What are the buff and dmg numbers? I like buffing my teammates of course but running into a mob and hitting them with a ton of aoe's is also nice 😉

I eventually settled on Ice/Atom and she hit 50 last night. Very fun combo. She’s a keeper 🙂 -
Thinking I’ll give Kin/Rad a go then. I’ll start searching for builds for IO set slotting ideas. Unless someone here can provide some build ideas :)

I am going to bring this topic back to the top real quick. I also am ready to roll a Kin/? Defender for a team based build. I am more focused on AOE damage effects than single target. Also, would Kin be better on a Controller?
