If I am on a team and they invite you I will be happier if you are Dark/Dark rather than Dark/Storm. Dark/Dark makes the whole team invincible. I have played both and my main is still a Dk/Dk. I deleted the Dk/Storm a long time ago.
-
I just stripped a Dark/Time at 45 I was leveling. Not nearly as powerful (to me) as Dark/Dark. Still to this day my favorite toon is my Dark/Dark.
-
Hmmm. All I know is I 5 slot. 3 dmg procs and 2 Dmg/Rchg from those proc sets just to get them over the perma threshold. I never really see them miss. They seem to do the job without Acc.

I am so sorry. I meant Rad/Kin Corr.
-
I was reading through and thought βthis guy really wants a Kin/Rad Corrβ. I was all ready to post my super original idea until @Without_Pause came along and spoiled it for me π If you like being in melee range, being active and obliterating enemies...and making your teammates happy...then Kin/Rad is for you sir.

Wanting to give Rad/Rad a go...1st Rad Armor experience
Doc Ranger replied to Doc Ranger's topic in Brute
So now Iβm on the fence between tanker Rad or Elec armor coupled with Rad melee. I like the idea of two damage auras if I went with Elec. But which is tougher for endgame content. If they are very close then I might want the extra Dmg aura. -
I put procs but add one Acc/Dmg or Acc/Dmg/Rech or Acc/Rech etc. Unless the build has a ton of global accuracy...then I just leave it procs.

I will mimic what @rmancu said if you are unsatisfied with /Rad. Plant/Dark is a beast. I can farm +4/+8 with mine no problem. The /Rad toggle debuffs are useless on anything but AVs because everything else dies so quickly. My build looks drastically different than his but Plant/Dark will do the dmg AND make your teammates unstoppable with Shadow Fall, perma Fade and perma Soul Absorption. If you decide to go that route then I would be happy to share my build.
-
So odd to see all the different slotting methods for a couple of powers π Here's my take after playing /DA on several controllers. Typically in a /DA build you are hunting some recharge for perma Fade. I slot Twilight Grasp with 2 Touch of the Nictus (1 Acc/Heal, 1 Dmg Proc) and 4 Cloud Senses ( which includes another Dmg Proc and the set of 4 gives 6.25% Rech). For Soul Absorption I will tell you that slotting for Acc is useless. Please don't think you need to do this. It hits everything no matter what. For slotting...if I have plenty of slots left I will 6 slot it with: 2 Efficacy (End, End/Rech), 2 Perf Shift (End, End/Rech) and 2 of your favorite Heal Set (Heal, Heal/Rech). If I need to steal slots I will pull the EndMods from Efficacy first, then Perf Shift. If I absolutely have to steal another then I will take the Heal. Minimum slotting for me is Efficacy End/Rech. Perf Shift End/Rech and a Heal/Rech. The key is to max the recharge. Perma soul absorption and Fade will make your party unkillable...as long as they hang out near you π

Wanting to give Rad/Rad a go...1st Rad Armor experience
Doc Ranger replied to Doc Ranger's topic in Brute
I have been considering Rad/Elec Armor also but so many posts here about "best brute" or "toughest this or that" always have people praising Rad Armor and Dark Armor. I have a DM/DA brute at 45 right now and even though it's fairly resilient, I have lost interest in it. So I thought of trying Rad Armor. Do you think Elec Armor is better for most content? I have not given Elec armor a shot yet either. -
I have a Rad/Bio Brute I have had for quite some time that has been really great so I kinda know what Rad melee attack powers I like. But I've never tried Rad armor nor do I know proper slotting or what powers are skippable. I'm want something for endgame toughness...not building a farmer. Outright damage output is not priority...so Proc maximizing isn't my focus. My Rad/Bio has no procs (other than what come in the sets I have slotted already) and the damage output is acceptable to me. I am really going to defense/resist/rech bonuses so he can be as tough as possible. Any assistance with info or sample builds is appreciated.
-
I left a team mid mission yesterday after a guy kept porting my perfectly grouped and controlled mobs across the room to another teammate. Leaving me with a couple Lts and Bosses to deal with. Pissed me off and after about the 5th time I just quit.
-
Yeah it looks like fun. How is it with end game content beyond your basic PI Av mishes etc? BAF, ITF, DA etc? Looks like I will have to rely on inspirations, Incarnates or Epic pools for getting regen or recovery issues taken care of in emergencies. Which is fine...but I like to know what I'm getting into. I have a Fire/Dark which is somewhat fun but I don't really play much anymore so I'm familiar with Fire Control.
-
I have yet to try poison and this concept intrigues me as a way to give it a go. I would likely change up the build a bit to suit my tastes but it looks fun. Do you think Fire is the best pairing or would there be another primary to go with it? If Iβm going to try a new secondary I might as well put it with the best primary for it.

Honestly I only use the melee stuff for bosses or Lts that survive the AOE Rain attacks. I use Shackle almost never. Most people don't take Bitter Freeze Ray so I have no experience with that. I use Negaton fairly rarely so I have it slotted with a winter set for bonuses. I use Defiant Barrage in Ice Blast. I am soft capped to all the types except Psi instead of positional. 35% AOE, 30% Ranged 29% Melee. My attack chain is usually to lead with the Rain AOEs then jump into the middle and use Radioactive Cloud, and Atom Smasher. Depending on the situation my single target chain will be Ice Blast, Freeze Ray, Bitter Ice Blast, Positron Cell. Then cycle back around. If there is a tough Boss left I will close back up and use Negaton as well. I like my bonuses so Procs aren't usually something I lean on...especially after you open up Incarnates.
-
I think I am just getting old but I am really starting to realize I donβt like anything that visually obstructs my view of the battlefield. Pets in general. Big lore pets. Stormies really get under my skin π Bright colors on Time effects. What is wrong with me?
-
Much of the good stuff has been covered. I too hate when a controller doesn't play to the strengths of the team. Don't just "do all you can do". Do what benefits the playstyles of the team. For example...I don't bring out pets AT ALL during play unless the team needs it...like AVs where we need more DPS etc or when I am solo. Also I wouldn't be spamming wormhole if the tank is already near the aggro cap. If you give him more than he can aggro then the rest will immediately look for the next victim to pummel. I was playing my Stalker the other day and the troller kept immobing things before the were grouped. Or others were KBing mobs out of reach. I decided I wasn't going to chase things around and just moved on whenever that happened.
-
I usually try for Recharge and Defense. My actual build doesn't have all the winter sets yet. Just get a few as you go. I do have both ATO sets in there because they can be bought for 8mil ea and then you can use a catalyst on them when you hit 50. Catalysts drop fairly steadily so that shouldn't be an issue. Here are the substitute sets I have in there now due to cost issues...and other alts taking priority π Negaton Slam...Mako's Bite. Usually 1mil each. Freeze Ray...Thunderstrike. 1mil each. Ice Storm...Annihilation. Atom Smasher...Obliteration. Blizzard...Positron's Blast. Radioactive Cloud...Basilisk's Gaze. Positron Cell...Decimation. The build is still very sturdy π This is my 1st and only Blaster. I play mostly controllers which is where I have been sinking my cash...along with a new Stalker build. Just build it in Mids how you want it to be and sub cheaper sets until you can afford it.

If played with a team that generally stays together I don't think it's possible for a teammate to die with Nature π You've got some serious green numbers and buffs all over the place. It's amazing. But, when you want the ultimate in control...Dk/Dk can't be beat. You can stand in the middle of +4/+8 mobs and eat a sandwich if you want π

Here is my build that has worked well so far. My advice for the expense is to use less expensive sets that offer similar bonuses. If a Purple or ATO set gives you some recharge and some ranged defense then maybe look for a less expensive set that offers bonuses in the same areas but at a lower value. I don't use many procs because I am chasing bonuses to make me more sturdy. You will certainly miss Ice Storm. You need the aoe of Blizzard and Ice Storm. I use them every single mob. I will sometimes stagger the two build up powers...use Aim for one mob and Ionize for the other. That way you have one of them up all the time. But sometimes I forget and just hit both, Ice Storm, Blizzard and walk to the next mob π Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build!
