  1. The negative connotations are that shock treatment was used as a form of conversion therapy on LGBT people. Maybe this doesn't offend you, but several LGBT people who I know and love have expressed their discomfort and distaste toward the name. It's not nitpicky. It's not unreasonable either, because it's not like this powerset is even in the live version of the game yet. It's a beta powerset, if the numbers can be changed, the name can be changed.
  2. I agree with an above post that advises against "reclaiming." Saying that you're taking it back doesn't really do anything to assuage the negative connotations the name has with the people it has history with, and I too would advise against it. If the abilities themselves are up for review and change, there's no reason the name can't be changed to something that doesn't have those negative connotations. Also, the argument that "these other things are there, so we shouldn't change this new thing so that people will be more comfortable with it" is a bad argument.
  3. I agree with whoever suggested Surge Protection as an alternative name.
  4. No thanks. This idea just sounds like a punishment for people who like min-maxing and building their characters, and that's my favorite part of the game. I want my characters to be able to mow down hordes of enemies once they're built.
  5. I think that crashes in general are an unnecessary punishment indicative of poor game design choices by the live devs earlier in the game's life, and it was pretty evident that they were moving away from punishing mechanics such as crashes toward the end of live, given the blaster update. So, yes. I think it should have no drawbacks that can't be mitigated. But if it absolutely has to have a crash, I would rather not have it at all. Just buff the other powers so the set isn't reliant on rage and swap it out for a buildup.
  6. The set relies on rage being up to be middle of the road.
  7. I really don't want to have to spend time staring and waiting for rage to come out of no-no mode, but that's a personal thing, I suppose. Why does rage need a crash at all?
  8. Honest question: why does it need to be punishing to any builds? Super strength has three (arguably four) good powers in it and I doubt it would be the GOAT if you just straight-up removed the crash, especially in a world where Titan Weapons exists and doesn't have any punishments attached to it.
  9. Super strength isn't even that good with stacked rage, which the set relies on pretty heavily. Also, to my knowledge the live version of rage's crash doesn't apply a -res debuff, so this looks like a pretty severe nerf to a set that's middling at best.
  10. Personally, I'd like to see the incarnate system left alone. I think it's at a point where it doesn't overwhelm standard mechanics completely but also grants characters a noticeable power boost for their efforts. Honestly I'd like the game to just move on from the Incarnate story. I actually don't want to see any more of the Battalion arc. I find it kind of boring and unless the HC devs have notes or something to follow from the Paragon devs, I don't think continuing where they left off is necessarily a good idea, because while I think the HC devs are great, without knowing exactly what Paragon was going for, there's really no way for them to get it right. But, who knows? Maybe they do have notes and whatnot for all of that. Still, I think it would be better to move in a different direction. Nix the Coming Storm, come up with new, fresh ideas and content. I would like to see an expansion of difficulty settings, though. Maybe an "incarnate" difficulty flag along with the standard +'s? I think that would provide a suitable challenge without requiring endgame content to be specifically designed around incarnate powers. I'd also like to see the katana bug fixed, and old, lackluster powersets updated. I guess pipedream wishes would be further removal or complete removal of all crash mechanics from abilities like Rage, and maybe for characters to have actual fingers instead of mitten hands.
  11. I do agree that it's too dark. I think they should make it a gradient or use a lighter color.
  12. I'm firmly in the camp that nothing happened, the city kept going, and it's 2019.
  13. Agreed. Love the idea, but it could stand to be a lighter color.
  14. It doesn't really matter outside of an RP team or PVP, to be honest. I very rarely take level into account and I don't think that power selection needs to have a 1 to 1 equivalency with roleplay.
  15. I don't want them buffed. Maybe it's because I'm a roleplayer and this would add a layer of annoyance to roleplaying in zones like Founder's or Peregrine, but I also don't want to deal with being stunned and almost one-shot while I'm moving in between missions. They're fine as they are now.
  16. I'd just play psi melee as something else or I'd just ignore it because I don't think game powers and RP powers need to have a 1 to 1 equivalence.
  17. At this point it should simply become a Null the Gull setting rather than forcing an already sub par set to devote a slot in many powers. I just don't use them. Like I said, knockback is the whole reason I find the set fun. Not a one of my EB sentinel's powers has KB to KD slotted. IMO knockback makes energy blast one of the most entertaining sets in the game. But I wouldn't be opposed to a null the gull toggle option for people who don't want to do knockback.
  18. Knockback is the entire reason energy blast is fun, so I'm 100% against any change that implements KB->KD into the set proper. I'd permanently shelve my EB/EA sentinel if this became reality.
  19. Music, maybe graphics post-update. To be honest not much more than that, these days. It's turned into less of an mmo and more of a sunk cost simulator. Everything about their design is meant to keep you subscribed by making everything take a long time to do. Oh, uh. The game used to be a little better at showing instead of telling as far as story content goes, but nowdays to get any of the important parts of the story you have to read the novels, so I can't give it that anymore.
  20. The incarnate system, to a lesser degree, fulfills a similar function to IO sets. Certain aspects of it are slightly more extreme, some are less. And the system does not patch every single hole. All it really does is allow greater freedom when building a character, because you aren't as restricted by the need to patch whatever faults your powersets may have in your build itself. Does it make the more powerful sets even better? Yeah. Who cares? It's a superhero game. It's about being super. Anything that makes my characters more super is a good thing. It also makes some of the generally bad sets more playable. Also, destiny isn't trivializing anything, unless what you're really getting at is that people aren't being forced to wait around for you to apply buffs to them. Judgment does way more to trivialize content, what with nukes flying around every which way, and I still wouldn't say that it trivializes anything.
  21. Forecaster Foiled! 30 JUN 2019 Disaster relief efforts are underway in the wake of the events that took place during the evening hours of Saturday, June 29th, when four category 5 hurricanes mysteriously appeared in various locations across the coastal United States. The culprit, a supervillain calling himself The Forecaster, otherwise known as Max Chesterfield was apprehended a few hours into the event by members of Battle Ready Organization, who were seen spearheading efforts to demolish Chesterfield's Hurricane Generators before taking him down. Members of Battle Ready Organization were also sighted aiding in evacuation efforts. Several of Chesterfield's criminal underlings were also apprehended, including Black Ice and The Sportscaster, a former coworker of Chesterfield's during their time at Paragon's Channel 7 News. Relief efforts are still ongoing.
  22. I generally build my characters around their concept, but I also don't hobble my characters in an effort to strictly adhere to a concept. I also don't think that RP needs to be dictated by out of character game mechanics. As for the psy debate: I have seen people with mind control powers act in pretty terrible ways, so I don't begrudge a single person who puts something like that in their bio.
