Born in Battle --- 500k Damage badge plz
Razor Cure replied to RubberDougie's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I dont know about this. Sure, farming IS easier to get the badge, by far. But giving how utterly, stupidly unrealistic the badge was (500k isnt 'so' bad), farming was really the only option. 10mil damage, on an MM? Yeah right. I think my first brute only has about 750, reaching 50. So that would be like 10 times that! -
Posi1 is easy to solo, and super fast (25 mins or less). A great way to get a Notice of teh Well quickly when its the Weekly. Penny is also easy. In fact a LOT easier, without the huge ambushes set for a full team. Synapse is also doable. And faster solo. In fact, most of the TFC ones are pretty basic. redside..well..you usually get more inventive 'end' battles than just a hitpoint sponge. Like the insanely massive ambushes in Ice Mistral, the crazy kb and psi damage in Temple of the Waters.

Born in Battle --- 500k Damage badge plz
Razor Cure replied to RubberDougie's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Damage farming is not hard though. And it used to be WORSE. I think. ALmost certain it was 10million on Live. 10! To get it on one of my early toons, an MM, I had to respec (no alt builds back then) and full slot Rest for healing, so I could farm the damage up. It took maybe 2-3 nights doing that. But yeah, even 1 mil is a bit much, easilly if you are an AT that doesnt get hit much. -
A faster DrQ is STILL a DrQ. And an utterly boring time with no excitement or payoff (other than the finish line).

Shield Defense's "Active Defense"
Razor Cure replied to StrykerGaming's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
In spite of the points about AD being easily perma'd and all round more efficient (end wise) than a toggle..I'd love to see an option for in, like SR on Senties. I didnt mind teh click mez prot on my stalker, but on my scrapper, it always seems to go off at the most annoying time. When i am about to jump into a mob or have just hit BU. Sure..I could set it to non-auto..but that is al;so WHY I'd prefer a toggle. SO I dont have to worry. -
What a waste. Seriously. lol I agree..you can get travels with not 1/2 power, like SS/SJ without hasten or combat jumping. Box and Kick are just crap, even more crap on a non melee toon.

FoTM as a tool to decide what sets and powers to tweak.
Razor Cure replied to Razor Cure's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
What amazes me about EMp being so popular..is how rubbish (according to my view of how an emp should be played of course) nearly all emp fenders are! Exactly! There is clearly two sides..hence the idea for alternate powers..rather than wholesale changes. -

If something still feels meh by teh time you get your big attacks or support powers, few people are gonna spend more time on it. Also, we must consider that a large portion of the played base are OLD players, and as such, most likely tried a heap of combos on Live. If they found it poor there, and know no changes have been made, why would they bother doing it again? Conversely, if you had toon X on Live, and it was awesome, they would be remaking it . Look at AR, in regard to Aesthetics and performance. Lotsa people love guns (look at DP) and yet Dp is one of the most made..AR isnt. The animations are old and boring, and the performance isnt anything great, even more so before the snipe changes. -

Very true...but before AssBot (and by extension, Tier 9 attacks and buffs) Robotics kinda lags. It is pretty safe, with bubbles and ehals, but not amazing. Likewise, SuperStren is average to good, pre FootStomp, then just becomes awesome. Same as Fire Armour has average performance TO 50, then with IOs and incarnates, can become a farming machine. Again though..as a tool to work out what powers need tweaking, the focus should be on the lowest, not the best few. -
I just found the FoTM (flavour of the month) threads in the Announcements section, and encourage anyone who has not, to go have a look! There is also this super awesome table, that shows the % that a specific power is taking, in a specific power set (like Repel in Kinetics for example). https://forums.homecomingservers.com/fotm-powers/ From a fairly brief look through this mass of data, some pretty clearly conclusions can be drawn about what Sets are the most popular for the ATs, and what powers are being used, in those sets. I am not going to summarize it all here, as that is a LOT of work and you should look for yourself. It is really interesting. Some things are pretty obvious, like Ice Melee being way way down, or Scrappers not taking Taunt/Confront powers, but others, at least to me, came as a surprise. I would never have guessed Regen was still so popular, for one. Naturally, there is always going to be outliers, and perceived 'best' powersets, as well as combos and powers that get picked from an enjoyment or RP reasoning, and that is ok. But when 17000 people have made Spines on a brute, and not even 1500 have made Ice melee..well, something is certainly wrong with that set. Naturally I cherry picked one of the most extreme example, and the numbers will never be equal, but that is a huge difference! 27k Fire armour, to 1870 Ice Armour, as another example. This could almost (almost) be seen as a reason to nerf FA, but we have to consider that at least (maybe) 75% of those are being made as farmers, along with fire/kin trollers etc etc. So instead of looking at ways to 'nerf' the generally considered top tier sets, I'd view this data as a way to work out what underperforms, and even flat out sucks. Again, it is easier to do that on a Powerset basis, as some people just wont enjoy AT X or Y, no matter what powers they can have. As an example, search that table for FireBlase..96% of people take Fireball and Blaze, so I think we can safely say those powers are at the very very least Well performing. Likewise, only 26% of fire uses and taking Fire Breath (cause it sucks imo) so maybe that could use a tweak. But Fire Blast as a WHOLE is regarded as a great set and near the top in most categories, so should the single 'bad' power in it get attention before an entire Powerset that is seen as Bad? Tough Call for sure. As I said, I think the data should be used (ideally, there is a lot to look at) to identify the BAD sets and powers (as opposed to teh less good ones) and look at ways to bring them back up to par. Of course, this also brings the HUGE issue of changing some power that a few people totally love to death. Which, as an old energy melee player (ET, RIP) I totally get. And so..the following suggestion: In teh same way SR on Sentinels has an OPTIONAL power, rework some of these less used sets with options, rather that just changing them. This would let established players of said build continue using what they enjoy, but would encourage new people to try out stuff they might never have bothered with. As a side benefit, things like: Optional powers for ALL energy blast or PB powers, to flat out change any KB into KD (no need for an IO, if you LOVE pb's but hate the kb, its gone). Armour sets with NO self Rez for those who hate that, and a decent tier 9 thrown in Weapon sets like dp/db/staff with a Build Up power, rejigging as needed Sets like AR (which..there really is nothing like AR) having normalised cone ranges, or sets like DB for blasters getting a ranged AoE (cause energy blast, archery, and ar, all have cones + an aoe) Possible alternate animations for things like Aid Self/Other, attacks (MA already got a lot of alternate animations, Id LOVE some for Rad Blast..neutron bomb for example is so slow) CLick Mez protection being opional/exclusive with a toggle mez prot.

I find this really sad. Both those /fa brutes are farmers, and I'd say about 75%, at LEAST, made with that combo, are to build a farming toon.
-
Agreed! Be worth it just for teh lack of interrupt if they added that to Aid Self.
-
I have another thread about how I think Interrupts should be beaten, taken outside and hung..but this is kinda similar. I just grabbed Field Medic on my beam.traps corr..first time using the power. I assumed (yes, I know, dont assume) it was an auto, that improved the average Heal Powers. But no..it is a click. A CLICK. So before using aid self, if I want it to be better..I have to use another click. Just increasing the likelihood of dying before it goes off. Even more so since FM does NOT remove the Int of Aid Self! Really?! WOuld A single non -interruptible heal be sooo bad? Every 3 mins. That would actually be worth using the first click for FM. Can Field Medic remove the int of AId Self? Keep the power itself as a click..but come on.
-
Maybe. I don't think that applies in CoX pvp though. The i13, or whenever, changes, just totally BORKED pvp, in ways that were never wanted, in any way, shape or form. I read a lot of good threads on proposed pvp changes, written by people who did nothing else, with the goal of brinding as much balance and functionality into pvp as possible. As far as I know, 99% of those ideas got ignored altogether. Can;t really blame any of the pvp crown for being passionate about wanting to change things for the better.
-
He kinda isn't. That and anyone against his idea is 'being unreasonable.' At least Mac made the valid point about the global pvp resistance buffs. Although I think they were also to cover Epic shields having very specific res/def to a few starts, and nothing to everything else.
-
Did the game need IOs? Incarnate stuff? Super Inspirs?
-
Please point me to the part where I said I don't like pvp. Go on, I will wait. Also..if I did actually say that, it isn't true. I wouldn't say I super lvoe happy fun time pvp, but I don't dislike it.
-
This. I support this idea..getting NEW players into pvp. But, it is totally unrealistic. Back on Live, after the BIG pvp changes (travel sup, damage tweaks, etc, I forget the Issue), many people I know gave up on PVP. Granted, none were the super hardcore crowd, but the amount of difference just killed it for them. ANd they never went back. Likewise, even now, if MrNewPvP suddenly hears about getting free accolades in a pvp zone (also, assuming he does NOT already have them from doing his pve, rendering the entire idea of getting new players into pvp, moot), who is to say his build can hack it? I know from my time pvping, how few builds are actually viable, and how an even smaller subset are actually top tier. And all those builds 'require' a stack of pvp IOs, purples, boosted IOs (i am assuming thats what nearly all dedicated pvp builds have). The odds of a pve'er having pvp IOs? Pretty damn slim. More likely his build would be totally inappropiate, and some tricked out (Insert FoTM here) would just utterly spank him. Even WITH a few more hp from those accolades. Granted, that may encourage him to look more into pvp, and that would be awesome. But speaking from experience, it is more likely to have him go 'wtf, all me powers are different, blow this,' and go back to what he enjoys.
-
Please listen to what I am actually saying. I have NO issue with the main accolades being earnable in pvp. EARN. Got it? Not handed out for nothing. I can quote you right there in face..wanting something for nothing, is kinda unreasonable. Also..say I spend 30 mins a week in pvp, surely that means I am now a casual pvp'r, and allll my pvp IOs should be giving there full list of stats when I pve. Cause..not getting that somethnig for nothing, is, as you say, unreasonable.
-
Well good for him. How many other pvp'rs do that? I did plenty of pvp back in the day, but now the game is back, that is far on the backburner. Besides, I don't think someone not pvping means they cannot state that getting great powers for nothing is too easy. Also, if he does level up in pve..why does he need auto-accolades? At teh very least he would have TFC, Atlas and PoJo, mostly done. I can understand you not wanting to spend more time in pve Mac, since you dislike it, and that;s fair enough. But if he is doing it anyway..
-
You mean in the same way that PVP'rs say pve is boring and easy? Why do you have opinions on pve, when you don't do it?
-
Oh, more catering..like accolades just being handed out in pvp zones..for free? Same thing. Does that make their request unreasonable too?
-
It is still some really great powers for ZERO work. Simply cause you don't like pve! Again, why don't my pvp IOs work in pve? Because I don't like pvp at all (which is a lie, but you get the idea). I want all those extra bonus stats for nothing. Seems fair, right?
