Was looking at Epic powers but should your build allow, Wall of Force does look to have reasonable recycle times.

I tend to lean towards (PB)AoEs because as a melee it makes it easier to hit things not having to think about adopting a position to maximize targets hit. What can I say? I'm lazy.

I gotcha. I started fooling with Wall of Force because:

    • I got used to the travel power (having taken it on a specific character), and I always take a travel power,
    • Once the travel power is taken, the barrier to entry is one (of two possible) single-target ranged power (each is proc-able, or for set mules in 'unorthodox' builds I suppose)... I have always taken the debuff Weaken Resolve (better %proc rates!)
    • The pool includes a perfectly good LotG mule power as well.

On melee characters, I don't even bother to worry about enhancing range (as I often do with cones, also because 'lazy'). PVP Acc/End/Recharge 50+5 is just fine, even if it nibbles at the proc rates. 2-piece bonuses from either Javelin Volley or Bombardment is usually how I roll, depending on AT. I personally don't slot it with the %-Resistance from Annihilation, but I wouldn't argue with anyone who did so and took the 2-piece +MaxEnd bonus from that choice.

As for Epic/Patron powers... sometimes there are some sweet choices! I can see something like Melt Armor speeding up defeat times.. at least if you were to time its use for when you have multiple Boss or high-resist LTs close by, because of the inherently long recharge. AFAIK, this power does require an accuracy check, and given the inherently long recharge (200 seconds?) I think I'd rather just rely on the 30 second single-target recharge of Weaken Resolve for when I need it and drag the undefeated Bosses/Lts to the next spawn. If I want a lil' bit of %-Res I can always add thet %proc to the Wall of Force cone too!

Also part of my personal math is this: I rather like it when my (post-50) melee builds play the same (that is, same powers to click) across a wide range of content, including low levels. Having ultra-cool Epic powers but not having them available in low level content makes me somewhat sad. YMMV.

First, to @Ston, thanks for putting a lot of documented work into this.  People may not agree with all your choices, but the fact is that you tested a lot of data in a consistent manner and kept good records and that is enough for me.  One gold star for you!

RE:  Wall of Force.  The proc rates on this pool power by my calculations are significantly lower than anything in the epic pools (for scrappers at least).  I can't bring myself to 4/5 proc out a power when each proc only has a 15-25% chance to proc.  Too much variance.  I'd much rather proc out Ball Lightning or Sploding Shirkin which should get me somewhere north of 50% chance per proc.  That said, if you want more than one epic ranged AoE, WoF is, in fact, a ranged AoE.

I think Yomo is sponsoring this fire sale of purples and pvp IOs. Or is it me? Both of us? A lot of us? Who can say with any assured accuracy?

Heh.  I've often said that it's a lot easier to get the market to do something it already wanted to do.  There were/are a lot of stored up purples and oranges, and that's fine and dandy but there's nowhere near the amount of demand there once was.  I figured I'd get out while the getting's good and managed to sell off a lot of what I had in storage.  Which was sizeable.  I was/am a bit surprised to see the selloff continuing, but I am sure that there were/are people with stashes that dwarfed mine.  There have been mass consistent buyers of purple recipes forever, and I shudder to think of how many were being held in inventory.

So anyway, at this point, I'm just a bit player in purples and oranges, although I'm still a net seller!

  3. Here's another take, (but I get that it's not for everyone):

Only three offensive attacks from the primary, and slotting Hand Clap to the MAX!  I go with Unleash Potential over Rune of Protection because you get a lot more value from the defense and the healing from the former than from the resistance of the latter.  Moment of Glory is a set mule once you max out recharge, and I used it for endurance and slow resist.  Levels 38-44 power are kind of up to you, but you'll probably want some extra offense and if you get three slots of a ST ranged and two slots of an AoE ranged, you've got your 100% slow resist.

I like the Triumphant Insult proc in Integration, because it's sneaky.  In and of itself it's pretty useless, but it's gonna help you stun a lot of bosses, especially if you choose Control Hybrid.  If you want to take only two ancillary/patron pool powers, take taunt and stick another one in there as well.

But I know that for the most part salvage is salvage on /ah and they are pretty much worth the same influence in given categories.

I really have no idea.  I do know that salvage in the market is priced about the same. whether this new system will make those prices change?  Who knows?

To OP, I just want to make sure that you understand that salvage in each category is exactly the same in terms of price and volume.  I apologize if I am repeating something you already know, but when salvage (common, uncommon, rare) is put into the /AH system, it is fungible, or bucketed.

If I sell an inanimate carbon rod, it goes into the pool of "common".  If you bid for a spiritual essence and buy one, it comes out of that pool of "common".

  5. I've been taking out a few Radiation Melee characters out since the IG pulse nerf.  I've been having troubles with hostage missions, but couldn't figure out why until the Rescue Wormy mission.  He stops on the last IG patch and waits there until the new one pops up, then he follows until the next patch.

Since patches only spawn every ten seconds now, this makes things very awkward, especially if there are ambushes as well.  Yes, I can turn it off, but that adds a lot to my vulnerability, especially since I also have to turn off my stealth (which at least makes logical sense).

I totally understand why you wanted to nerf IG for AFK farming proc purposes, but is this throwing out the baby with the bath water?

  6. For regen on a brute, a few things that will really help:

You can take MoG at level 30 now.  It's only 15 seconds, but that's 15 seconds where you should feel pretty confident that nothing will kill you.  That's enough time for one of your heals to come back, or to pop an insp.

I'm a big fan of getting an additional "oh @#$@" button in the form of Unleash Potential.  Totally underrated power pool, IMO.

Going Soul Patron pool and taking Darkest Night at lvl 38 now will keep you safer than a cheeseburger at a vegan convention.  Three lvl 53 Enzyme HOs will eventually give you the functional equivalent of 16% additional defense.

And, as always, remember that Instant Healing is a proactive choice rather than a reactive choice.  If you are starting to go down, it's too late to pop it.  Pop it before a big battle, not in the middle of one.

Confirmed, that the Avalanche proc is causing more of the scatter than normal. I tried the same tactics on another Axer and the scatter was greatly reduced.

If you put a chance for KD proc in a power with chance for knockdown, whenever both activate the KD mag stacks high enough to turn into KB.

There are a lot of interesting things that can happen with procs!

So how are folks slotting Axe Cyclone? On my tanker, I have:

    •  Fury of the Gladiator - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge (boosted)
    •  Fury of the Gladiator - Chance for Res Debuff
    •  Eradication - Chance for Energy Damage
    •  Perfect Zinger - Chance for Psi Damage
    •  Obliteration - Chance for Smashing Damage
    •  Explosive Strike - Chance for Smashing Damage

Obviously the Force Feedback %+Recharge is an option, but personally I'd rather have the chance to do a little more damage (off-brand) damage that doesn't rely on targeting, especially for enemies like Super Stunners who can be hit during the period after they've rezzed but before they can be targeted.

For my scraxxers, I’m generally going with 3x Superior Scrapper Strike, Armageddon A/D/R boosted and proc, and FF proc.  I put the FotG proc in Cleave (as well as the Critical Strikes proc) since Cleave is part of both my ST and AoE chain.

Assuming you are fighting 3+ in the mob, crit strikes proc should trigger practically every time.  (Lead with Cyclone and everyone is pulled next to you.  You know who is now within three feet of your target next to you?  Everyone.)

  9. I had been accumulating so much stuff for so long.  But I finally got to the point where I wanted to put my inf where my mouth was and to cash out before the music stopped.  I'd rather sit on a huge pile of inf than have a huge pile of inventory that is worthless in a fire sale.

I mean, I even opened all my Winter Packs!

Oh, you don't want to see that, because it's cranky.  Maybe I'll monologue another time.

But, as a way to demonstrate we do already have the tools available to clean up our own playpens, here's this guide again.  I know, I know, you (generic you, not anyone in particular) don't want to do this.  Great, but it does work, and you are certainly allowed to opt out of using this method or others that will clean up your inventory.

  11. If you are forgetting to activate your stances after defeats, try putting your default next to your armor toggles.  Makes it easier to not overlook, especially if you tend to be in Body/Offensive.  I mean, you don't forget to activate Hardened Carapace or Tough before battle, do you?
