So I put Regenerative Tissue (Adds 25% bonus to regeneration rate every 120s) in Health, it works fine. I put it in Mud Baths (blaster secondary Earth Manipulation) and toggle it on, and...nothing. Ooh, just tried it with Numina's, same issue. Does not show up as a bonus for regeneration in Mud Bath toggled on, but works fine in Health. Am I missing something? I thought this kind of thing should work in toggles, not just always-on or clickies.

This. It's the big flaming red hair that does it! Which disappears with the second power up*, unfortunately (though you do see it on zone change, as sometimes the L3 costume is not applied, but the power up itself is, if the effect symbols to the right of their name are to be believed.) * Seriously? His Tier 3 upgrade has him squish that magnificent edifice under a do rag like the other two, instead of, oh, I don't know. An actual little flame at the peak?

If you could customize your Mastermind minions, what would you make?
Norl replied to Magi 1's topic in Mastermind
I've been squeaking for bots with windup clockwork* since the Before Times, for both MMs and Lore. So they'd have to do some balancing work to scale it up to 50 and appropriate for minions, big deal. It's the coolest design of any creature since, well, ever. * Granted, why windup clockwork have electricity as their primary power, a feature of electronic robots, is unknown. It's the most confused thing in this game since someone decided one of the two patron gods of magic would be a Grey, an old-school, Close Encounters, 1950s anal probe alien, who would be far more likely as the patriarch of science or technology, because that's their bag, baby! -
My off-main is a claws/regen scrapper, with full T4 incarnate. I don't pretend to have a minimaxxed damage build, but I did build for damage, making sure all powers were about 130 as Incarnate stuff typically gets to, and Incarnate choices to max damage, not survivability in any choice. I took her for a spin on monster island and found out these two things: 1. She can survive at least four of the things beating on her simultaneously, no problem. She couldn't tank a hive roundup, but this is much better than I was expecting for /regen. I hasten (so to speak) to point out there were no moments where a bunch of lucky strikes might have overwhelmed half my health, only to be quickly regenned back. It never got that far, suggesting damage mitigation as first principle was in high effect. 2. She cannot out-DPS their healing (yes, I tried the plant, not just the rock). Not even with hasten and the Incarnate clickies temporarily active. No, I didn't pull out HVAS or Goody Two-Shoes purity clicky or envenomed daggers, that's not core to the class, so I didn't try. Anyway, for the latter I'm sure an alternate build with more procs would do better.

Suppose the Purple Man, or the Blight from Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep, took over a group of monsters. They forced them to ignore taunts, then sent them against the healers and blasters first. Whatcha gonna do? Sit there and cry like a baby? Or rise to the challenge?

FYI, backrolling taunt into PnP D&D was a fatal mistake. Taunt is useful in computer games because people are colossal idiots and cannot defeat all but the most rudimentary AIs. In PnP, the DM would play all the monsters, and play them accordingly, often with what hopes are unique and clever strategies, to give the players a challenge. To let some PnP fighter "taunt" such monsters, god almighty, how this universe has fallen. The whole advantage of a human DM is you can have real AI (without the A!) guiding the opposition. To backtrod onto it with computer game profound idiocy just beggars belief.

Jumping in for a comment on this ancient comment, to bring forth a far more ancient observation. Thematically, tanks are the tough guys. In practice, they are crypto controllers. They are not really tough guys. Guys who are touch and super strong like Superman cannot exist in games like this. They would functionally be tank mages -- super tough, and super high DPS. Numbers-wise, there's no reason a scrapper couldn't take super strength, just like all the other offensive types are shared. As far as the ultimate superhero model, though, I always felt it awful that tank types are pretenders to the throne of Superman. A scrapper is, or a brute is, somewhat lesser perhaps. In reality, nobody is. But to thematically reserve it to Tanks puts the cart before the horse. Sorry, tanks. You aren't melee characters. You are controllers. Deal with it. This gets into a larger discussion that the tank/heal/dps model is broken, or at least grotesquely boring after two decades and a hundred games. Here's a suggestion: For some new game, ban taunt. You've got no taunt, you've got no fake damage. You've got no fake damage, you've got no tank. Then you can let the real controllers get on with life improving their craft, and let scrapper and brute type melee go nuts with damage. "BUT I LOVE BEING A TANK!" Thank you for that comment! May I direct you to 746 other games out there that might pique your interest?

The Mastermind Wishlist: Completed, Uncut, and En Masse
Norl replied to Monos King's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Beyond figuring out a way for MMs without a mini-pet to slot the auras without wasting primary pet slots, I would like those debuff type procs, any type, mix it up, but not at the cost of the protection aura part. Add, not replace. Granted survivability is pretty strong for everyone at incarnate. I have a tricked out regen scrapper for damage, and she can tank four monsters on monster isle no problem.- 152 replies

Suppose your global was @Globalwith Spaces, how would one format a /emailsend command to work? I've exhausted all possibilities. One site even said to bracket spaces with question marks. But @Globalwith? ?Spaces doesn't seem right. Double quotes, underscore, nothing seems to work right. Any ideas?

The Mastermind Wishlist: Completed, Uncut, and En Masse
Norl replied to Monos King's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Regarding the original topic, I've felt that some MM classes are at a disadvantage for the pet protection auras. Thugs has Gang War, Necro has that spirit thing, these count as pets and can accept those auras as throw-away slots. Granted, those are slots you can't use for those special pets directly, but you can still get Gang War's damage about 130 in endgame. Let's face it, its real job is to spew speed bumps. But other classes which don't get such a pet have no option but to dump them in a primary pet or skip it. This is unfair to them in my opinion, and makes me skip them, even though MM is my favorite class. I still play bots tho =D Do not get rid of those auras though! If you have a clever way to move them so they can apply some other way, especially for the other classes, fine. I don' know what a solution would be for the other classes. Change one other power to be a mini-pet like Gang War or that spirit thing? Just flat-out allow it for one of the other powers in that class? Otherwise I have little complaints about MMs in general. I am one who never, ever, not ever, not no way, not no how, ever takes primary attacks* in an MM. My job is to manage them while they do the work and I use secondaries. * Nemesis Staff once in a while to knock down a runner is fine!- 152 replies

Neither link_info nor [ ] work for this one. I presume it's related to the percent sign and/or slash being escape sequences in chat? I have tried all variations on that I can think of but no success. I wouldn't put it beyond being a misspelling, either, but I have been over it a dozen times. Tried double quotes, too. How would one format it so such works? So an NPC a Cimeroran says this to their friend, "Have you spoken to the old woman on the hill? She is a strange one, but I think she knows more than we credit her with." I have found no old women on any hills there. There's the one who looks like Ghost Widow not far outside the entrance cave, but she's down by the water, not on a hill. There are the Sybils up in the oracle area, but they're all young, or at least look it. That's it. Where is this old woman on a hill?

Self-rez Light of Renewal seems broken now. The past two times I have used it, while in the middle of a group of monsters, they all insta-shot me as they are knocked back, killing me instantly. It used to give a few seconds during which you could start doing clickies to extricate yourself, but now it is no different from clicking awaken inside a crowd: Prez: What the heck was that? Rick: Death Prez: What kind? Rick: Instant

I know for a fact a Rikti invasion will give up and go away even with 0 heroes there defending. Sad.

This game has actually been up and been a lot more stable than the Before Times, or any other game out there. Anyhoo, "There was a problem detected in the game database system. Please post a bug report on the forums." This is a forum, I'm sure this is the 1,182rd such report 😎

Can we please NOT force "Trinity Gaming" in CoX? (Dr Khan)
Norl replied to WhiteNightingale's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Trinity play is a "local minima" in gameplay design that it seems hard for game designers to break out of. But it's easy. Get rid of taunt. You got no taunt, you got no tank. You got no tank, you got no tank crypto-controller. You must rely on other controllers and on every DPS keeping their cool. In theory, even with tanks, the design is supposed to be such that high DPS can overwhelm the tank's override on control, making the dps take it easy as part of the gameplay design. But supertanks that let DPS go nuts with no fear breaks even that. Anyway, taunt is the root of all evil. "But I like playing tanks!" I know. May I show you 200 other games out there that cater to it? This game, to say nothing of an experimental new MMORPG, should be playable at the highest levels without needing tank. -
For the second time I have abandoned a mission in progress during a task force because it is one of those bizarre triple-chain missions, where you do a mission, then are immediately assigned another without having to talk to the contact. I think it's Maria Jenkins, it's the tired old lady. These three in a row count as one mission, so if you complete two, then talk to the contact, and mindlessly click the top option, you will abandon it rather than select a new one. Yes there is a confirmation but again robo clicking ignores that. But now you have to re-do the first two. I'd like either an immediate un-abandon option, or a setting in options: [ x ] Ask four times if you'd actually, really, no really, no, seriously, like to abandon missions in a task force. Could apply to anything in a TF, or any of these bizarre multi-mission single missions, anywhere. Thank you for your consideration.

Never really farmed, nor badge-hunted, aside from the occasional "We're going on a badge run!" trial. Just love taking the ol' girl out for a spin regularly!
