Suggestion: break these ideas down into individual posts. There's too much going on in the first post to have a reasonable discussion about any of it beyond telling you TL;DR. Also, do I give a thumbs up to your post for the suggestion about starting as a rogue/vigilante, a Thank You for the insects MM idea, or a thumbs down for hiding one's "build" (power choices and even set bonuses isn't a build without actual slotting info)? Seriously, why did you feel like slapping all of these very different ideas into one post would gain any kind of traction or attention for anything other than being TL;DR?

How does one miss with psychic blast? Do the targets move faster than the user can think at them? -
And /getglobalname will tell you who.

How would you 'fix' Rage & Super Strength?
TheMoneyMaker replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
I'd fix it by porting it to scrappers and stalkers -
Isn't One-Eyed Jack the heroic identity of one of the Loud House kids in one episode where they all take on card-themed personas? Here's a fun experiment to try. Go back to Excelsior and instead of trying to create a new character, just try to rename an existing character with the taken name. If the name is taken, it will tell you so, but it might give you a message telling you that it's not an appropriate name, which occurs if you try to use no-no words but also if you try to take something that's been trademarked and put on a list. Superman isn't technically inappropriate, but you can't have it. So it's possible that between the time you created these characters and when you tried to move them, the names were added to the list of blocked names. If that's not the case and you get a message saying that someone already has that name, you can always log in and use the /getglobalname One-Eyed Jack command to find out who took it and ask "What's up bro?"

Maybe street justice would be a better fit with dual pistols. It's still martial artsy kinda but different from the actual martial arts of Martial Assault. -
I remember something from Homecoming's big Q&A with the original Devs, something was mentioned about either a planned magic powerset being in the works or something they wanted to do. Chances are that we probably would have gotten a few magic-themed costume pieces to go along with it if they'd gotten the chance. Unfortunately, we'll never know as the sorcery pool is as close to a proper "magic" set as we'll ever get.

I've had it for awhile, but I can't believe I got the name Firearms.

Can't I be sarcastically serious? Or seriously sarcastic?

That sounds like an admission of guilt if I ever heard one.

Instead of a -RES bonus why not have piercing ammo give a ToHit bonus to the user? If it's penetrating more easily, that should be reflected in a slight improvement in the shot going through the target's defenses.

You can also click on and hold the Chat tab (the green tab in the image above) and drag if back up to the middle or wherever you're comfortable with. I've had it happen on occasion where the Tab is literally right above the text input line and don't remember how it got there, but yeah it's easy to grab and move around. -
The problem with a "hardcore mode" deleting a character when it dies is that it completely invalidates rez and self-rez powers. What do you mean I can't rez him because he died? That's when rez is supposed to be used!

Blaster can pull just fine. If there's a tanker to get in between to taunt when too much comes charging in, then even better.

The savvy suggester looks to make suggestions that can utilize existing resources with minimal effort to develop it. For example, people often suggest new power set ideas and include ideas for existing animations and effects, mentioning them specifically so that if the idea were to be considered, the developers would see the possibility of minimal effort needed to make it happen. But even that isn't a guarantee....it's just being smart about what you suggest by knowing the limitations of the development team.

Right, "some" of it. And I'm not saying anyone should be forced to copy anything, but the idea that if one server has done something then the others "respect" it by not doing the same or similar is just dumb. I mean, even though wind control was going to be in the game and partially developed, because another server did it means we'll never see it worked on at HC? That's just lazy but also infuriating because if I want a wind control character but don't like the other server I'm pretty much out of luck.

I feel like this isn't just about people playing the way they want to but also about wanting others to play the way they want.

I don't see a problem with anachronistic costume pieces because comic books are full of time travelers, virtual immortals, and people that just rock those old-fashioned looks for whatever other reason. It doesn't just seem reasonable that some characters seem trapped in the 80s, I almost expect it of some.....and some being trapped in the 70s, 60s, or even the 1800s.

Origin powers are dumb. Throwing blades is natural? Why? Can't the blades be magical? Mutagen is mutation origin? Why can't my science origin create a mutagen? Oh, right, they can because origin powers aren't restricted to origins anymore. They're nothing more than thematic additions, which I think can be cool, but I prefer that the thematics stay flexible enough to let anyone take whatever fits their character concepts.

I really despise this policy. I like some of what some of the other servers do, and I also hate some of what they do. I like some of what HC does and am not a fan of other things. And there is no one server that has all the things I want, so basically I have to pick one or another or play on multiple, and the powers that be can go pound sand for making me have to choose any of those options. Instead of not trying to replicate each other's work, do your own thing and if another group has already done it, just do it your own way... or maybe acknowledge that they had a good idea that's worth copying. At the end of the day, none of them should be treated like their work is untouchable because they did it because all of them, HC included, are still essentially playing around with someone else's sandbox. Sure, HC got the license, but that doesn't make the game theirs.

I don't see the problem with kicking with invisible legs. I'm also against the argument that a lot of the costume items are restricted for clipping because there are plenty that still clip that are allowed, and sometimes people can do things with the clipping that makes sense for their character concept. But instead, arbitrary restrictions were set in place because someone decided that SOME of the clipping is unacceptable. It's a weak argument, and I'm not having it.

Seems like a little hypocrisy on some level. They "can't" do this without recoding the powers for aesthetic reasons, but also the aesthetics are just fine under specific circumstances... it's fine, there's no issue here whatsoever.
