  1. no advice as per the 'best' AT or power combo. no idea. got most every contact arc completed solo..... with my defender, but could only complete a few of the tfs/sfs... tried many of them many times, some taking 7 hrs., just to fail at final boss. lol. only help (if it can even be called that), is to run multiple builds on the solo toon. without multi-build, i would have stood no chance when my current gear does not work so well against a particular foe/faction... i just pick a safe spot to in the mish to 'select build x' and try again with a more defensivee or aggressive build or possibly one with a different epic/patron pool.
  2. ...but that is not really the point. Statistics like how many players have played it during the month, etc. I do not know exactly. The reward for AE arc writing could be as simple as a 'special title' like what is done for fashion contests. With game updates, every so often we get 5 or so new arcs... if that suffices the masses then so be it. Just looking at AE writing being more of a thing than it is, for little reward and small exposure.
  3. Hmm. You know that farming in AE is a thing right? How would this differ from 'merit farming' itrials, GM's, Hard Mode content?
  4. There are great player based generated arcs in AE whether they are farming, themed, difficult toon testers, etc. Within the limited confines of the AE system, they have produced some great content. Would be nice if the authors were recognized for their efforts in some way. Folks that run this stuff, at least the best stuff maybe should be rewarded similarly...merits/aether/temp powers/ whatever..... Lot's of time goes into creating one of these... maybe an 'AE arc of the week' om LFG or something? Some way to recognize the effort is all. Thoughts?
  5. I'm not really at all concerned on the issue of notoriety settings changing etc. The arc itself is just a tough one, tougher than most. Like it that way. The notoriety setting issue has been going on for years. The 'First one in' mission door.... their settings sometimes over-ride the leaders. But, think in particular this (below) would be an issue for the solo enthusiast perspective, maybe if teammates were inside the mission would not have happened. Just the issue of the hospital trip/reset issue. First time I can recall where such has happened to me.
  6. Final mission 'Rescue Bile': Situation: Solo arc attempt thru Ouro. Last fight with Indigo to rescue Bile at his holding cell. Died Went to hospital. Mission door on zone map turned "yellow star" Entered final mission door and all enemies were reset as if I did not clear them at all. My progress made in this mission was lost. Kudos: FUN FUN Challenging difficulty. Enemies seemed to con 1 lvl higher than settings chosen. My defender was running +0/1 solo EB settings for the first few missions, dropped down to -1/1 for final mission. Took me 4 hours in one evening to get through the first few missions. Then 1.5 hours at the lower settings in final mission to get to final fight... (as far as I know, maybe have to lead Bile out). Cool story line. Seemed like a 'sig story arc' kinda feel. The challenge was perfect for the peeps who like to see more difficult content. Thanks for the time and effort put into this.
  7. Reporting back part 2: what I forgot to say edit. First mission takes 10 minutes. It was a lvl XX (insert your lvl here) mission. Just a bunch of hide and seek glowie computers. Clicky click and done. Suspect you could run whatever settings you are comfortable with, no real need for defeating any enemy if that is what you want to do. Second mission... there are way-way more than the 100 'contaminated' faction needed for badge to defeat at x/8 settings. So, one run and done for me. Expect about 1/2hr to 45 minutes.
  8. Reporting back: Applies to Solo attempts. Alignment: Rogues and Villains running SOLO The Pilgrim arc 2nd mission for Rogs/Vills is not the same one as you get from Pilgrim or flashback while being Hero/Vigilante Aligned. Rog/Vill second mission is one where you help break prisoners out of the Zig. (there are zero 'contaminated' faction within this mission. cannot get the isolator badge this way). (However, it is possible get the 'jailbird' explore badge). I did not test and of the mixed team alignment stuff, so do not know. (For most every ouro arc whose missions are entered from ouro crystals this cannot be done). (I have done about 400 flashback arcs and every time which I tried this which I can recall, it would not work). YMMV as my memory may be skewed. Follow previous posts for more specifics. Thanks yall for the feedback. Appreciated.
  9. TY Will try again with different alignment. Maybe will find some 'contaminated' faction as well. Can confirm that 'zero' were on the map when rougue aligned. If this is the case, then wiki is a misleading 'that progress can be made as a villian/rougue... but not awarded until hero/vigilante aligned.' Since no 'contaminated' faction appear on the mission when running as a villian/rougue.... there is no way progress can be made. lol. Have a nice day folks. Will report back if 'contaminated' are found.
  10. ok, so i just did the missions one and two of the arc: (at x/8 settings). no 'contaminated' faction was found on map. not a single one. enemies: (which could be defeated anyways). longbow handful of prisoners from different factions.... quantity of 10 or so between the fences enemies which could click on but were "blue" to me were 1 group of 4 arachnos running around as if they were lost. cleared everything off the map but 2 groups of longbow which were littered with purple lvl 1 bosses and yellow LT's. spent 1/2 hour exploring entire map. nada. maybe yall got them in RV?... have gotten more than my fair share there, estimate 25+/- and 'closest to completion' badge counter does not show listing or progress. Yall sure that you have this badge?
  11. Going to give this "Isolator" badge a whirl today... to see. Anyone have it?
  12. Just restoring the kiosks to their full potential and functionality would be nice and nostalgic. Used to click on these, not much at all anymore. Lost their flavor. Introduced: Issue 2, titled A Shadow of the Past, was a major revision to City of Heroes released on Thursday, September 16, 2004. The city information terminal kiosks were made functional so players could access various game statistics. Kiosks are now functional, and track the Victors, Punishers, Healers, and Nemeses on a daily and monthly basis.
  13. Just walking through the phases of a typical thread for reference purposes.
  14. Felt a pang late one afternoon I was fishin' off Muir Beach with Larry LaLonde... Grabbed a tuna sandwich and I started to chew Pretty soon Ler's yellin'... "Fish On!" "Fish On"....
  15. One or two more oddball things to check... If you are running W-11. This seems somewhat common issue on other online games, some fixes for other games were Virtual Memory related. You have quite a bit of memory, maybe cleaning the cache will help a lil. Not sure what below will do for you, but link is from M$ site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/options-to-optimize-gaming-performance-in-windows-11-a255f612-2949-4373-a566-ff6f3f474613 (For my linux sys... swappiness adjustment helped a bit. Specifically from 60 to 15... for 16G of Ram, seems to be sweet spot).
  16. The simulation thing is vcool. Resident math junkie, but only concerned with the 'limits' of things to have a goal to shoot for is all. This is an interesting thread. Tried to open the git link, but do not know how to read the 'python' file to see the calcs. Bummer. If you may be referring to me running just one... I am by no means an expert in building toons, and never advise anyone to do anything in their builds. Run just one of these -Res because I tend to build things toward a goal: recharge build; toggle build; end-game build. My builds change constantly and would be considered average at best. Like to know what works, but for me just playing slowly, watching some combat attributes (to know when to step away) has become more fun. Carry-on....hope to see more threads like these!
  17. Random thoughts: -Res = +Dam -Res Proc enhancements = +Dam Proc enhancements = +Dam enhancements --------------------------------------------------- However a difference in how they work: (all i can think of atm, lol). -Res Procs same as a global +Dam enhancement for all powers on self. -Res Procs same as a global +Dam enhancement for all powers on teamates. -Res Proc benefits team objective. -Res Proc (one enhancement) = Pool Power: Leadership Assault. -Res Proc does not stack for self. -Res Proc does not stack for team. +Dam Proc works on single power on self. +Dam Proc benefits team objective. +Dam Proc stacks for self. +Dam Proc stacks for team. +Dam enhancements work on single power on self. +Dam enhancements have varying benefit depending on power. +Dam enhancements benefit team objective. +Dam enhancement benefit works with -Res Proc +Dam enhancement benefit works with +Dam Proc ---------------------------------------- Possibly an argument could even be made where Procs: +Rech = -Res = +Dam ---------------------------------------- FWIW: (right or wrong). I run just a single -Res proc in my builds. If satisfied I have enough chance-to-hit in every attack, will throw in an +Dam Proc in on rare occasion, but usually opt for a +Acc. Would rather be certain my attack hits even if it is lower in damage. Need my chance-to-hit up there for my controls for survivability reasons, figure I cannot damage them when dead.
  18. Respec at lvl 50 is a time consuming chore. Found it's much easier (for me anyways) to '/Select_build 2' or '/Select build 3.' Always leaving at least one playable build on the toon at all times to get earn merits/enhancements to bank and use to fine toon the other build(s). YMMV.
  19. Understood. Would be hesitant myself had a disk full of 32 Bit programs with a good chance of them not working in that questionable 'compatibility' mode after upgrade to 64. spitball ideas: Dual boot system maybe possible. or maybe .iso of current drive and run external. My system uses just under 2G mem when standing still in the game and ramps up from there. Happy for you that its running. peace.
