  1. And in a freak spawn where Sally was on the shore of the island where War Witch is located, but moved back into the water before I could grab a screenshot, neither does Sally; she's just a blob with a neck and head -- no fins or tail.
  2. You earn 10 Vmerits for an MSR regardless of whether you have the Member of Vanguard badge or not, but if you don't have the badge, that's all you get.
  3. It's like the bug in Windows 98 where, if you left a system up for more than 49 days, the system clock would stop advancing. I always wondered how you kept a Win98 system up for 49 days without having to reboot it for one reason or another...
  4. All of the boots costume pieces have unique sole textures.
  5. Reminds me of the joke about the Jewish stage magician whose best trick was going up and down the aisles pulling rabbis out of his yarmulke...
  6. They're automatically bought level-appropriate, so if you buy them with a level 8-12 character, you get a level 10 recipe; a level 50 character gets a level 50 recipe.
  7. The problem is that low-level IOs have been nerfed into the floor. Back on Live, you could do the Invention tutorial at 12, and the 15 and 20 IOs were a noticeable step up before you could slot SOs at 22. Now, you can slot SOs at 2, and a 15 common IO is a - 1DO - hardly worth slotting. What we need is a more uniform scaling that makes low-level commons worth slotting again.
  8. All of your opponents have multiple-personality disorder...
  9. There's nothing you get from taking a group of lowbies into the sewers to face mobs they're not quite ready to handle that you don't get from running a DFB, and the rewards are better.
  10. I would love to be able to put macros — /macro Up "powexeclocation up:max Translocation" — into the popup bar that opens when I have Mystic Flight active. It's no use when it's off, since Translocation is only available when Mystic Flight is on, so putting it in a regular tray slot just takes up space.
  11. From the paragonwiki page: He called himself Talos (pronounced "TAY-los"), though the newspapers preferred the more descriptive, “Terrific Titan.” Standing well over 300 feet tall, Talos was the epitome of titanic heroism as he battled to defend Paragon City. Throughout the 50’s and 60’s, he steadfastly rose to the challenge of combating giant monstrosities. He became the city’s newest marvel and champion. Yet deep mystery surrounded his true identity. Even more astonishing was his ability to vanish after battle. A profoundly enigmatic hero, journalists, historians and scholars had only his cryptic utterances for clues to his origin: “For thousands of years, I have been a protector of humanity.” The only certainty about Talos was his almost mystical connection to a young boy named Michael McVey. Whenever the youngster was imperiled, Talos would appear to save the day. In the last climatic battle against his arch foe, the Chimera, Talos and the serpentine beast clashed beneath the waters of the bay. A mighty battle ensued, shaking Paragon City to its foundations, tearing a giant rift in the ocean floor from which earth and lava rose to form an island. Known today as Talos Island, it is said that both Talos and the Chimera are still locked in mortal combat within its stony embrace. Decades later, Talos’ heroism had faded out of memory and into urban legend. Despite countless articles, photographs, and movie clips featuring the heroic exploits of the “Terrific Titan,” most citizens have now relegated Talos to the dusty bins of folklore. During the 1980’s, with dollar signs in their eyes, developers seized the financial opportunity of an island so close to Paragon City. Thus began the Talos Island land boom. Within a matter of months, the once barren island was abuzz with construction sites. As a publicity stunt, the real estate moguls even agreed to name the island after the city’s mythic giant. An anonymous benefactor donated the huge statue, which now stands several hundred yards from the island. So if Talos was still around in the '60s, before the battle that created Talos Island, then Spanky's history — "Spanky Rabinowitz was born in 1878 to Aaron and Maria Rabinowitz and grew up on Talos Island. He was elected to at least four terms as Mayor of Paragon City." doesn't fit, because he would have been an adult decades before Talos Island even existed.
  12. Click on it, and it sets a map marker.
  13. If you want some cognitive dissonance, go look up the history plaque on the east side of Talos talking about it marking the street Spanky Rabinowitz grew up on, and then look at the other history plaques that showed Spanky was able to breathe water, because he grew up on a street in Talos before Talos was raised up out of the water.
  14. Atom Smasher, a PBAoE power in the Atomic Manipulation set, requires the character to be on the ground or close to the ground to use the attack. If you are too high when you attempt to use the attack, though, the game presents the message "Target in Air", and the power does not activate -- when it's you, not the target, that's in the air.
  15. In the Cold Domination set for Corruptors, Snow Storm is described as a Targeted AoE power, affecting your target and targets around them. Heat Loss, which has the same icon border as Snow Storm, and also affects your target and targets around them is described as a "Foe AoE" power. The description text should be consistent with the power type.
  16. Carnies spawn on the platform of the building E of Maylor, and on the W side of that building near its N end. E and a bit S, they spawn in the passage between the two buildings there, and on the pavement W of the grassy area where the Rikti stand around. Also on the E side of the high-tension tower by the AE building, and around the buildings for a few blocks S of that. The problem is that they share the spawn locations with Rikti, Nemesis, and Malta, diluting the chance of finding them at any given spawn point.
  17. Harvey Maylor has three "defeat 50 Carnies" as part of his arc; one of them can be done in St. Martial, the other two are specifically in PI.
  18. The other issue is that, even with defeat all missions where the last spawn would normally show, if it's a rescue as well, if you have one hostage to rescue, their guards don't show up under the 'last spawn' code, so I don't know if a "show all mobs" inspiration would work.
  19. The size of the spawn you get for a 'naughty' result goes up with the size of the team you're on when you click on the present, with a full team required to have a chance of spawning a WL; I don't know if the team size you have set under Difficulty affects the size of the naughty spawn; I'll have to check. I do remember that one of the sources of WL spawns, both here and back on Live, was people running TFs seeing a present, clicking on it, and running if they got a Naughty result, leaving their mess around for the rest of us to clean up.
  20. Someone reported in chat yesterday that they had paid the 25 canes to the Candy Keeper, but not received the badge. I took my character to the ski chalet, and succeeded in purchasing the badge. I was short on time, and couldn't check the AP and Winter Forest vendors to see if it was vendor-specific.
  21. If you get a 'naughty' result, you get a spawn of snowmen, scaling with the size of the team you're on — that's how you can try to spawn a Winter Lord. If you get a 'nice result, you get a candy cane, a chance for a Present inspiration, and a chance for one of the special rewards — Snowball, a Jingle Jet, Instant Snowstorm, or Build Snow Beast. So you already can't get a reward if the mobs are standing.
