  1. Ehhh no really. Other games and media have done GIANT weapons and it does take going out to get you dry cleaning, fixing your car, and coming back home before the next swing is done. (:p joking ofcourse).
  2. Yeah no. Well unless the thematically appropriate feel is slow as molasses. Momentum is just terrible. There are better mechanics out there that can be used.
  3. Apparently some folks think there is something wrong with this play style. That the teams should just move from group to group as one. all the time. I find that boring.
  4. LMAO! Captures what it's like to play TW perfectly! You forgot go out and get coffee though. 😛
  5. The main change to easier acquisition of IOs were the seeding of the market, enhancement converters. (Though I think converts came at the end of live, so folks didn't really get to take full advantage of them.) Enhancement converters make it stupidly easy to make inf. Also the costs on merit vendors were reduced I believe.
  6. We're IOs waaay before the blaster changes though? And devs still datamind that they they underperformed? My memory may be off on that. Some others who remember can chime in. It's been a while.
  7. Yeah no. I'm always going for recharge over + damage. Recharge helps EVERYTHING. on a build. I'd bet if you took a poll most would find +Recharge more valuable than + damage.
  8. Doms are godly. Some of them can farm better than Fire Farmers. And we all know what IOs lead to for those who focus on recharge for doms. lol Kheldians can be pretty good, but they do need some help in some areas. IOs and Incarnates have helped some holes for them. A few targetted buffs would help them more.
  9. At lower levels it's actually one of the most painful sets to level. And the momentum mechanic is absolute TRASH. Glad it's getting updated soon. EDIT: To be clear I couldn't care less how much damage TW does, mine is shelved as playing her feels like I'm moving in molasses, especially after playing faster weapon-based sets.
  10. That's only telling part of the story. But others can dispute that, I'm leaving that alone for now. I'd trust the devs over the players on the forums. This thread alone shows there is no consensus on where the difficulty of the game should be. When I start seeing things on the forums like "debuffers are less wanted/powerful nowadays" is when I start to not take the opinions of the forums in general as a balance point. Forum feedback should be read and listened to . . . but only to a point.
  11. Yeah I'm not getting the sentiment at all that support sets are less wanted on HC.
  12. Nerfs and buffs should always be on the table. But they should be targetted and from a balance perspective based on what the devs see. Not some one's "feeling" of their individual powerset not being needed as much on teams today as back in the so-called "old days".
  13. Yeah we have supports feeling useful TODAY on HC. Again, some folks and I are playing a completely different game.
  14. And again for the people in the back: I believe any 8 heroes being able to clear anything in the game is a key strength. It's NOT something I would want to see changed. I would hope we don't EVER get to a point where teams are "waiting for defender or corrupter" to get going. That's never been a part of the history of this game, even in the so-called "good ol days" I keep seeing spoutted. Let's not start now.
  15. It wasn't second thoughts. The devs on live datamined that folks simply were not picking them as power pick. The crash was trash.
  16. I've only seen door sitting allowed on Farms. Not actual TFs or content. I won't discount the rest though as each person has their own experience. One suggestion I would make is trying to form your own teams. I believe any 8 heroes clearing anything in the game is a key strength. It's NOT something I would want to see changed.
  17. You mean incendiary rockets out of your butt, right, RIGHT?
  18. Yeah, also expect that everything they posted on page 1 may end up not making it out in page 6, or all of it will, or parts of it will. As long as folks keep their expectations realistic then we're gucci, as the kids say nowadays.
  19. Having something other than DPS today, DOES make the content easier. That's the point I just made. I'm not sure where this idea is coming from. Some people and I are playing an entirely different game. EDIT: To be clear I jump for joy internally when team leaders pull in Doms, Controllers, Defenders to a team when that scrapper or blaster leaves. Why? Cause I know the power of force multiplication. When I form teams I'm not primarily looking for DPS. And I've not seen a majority of folks in LFG ever turn away non-dps ATs.
  20. True. I just don't think a repeated idea coming off in this thread that certain ATs as a whole aren't seen as valuable is factual. That's not what I see when playing on pugs, iTrials, and tfs.
  21. I was here. The game then was worse than the game now. I like that you can fill you team with 8 of what's available and go to town and have fun. The further we get away from "we need more of this on the team" the better.
  22. No. You balance individual powers and outliers (buffs and nerfs) which HC has been doing just fine at and will continue to do so. Over YEARS. With the size of the team we have now, any discussion of large changes to huge systems like IOs isn't realistic. Small changes targetted at powers and sets, is more realistic. Well, if we actually want anything to actually get pushed out to production anytime before the heat death of the sun. YMMV.
  23. No. Because there are some key questions you need to ask about IO balance that you don't have to about SO balance. First of what level of balance? Are we saying IO builds that are frankeslotted, procs, purples, attuned IOs? At what balance point do you start with? What assumptions do you start with about what the majority of players are slotted with? What the "best" and "worst" slotting combination or combinations for various powers? And who decides that? Who takes the time to dig into the code to do the unit testing for that as powers are tweaked in code around those balance points? Take a look at how long changes currently take to get to live now on HC, no multiply that by many times the balance pass you'd have to do for IOs and their various options.
  24. We don't have the manpower for that. It's simply not realistic. EDIT: There are so many combinations of IOs now in the game as is, and so many builds you would need a team larger than paragon was in its heyday to be able to get that balance right, if you're basing balance around IOs. We are far, far far from that now.
  25. And this would be a game I would not play. The farther we get away from the holy trinity type of mmo's past, the better. It's the one thing COH got right.
