  1. When I test, I find it easier to use a 'bloop' test sound, it's particular handy if a power uses more than one sound.

  3. Welcome aboard fellow CoH'er. If you haven't already done so, hop down to the Excelsior server section and introduce yourself. You may like-minded players. There is plenty of room for characters so you don't even need to transfer, just start a new one. :) You can easily recreate your favourite and save time by saving your costume and powers in the costume creator/editor. Also hit up this guide for some handy info:
  4. I suppose another option would to be have separate installs for HC and the other servers. Not ideal, but it's something.

  6. For me, the connection is more with the people I play with than the MMO itself. Yes, CoH affords the ability to make endless character iterations possible, with only your imagination as a limitation (for the most part). But if it wasn't for the people that I met and played countless hours with over the course of years, I don't I would have stayed with CoH any longer that I did with EQ (3 months) or DDO (1 month) back in the day. Currently I do play DDO with some friends and it seems like every day I play I come across stupid design decisions in the game, so often that I quit saying "That's so stupid." and say "That's so DDO." instead. But I play because I enjoy playing with my friends. Which reminds me that I need to spend more time in CoH with my friends here, RL has gotten me down and I've become unsociable.

I'd like to see an arc regarding Praetor Keyes' (Anti-Matter) cracking of portal technology with a quest chain in First Ward that eventually leads to Praetorians having access to Cimerora (and level 35+ content). Level-wise it should be in Night Ward, but I don't think that would fit thematically and he did stop the Hamidon forces in First Ward without nuking the entire city, so I think it would make sense for him to have a hidden lab there.
  8. This is the primary reason why I solo in MMO's, because it's the only way I can experience the content. I got 3 character to max level in SWToR solo just so I could go through the divergent storylines at my own pace. Back on Legacy did Goldside with 2 other players in a strictly RP track and our character's motivations did not lend to swapping sides to run through all the story arcs there. We just had to be careful about shutting down XP prior to hitting certain level milestones or risk cutting ourselves off from the next contact in the chain. Horrible design decision there, I wish the HC team would do something about that.
  9. Definitely my least favourite map. I explored every nook and cranny of Morrowind so the cave maps never bothered me and I actually liked the one with the hidden hook-back. When I first started playing it took me a while to ignore the water pools in the cave maps because I was worried I might be overheard by mobs. I later found out at a HeroCon why the cave maps were reminiscent of Morrowind cave maps... but he made me promise not to tell. ^.^

  12. This should help. RosettaStone_v5.xlsx 3.85 MB · 2 downloads PK's Rosetta Stone is very helpful and it's one of the things I use when hunting down sfx for players. It precedes the latest additions to the game like Symphonic Control and sadly I don't know what magic PK performed to eek out that info from the .pigg files. @OTSStudio I look forward to hearing what you come up with for your own unique take on sfx replacements. :)

  14. This is the most damage I've taken in the game.
  15. Not sure when the change in emoji's went in but with the change, altering the font size no longer up-sizes the emoji. Just like the default font size, I find the emoji's to be too small and would always scale up their size to increase the size of the emoji like 🥸 this. Now it only increases the upper and lower buffering around the emoji like this. Both are set to Size: 28 I've not checked all the emoji, but it seem to impact the classic smileys.
  16. Not sure what the issue could be then. Are you using the Tequila launcher or the new launcher? I still use Tequila. What version of the Splasher are you running? I'm running v1.30 build 350 Since @Michiyo took over the Mod installer project when PK left and tackled the Forums Archive, perhaps this is something else they might be able to work their majic with.

  18. Did a little digging since I recall a similar conversation and found this: For reasons, the last available Splasher does not change the login screen, but will still change the character select and CC screen.
  19. I've not tried it and not sure if this thread is still viable, but it's at least a start. Personally, I still use CoH Splasher. Some have reported that it's not working for them, but for some reason it still works for me.

  22. Another option is to use solid colour banners in your base to create a background wall that can be easily edited out.
  23. ☝️ This. I don't play as much anymore, though I should. Back on Legacy I routinely played on 3 servers, Protector, Justice and Champion.
