  1. I wasn't around for it, but "back in the day" I've been told that people would go street sweep in Perez Park ("park-sweep"?), getting lost amongst all those enclosed pathways, and coming out with like 3 levels. IIRC,m the grouping in Perez is fairly comparable to any warehouse.
  2. Back then I bet it was too tough, yeah.
  3. We played that way for ages, and I still do when leveling characters, because farming is just plain boring and ultimately is missing the point of the game and pretty much stupid. IMHO. 😃 I mean, since here we're sharing our unfiltered feelings like this. There's a lot in the game, but if you want to ignore much of what it was designed to be, that's not going to leave you much to do in it, no.
  4. The game has gotten a lot more forgiving, what with the easy plethora of IOs one can pick up. I've run a couple of semi-petless that did OK. "Thrive" though? Depends on how you define it, but I ran my second attempt all the way to 50 without problem (other than a hater on the forums here when I mentioned it) and had fun, which is how I'd define it. I don't MM a lot though and dunno what might be going on in the forums over there about 'em.
  5. This would give a boost to those most insulting of all MMs ever (please note sarcasm) the dastardly Petless MM. And it would be pretty fun to have a gnome toss!
  6. This is across from the abandoned lab on Port Oakes. I dunno what their schedule is, but they're not always out there.
  7. To be fair, I have seen a fair amount of decent CoH discussion over there, when I check in (I'm not signed up). Filter out the junk, as it always goes online. 😃
  8. I ran across a ton of this on reddit and saw zero reasons given for it, just as you said. Nothing. That's why I don't pay it any mind. When there's lots of smoke online, usually that's just smoke. Let the haters hate; block them and go on enjoying yourself @Aeroprism! It's best way to live.
  9. 40 to 50 stuff was designed, best I can see, to help you level reasonably quickly, "here's some big maps just full of foes, go have at it!" The MJ arc and the ITF are just the thing for you.
  10. Whoever I'm leveling or just leveled. A random 50 that I was logging in to sell off stuff with. To be clear, I have a number of 50s I practically never log in on, but that second group alone might be something like half a dozen easy.
  11. These two sentences seem kind of contradictory, and that's not the AE's choice or fault, that's your choice, which is OK, that's your way to play. But if you're looking to just boost merit numbers per minute of gaming, then AE is not for you and probably never will be. Let me suggest that instead, you start your gaming day by farming merits via whatever method you do, until you feel you have "enough"*, however you'd define that, then go have fun with the AE. Homework is over, time to cut loose! *BTW, I have never farmed merits, and I've had more than I will ever need for a couple of years now.., so I suspect you too will hit that sweet spot very soon. Look, around, there's so much of the game to have fun with, counting beans is but one part.
  12. One Beast MM was called Capt Sam's Space Zoo (yes it just fit) and I named all the pets after planets, stuff like Mars wolf, Jupiterian Lion etc. Another Merc MM is King Pumpkin Spice and his henchmen are all named after the spices that you blend oy make pumpkin spice, Ginger, Nutmeg, etc. These pet names to me are part of the character concept, so I sweat the details with them too, yes!
  13. I rarely need it for that (or maybe I'm too slow to use it for that anyway) - I usually set up a macro to take me to the $target to make all the scrapping and ASing and ATOing all that much more fast. I kind of follow the "a good defense is a good offense, because no one can hurt you if they're dead" method of play.
  14. I often do as I may be listening to other music already.
  15. I've seen one guy five-boxing (I think) during the last ToT at the Murder Hotel: one MM down in the center of the parking lot, pets set on Aggressive, the MM itself spamming a heal to "look active" to the server; four other toons doing nothing but standing just inside the door up in the AE hologram room (the AE building is right next door to the hotel, see), doing jack-all. Devs frown on that, but at the same time best I can tell they also won't ban for it. They did unlog the guy (for server speeds) a few times but as it was put to me "he just keeps coming back."
  16. Yes, yes, those pesky people who like to game their system I know them well. This is also a game where people spend hours on their costume, without any reward other than their own satisfaction. You're providing me with evidence that outside of "make my personal number bigger!" *coughs*, some players would be lost. Yes, I know they would be. And again, it was presented a silly idea that has no chances! You can let it go.
  17. You do know you can ask for and receive three more mission slots at any time, perfectly free, right? Just send a petition in-game, ask nicely (and perhaps offer some cookies) and the Devs shall bestow them upon you with no caterwauling. Heck, I bet if you said "I have this crazy idea for a super branching story and need fifteen extra slots please" they might give 'em all to you on the spot.
  18. Nope - apparently LotG has it's own category within the Rule of Five counting system, so you may use five of them AND up to five +7.5%s elsewhere.
  19. "Passport"? To what? Maybe you mean to access stuff like Patron Pools and 4* Aeon speedruns? But that'd be a passport to the content, not the other way round.
  20. If we always failed because some guy was high, well... I'm not sure we'd ever succeed. I bet it was that Frikkin Jeff who wasn't reading chat and doing that one thing.
  21. Along similar lines of thought, I've had a crazy thought burrowing into my already swiss-cheesed brain that whenever you log in an account (not a character, an account) - boom you get 100 merits (maybe two hundred, but you get the idea). And that's the only way to get merits, no more need to farm or cheat your way* to more, so you can go play whatever you want to you and enjoy yourself. I enjoy pondering if some players freed of the the self-imposed mad scramble would know what to do with them selves, or what they might do instead... But that's just fever-brained thinking, because even suggesting to people they don't need it all right now at once riles them up like a hornet's nest in their drawers. ---------------------------------------------- *See: Scrapyard being so aggressively farmed that the devs had to act within a week or two to stop it.
  22. I may need to make a new character... Unipire? Vampcorn? So many things to figure out...
