  1. @Six-Six up there nailed it for how I started learning about it too. The most important part for me was looking at other people's builds and lurking on the conversation that followed as people here kicked around all the "Oh, I'd never slot it that way, save yourself the expense, that's not all that helpful anyway" etc. stuff after it got posted. It's a complex system by design, but the more you look into it the more you'll learn and start to recognize some of the usual tricks and ideas.
  2. And the window textures, which I miss, have been severely scaled back for the past couple of years after their introduction. I forget why that was.
  3. They are so mean right??? Then again, if the only thing covering you was that Hero ID, you would tend to draw attention, both good and bad.
  4. Oh really? What bug is that? News to me!
  5. The difference here is we're not making money off their work, no one here is, except Grok.
  6. Money Mouse did a fine job of spinning those letters. I had a lot of fun before I had to leave early, hampered only by the fan that I don't know how to play Whe-- er Sphere of Influence. I would have comments sooner but kept forgetting. Anyways, thanks for another fun gameshow! How much did the biggest winner walk away with?
  7. Y'know, circling back, I'd like to ask about this: Easier how, for whom? As has been pointed out elsewhere by smarter people than I, anyone leeching ToT in PI becomes a bigger problem because that fills up a PI clone faster. If anything, seems to me this change was tailor made for leeches, as spreading them out across sverela PIs instea djust say 2 helps them seem less wide spread and irritating, plus they can now multi-box across several murder hotels as well. Meanwhile, as someone not playing a hovering MM, I sometimes can only get into one PI after the others filled up and capped off and find the limited player count there leaves an anemic league, at best (this also hurts players who hop out of zone for a second and then can't return to the one thei league is in). I'm sure I must have that reasoning wrong however and would really like to hear what the dev reasoning is.
  8. "Historical"? Ha ha I'm still seeing it nearly every time I ToT this year - same names same MMs. And there's the problem: AFK leeching. They're not active plus they're multi-boxing to boot. My usual description of this is: imagine if someone could just invite themselves into your next fire farm or whatever in the AE (assuming you're the kind of person who partakes), and then just sat at the door hoovering up some freebies based off of your time and effort.
  9. As it gets rolled out in new missions (both here and in the game world, which I'm sure is going to happen), people will become more familiar with it and will know to avoid the floor is lava places, at least; I only died four times before I got the gist ha ha! I've only walked around in the map too myself, haven't tried to make it work with anything like allies or what have you.
  10. Agreed. I was just running a ToT league and only kicked for standing around AFKing; if you're still clearly active, I don't care what else you're up.
  11. Did they change that?
  12. Challenge accepted!
  13. I'm finding I'm having to remind folks how to run it, or , maybe more happily, we have so many new players that they don't know how to run it yet (I've run a GM hunter/league TPer for the past few years for ToT and have all this down pat, I know how to run this like some know how to Hami.... which I never really learned). Of the three times I've been around for banners so far, I've had to take the time to post a brief explainer in chat once it starts up. It's always slow to start, no, really, everyone: please leave the hotel and head to one of the colored dots on the map... but all three times we got our acts together and got it completed, even after the time the timer on one slipped below ten minutes before we even got the banners vulnerable.
  14. And there's only one of them too, so you can't say have it six times on your list at once. You'd have to get it, run it, the get it again and again (which, I don't know if happens really)..
  15. Does this mean/include keeping an eye out for XP leechers and working to reduce them?
  16. Finished it finally. Lots of solid work and thought put into this in many ways, I quite enjoyed it! I said a bit more in my comment than I'll put here, but I will say anyone looking for a fun magic arc should run this one.
  17. As an aside, why rush getting one measly level anyway? This game doesn't begin at 50, so instead settle in, faff about, get used to the basics of your new power sets, stop and stomp the flowers.
  18. "Sphere of Influence" I laughed! I was just wondering the other day what you've been up to.
  19. Scrapper-like, but go with a Shield/Electric Melee Stalker, and pick up Spring Attack. The BAMPFing lifestyle is so much fun.
  20. I love a good magic story, I'm in, soon as I can. How many missions is it? ETA: never mind, started it up and after one mission it's already fun, great character for the contact, and always nice to see Hermes Trismegistus mentioned. Again, I'm in!
  21. I was about to say "no" to this question but then I remembered that I have a stalker that I hardly play any longer that I've kept around for GM hunting during Halloween. He's seen work for the last 3 Halloweens I think. I genuinely like doing the work and porting everybody all at once to beat up on a monster, or back to the murder hotel, plus Halloween is my favorite event time in the game, so it's a way to keep at it after I've already taken down a trillion vampires at the hotel. I like the way he plays, even without the GM hunting I'd keep him, if I ever do go through and clear out the deadwood; I figure I should strip and delete about half my list of 50s that made it all the way but that I had no interest to ever revisit, or (I have more of these) toons that didn't make it to 50 that I still have no interest in touching. I do hold on to those though, in the wan hope of someday deciding I have a better concept for that power set combo, in which case I've just saved myself some rerolling time.
  22. I don't like computer/video games, just waste of time when I might be reading, watch something, doing anything else. At least playing dominoes or cards of any variety with friends is about the time spent with friends, not "did I get an ace? I got an ace, go me!" Then in 2005, a roommate moved in for a bit who was playing World of Warcarft and CoH. WoW looked just as dull as any other game, but say, that City of Heroes looks sorta neat... it's like getting to design your own superhero action figure and then getting to play with it doing cool stuff... And that was that.
