  1. it’s irrelevant thesedays, characters are magnitudes much more powerful than they were on live
  2. hmm, that’s true. but i would recommend OP plays an MA/SD scrapper, AAO is a good dmg buff and its easy to cap S/L def. useful at low levels for posi, DFB and DiB, but still valuable for MLTFs, LRSF, HM ITFs and any other TF that’s the WST as it’s a versatile AT. worth picking up a KB to KD IO from the AH. its cheap to build with SOs or IOs and is a popular FOTM, FWIW YMMV IMHO
  3. good lord, that's quite the update! some great changes: Can't wait to try this on my mind/fire dom: Mind Control/Telekinesis: No longer holds Now Immobilizes Target cap increased to 16 Radius increased to 20' Will now keep the targets between 40 and 60 feet from the player Will group enemies close to the main target (i.e. "reverse repel" or "pull towards"). Toggle now lasts a max of 30s before auto-shutdown This has the potential to revive Sonic Resonance. liquefy is now a worthwhile power: Sonic Resonance/Liquefy: Cooldown reduced from 300s to 150s
  4. i read the sleet nerf just after i posted - boo 😔😢 -22.5% res isn't too bad, could have been worse. some actual feedback to the devs however: @The Curator can the power icons for ice mastery on dominators be slightly less garish? it's a bit luminous compared to how it was previously! i do appreciate the icon for Hoarfrost being fixed though edit: exibit A of the observed crime: 😁
  5. @Mezmera you seen this new dark mastery for doms? a -res tar patch *and* darkest night - what a winner. move over ice mastery!
  6. your brother will be quite strong if he’s a tank, so any support will be enough to keep him going. if he picks up taunt as part of his build you can live a carefree life, blasting or buffing/debuffing whenever needed i would say stick with your rad/ice idea, i’ve been tempted to play that combination too. your brother will be able to keep the mobs nicely bunched allowing your rad debuffs to work well, you can then focus on blasting either a defender or a corrupter would work great, slightly higher damage on the corrupter
  7. i’d also say thesedays the game is 50% gameplay and 50% community. lots of us play at roughly the same routined times each day or week and therefore form friends and networks CoH isn‘t fast paced, edge of your seat thrills, but a game where you can invest in a character through gameplay and relax for an hour or two whilst chatting with friends
  8. you can make any character automatically level 50 on the test server and have access to automatic IOs and other unlocks - it may save you a lot of time if you’re keen to figure out what you’d like to play
  9. fortunately everything is *a lot* cheaper thesedays compared to live purples are 15-20m inf rather than 250-400m, things like numinas, LoTGs are 6-8m rather than 40-50m welcome back
  10. here comes superman arriving in his 747 oh no, the mission is in a crowded residential street 380 dead, 200 injured
  11. as others have said, if you need a self heal: omae wa mou shindeiru focus on having a strong, game changing primary - powers like seeds of confusion (plant), mass confusion (mind) and a solid, heavy hitting secondary - energy, earth in 4*’s you’re either alive or dead i wouldn’t go ice - you want as little aggro on you as possible. my ethos is big AoE control powers and heavy hitting ST damage to knock out the most troublemaking foes in a mob to lower the danger asap
  12. or they may offer to PvP you for the name, leading to a comic book style endeavour to get your old self back
  13. it’s really exciting - nice seeing people street sweeping in atlas park and other low level zones and playing the content, classic mission teams etc the game was always busy before on excelsior, but now it’s heaving
  14. plant/energy/ice would be my vote powerful confuse, powerful ST and powerful -def/-res debuff
  15. i have an ice/ice/ice that i play with on the test server, it’s quite squishy therefore definitely best suited for team play, however arctic air + chilling embrace with lots of procs is good, the damage isn’t too bad and the -recharge and slow powers seem to compliment each other well i wouldn’t choose it for solo as it’s very endurance heavy and feels more of an AoE combo /fire or /energy would be my pick for solo as they’re the best for ST damage
  16. 100% people recommending newbies join DFBs/DiBs is a really poor thing to do, “welcome to the game, here’s how to make sure you experience none of it and learn very little”
  17. yeah i agree with @FFFF, make a regen brute right?
  18. people like the extra damage a corrupter gives when scourge kicks in. damage and defense are the FOTM thesedays personally i play defenders rather than corrs as the primary is the most important part. i like having the ‘best’ version of the primary set and feel i have more license as a defender to focus on the secondary effects of my blast powers, rather than needing to build for damage e.g on a /dark defender i’d go all out on -acc and team support, rather than focusing on damage a corrupter would definitely be better for solo though
  19. superjump, i also bind my “i” key to auto jump, so if i’m travelling somewhere far, i point my alt in the right direction, hit “i” and chill out /bind i ++up
  20. people will also say that although fire has the highest damage, it has no secondary effect these people are incorrect however, the secondary effect is death
  21. have you thought about joining @Snarky for a Posi 1 TF?
  22. oh absolutely - they’re very good soloing things like giant monsters, archvillains etc later in the game once experienced. but on a “click by click” basis on an average team, you won’t be as hard hitting as a archetype with an assault focused set ill/rad is a good combination, ill/cold domination also good other controllers can also solo the big challenges, just sometimes requires a bit more planning and thinking
