  1. the mez and KB protection alone makes perma dom worth it flashfire is also worth having, a good stun that rechs quickly
  2. yes i agree, farming is too powerful in HC and has too much influence over the game, however this has been debated to death over the last few years. “it is how it is” and “just how it be” was the eventual conclusion that kept both sides happy
  3. a lot has changed, but it’s still very busy. you won’t have a problem finding a team on excelsior here’s the number of players currently online: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/status/
  4. i appreciate you taking the time to draw from other testing and giving a balanced view ultimately, if you enjoy the set OP and can make the build workable for you, that’s what matters one of my all time favourite alts is a katana/invul scrapper, i solo’d it to lvl 50.. twice! certainly not top tier damage but good fun i do recommend you try earth assault on the test server to see whether it aligns with your desired playstyle. there are many great powersets in this game but don’t always align to the way everyone likes to play. i like short, punchy, fast paced glass cannon powersets, others enjoy an atmospheric battle. if you’re having a good time, neither is wrong
  5. unfortunately it is quite a low damage set. people may like the set and that's great, i'm a fan of psi powers too, but it's factually not a high performer. however it has the very popular drain psyche power which aids survival, giving it appeal and bringing something different to the party psi assault has a range of low damage powers on offer and doesn't have a build up type power included in the set. these two things combined make it one of the lowest damaging sets available to doms. it's especially low for single target damage which will be felt during solo play. but as noted, there are other reasons than damage to choose the set. below is a comparison of psi's highest damage attack chain with high damage sets, numbers taken from mids. level 50 without any enhancements; psi assault mind probe - 114 telekinetic thrust - 86 psi lance quickform - 143 = 343 fiery assault blaze - 152 blazing bolt quickform - 171 incinerate - 123 = 446 827 with embrace of fire energy assault total focus - 226 power burst - 137 snipe blast quickform - 143 = 506 678 with power up earth assault stone mallet - 95 heavy mallet - 161 seismic smash - 207 = 463 622 with power up on a single target basis, the damage gulf is colossal. psi assault is around half as damaging as earth and energy and is out damaged by a scale of almost 2.5 times when compared to fiery assault. additionally, a 'well put together build' is also available for fire, energy and earth, further advancing the gap these sets have against psi @Scarlet Shocker i feel a full purpled out IO build isn't going to drastically change your experience with the dom - some of the powers noted on the above example are noticeably strong the moment you gain access to the power. whilst i love my mind/fire dom, i would suggest earth assault will give you what you're looking for on solo play. seismic smash is incredibly damaging and has a mag 3 hold, this'll be great for holding bosses without domination. open with a hold then smash them, reduces the danger of a mob and you'll quickly defeat enemies
  6. damn, i am now tempted to drop perhaps 50-70M on sub 10K bids to see whether it has any impact i think even if i depleted the sub-10k player held salvage it would quickly return to normal with people putting bids back on the market for low prices. it would need near continuous bids placed for sub 10K to hold the price high
  7. my philosophy is aligned with yours - i build my defender to be the best support alt it can be. most of my focus goes on the buffs/debuffs and powers which support the team - slotted veng, fold space etc i only choose attack powers which have a debuff component, such as sonic or elec. i never build for damage or personal defence a good defender is one who supports the team in my view. my low damage attacks are a minor benefit compared to the much greater benefit the buffs can give - and the focus that comes with prioritising one thing, support
  8. psi assault is quite a low damage powerset and more focused on AoE, this will make solo’ing more challenging fire, earth or energy would likely be more effective. shout out to dark assault also engage mobs by using your control powers and then batter them - a mezzed foe deals no damage i’d also recommend ice mastery for Sleet, it’s defender strength. hibernate and hoarfrost are also good as “oh no” powers if things get hectic work on getting perma dom, it transforms the AT
  9. i’m not certain whether the prices went down as cheaper salvage was being put on the market or whether the seeded salvage is mixed in rather than layered what i am certain of is that i spent 150,000,000 inf because someone on the forum didn’t have the patience to wait 30-40 seconds for their bid to fill and made a post complaining about it haha
  10. for science i bought up 15,000 common salvage @10,666 a piece despite the available volume now being below the 10,000,000 seed amount, sales are coming in for 505, suggesting the seeded volume is perhaps lower than 10K
  11. i mean, it’s a common salvage, michael. what could it cost, 10,000 influence?
  12. my main is a mind/fire/ice, i’d highly recommend it /fire is incredibly damaging due to the low animation times and well, high damage mind/fire also means all of your attacks are ranged, i have incinerate also but only use it occasionally with everything being at range, there’s also no need or value in building for defence, allows you to really focus on the best parts of the primary and secondary sets mind/fire is a brutal top tier combination, a notable step up from other doms
  13. if it’s not buying for 300, why not just bid 11,111 and get it instantly?
  14. not everything in the game needs to be solo’able by a squishie, having infrequent instances of mild challenge is absolutely fine
  15. haven’t forgot about this and keen to contribute some data to this discussion. hopefully have some time over the next few days
  16. that is so funny, laughing out loud in the office
  17. in the olden days i used to think that the “quit to desktop” option would make my character log out instantly if i was in a PvP zone in a losing fight i would quit to desktop, thinking i had uncovered a leet hack to stop myself from dying when in reality my motionless alt would still be online for characters zone to wail on until dead and then teabag me until the timer reached zero
  18. kin for sure is an involved, fast paced set which isn’t the right fit for all players wanting to play a buff set, but is certainly in the top 3 most powerful sets in the right hands people quite rightly focus on SB given how powerful it is as a quick to apply buff. teams with SB are a lot more capable than those without, even the run speed part of the buff is a helpful benefit to a team. a kin should focus on applying FS and SB, everything else is of minor importance - i say this as someone who only plays two alts over 4 years, one being a kin/sonic def
  19. up to 10 targets of 25% each (250%) + the PBAoE buff of 50% from the caster (a defender in my case) = 300% the buff is uneffected by slots, can only slot for acc, rech and end redux
  20. SB gives +50% Recharge, +Recovery and +Speed, i think it also reduces the effects of slow powers. a hugely useful buff it‘s also now a target AoE buff with a good size radius, whoever is standing near the person you cast it on will also receive the buff
  21. 2 in both at max, the difference isn’t overly noticeable thesedays. certainly wouldn’t slot it much as a defender. primary powersets far more worthwhile putting slots into
  22. i’d imagine fulcrum shift would be in the top 3. being able to give an entire team +300% damage instantly is quite noticeable i agree with seeds of confusion, definitely in the top 3 also not sure what i’d have as my final power in the top 3 - domination perhaps i disagree with the above post about hasten as it only impacts 1 player, speed boost is arguably much more powerful as it can be used quickly on an entire team a single player being buffed is far less significant than an entire team being buffed and largely unnoticeable, therefore not ‘powerful’ in my view
  23. none, use your big strong arms to defend yourself
