I had to remember if I had one here or not... I do 😉 Then I had to remember what I was doing with it... At level 42 he is currently running Conserve Power, but that's okay because I like Energy Mastery in general with Shield (Energy Torrent FTW!)... anyways in addition to that I have both Tanker ATOs in the build already, the +Defs from SP and GA (2.5 End Recovery), UGs slotted (at least two in two powers (2.5s as well), two sets of two, GotA, and for some reason Stamina at four slots, currently slotted with common IOs of various level, as is the rest of the build (I think I was planning on putting an PF +End in there and haven't yet). He's running at 8 +2 (can go to +4) and does okay with End. I am however running Hasten, so that take a bite every time it cycles. If you're running with a team you'll likely have no issues. Solo I do well enough with the toon (I really need to give him a few more sets...). For Incarnates I'll look at how things go after he hits 47. But Cardio could be in his future if I can't get Recovery or End management straightened out. So, not a lot of specifics, but you can make it work. If you Catalyze two GotA per Def set, you can get an early jump on controlling your End. You can leave them in and add other sets, or remove them once you level and respec. Hope this helps. Ymmv.

Good fun on Torch tonight. Two teams, one Manti TF (thanks for leading Trike!), and a missions team run Uni's arc (thanks for leading that PLV!). 6/17 we're on Reunion. Meet in King's Row by IP Gate at 9:30AM PDT! *** 6/20 we're back on Everlasting 6PM PDT/9PM EDT and we'll get rolling from there!

What everyone else has already said, and if you're looking at Dark Melee for the utility aspects of the sets, Rad Armor just adds to that. Two more heals (one that adds ablative HPS), Defense Debuffing, ability to slot -Resists procs, a team heal, self Damage and Resist increase power, looks cool, and color the set to match just about any theme. Could be just my bias but I think it matures a little faster than Invuln to, but don't quote me on that. I'm used to running Rad more than Invuln.

I got Mids working and I see what you're doing and it looks like a good build. Here are some thoughts and suggestions feel free to incorporate some, all, or none. You don't have another attack until level 16. That might be a problem if running lower TFs, or exemping. I'd pull one of your Taunts from Beta Decay and put it into Taunt it self. I haven't seen much use out of the chance for PSi damage in most powers, or Taunt for that matter. It does fire, but not very often (in my experience, ymmv). I'd change the BotZ to the Winter's Gift 20% Slow Resist in Fly. I'd try to get the MotTs into an early power so you can start stacking the +Resists from the proc sooner (for lower level TFs and content). For Kick, add the chance for +Recharge from Force Feedback. Pull the IA PSi Resist from Tough (only takes you down to 87.83%) and put the slot in CJ with a Defense IO from one of the sets already in there. You'll be just over 45% Melee Def w/o needing Hover Toggled on. Once the +Resist proc starts firing for MotT you'll be back over 90%. Do you need four of the Shield Breakers in IG? If not, you could recover one them for something else. Maybe add the slot to Gamma Boost and put the PT chance to heal there? I think it will fire more frequently than in EF. You could then put a damage proc in EF, or whatever works best. Replace Hover with Meltdown, you can add your PSi Resist (Aegis PSi/Status) back there if you feel it's needed.

Well, Mids is being a pain and I don't feel like dealing with it after work. I'll see if I can get it working tomorrow.

Good to have you along. My vote would be Invuln... no actually I vote would be for Rad, but go with what you want to play. 😉

I couldn't open the builds. Can you cut/paste the data block? I'm not a big fan of "Hover Tanking" but I've seen players that do it well. I'd go Combat Jumping/Super Jump for the utility it provides in combat, but each their own. I don't recall what Power Sets your running. What's your secondary?

Another great run on Excel. All said I think we had four teams. Two Hannons (Thanks for leading MsA and...Lady Grams (I think, please correct me if I'm wrong ), one Numina's (thanks for leading Shanawdithit), and a missions team. I was pretty busy with stuff tonight so no pics, but many, many, many levels. We got to meet some new TTers and had a blast. Just something to think about but what about an MSR for next month's TT on Excel. We have the numbers and with the current turnout level would not need to instance it. If that sounds good, what times/days does Excel MSR? Let me know and we can work it out. 6/13 we're on Torch. Meeting in King's Row by IP Gate at 6PM PDT/9PM EDT and we'll get rolling from there!

Melee Def of 40%, not bad try it and see what you think. 45%+ is better, but might not be worth chasing. Since you have no DDR, the Def will wash away pretty quickly and for sure in long encounters. I don't recall which, but one of the incarnate Hybrids (I think), provides some DDR and it may be worth getting that power and trying it in your build. Meltdown, yes moar damage is moar better (and capped Resists won't hurt). Pop it whenever it's up. Plus it gives you the great animation of agitated radiation "bees" circling around you and additional Recovery. IG, yes, procs still work (one is probably good, depending on what you want to achieve others would be fine). See ZemX's comment in the Rad Armor thread. Incarnates: Alpha: I like Musculature if you've got Endurance and Resists under control. You might look at Agility (it will give a few additional %'s to Def). Lore: Banish Pantheon, Carnies, or Cimerorans seem popular with Tanks (mine included). Interface: I like the HP debuff from Degenerative, although Reactive is pretty good too. Judgement: I tend to go with Ion on most of my characters, the others are fine, but I'd say only use Vorpal and Cryonic on specific builds for specific reasons. Destiny: I'd say this depends on what you need in a team and/or solo situation. Barrier is kind of the "go to" for the defensive buffing it provides, plus you can rez up to two of the teammates (if needed). I also use Ageless. Hybrid: Assault, Melee and Support, I've used all of these. Just depends on what you're looking to do for your Tank or your team.

Great fun tonight on Torch. We ran our 5th Tuesday of the month as a MSR. Fourteen Tanks vs all the Rikti in the zone, wasn't even a match. We even took out the dropship, fourteen of us!! Missions and AVs followed. Thanks to all who helped with the event, attended and contributed missions after. 6/6 we're back on Excel. Meeting in King's Row by IP Gate at 6PM PDT/9PM EDT and we'll get rolling from there!

Another fun filled TT on Indom. We had two teams, a missions team (thank you for leading MsA), and a Sutter TF team (thank you for leading ZemX). After which we ran missions and got Dreck (the ultimate herding map!). 5/30 brings us to another "5th" Tuesday. This time we'll be running it on Torch and holding an MSR! It will be instanced so you'll need to be at least level 35 to join. I might not be able to attend this one, so we'll need another TTer to be ready to run should I not be able to show up. Just remember to have the league leader enter the instance first then invite everyone else. One TT vet should stay behind in King's to coordinate the Tanks joining. After which they will be invited.

Good fun on Reunion today. Good to see everyone and welcome to the new comers. Thanks for taking the start today Stormangel and leading Hess for us. Missions after and much dinging. We'll be back here on June 17th, so see ya' then (unless we see you at a Tuesday event ;)) Looks like none of my other screenies took, but take my word for it there were many larger herds. 🙂 See ya' soon!

I dunno' a CoH Tank coming at me in this reality of the game would cause me mental harm....

You're selling Fire/Staff Tanks in the lobby? 😉 Or, you just rolled one?

We hand another fun run on Everlasting tonight. We had three teams, one Hess TF (thanks for leading PLV), and two missions teams (thanks for leading the other one MsA). My team ran AVs and radios almost got Diabolique, but couldn't get past her "runaway and regen" at level 54 w/o debuffing. Oh, well, we'll come prepared next month. Oh, also got in on a Rikti invasion, that was fun. Anot This Sat we're on Reunion at 9:30AM PDT, and next Tuesday we're back on Indom at the usual time and place. See you all in game!

Understood, just trying to go with inclusion vs exclusion for a way to understand the game.

I'm sure your post reflects your opinion on the various ATs to the tee (yours), but seriously, have you checked out Tanks since the AoE changes (not that they were lightweights before). Or have you ever stopped by a Tanker Tuesday and watch a team/league of Tanks take out AVs, GMs, TFs or Hami or an MSR? If not, you might want to. Although Tanks may not be at the other AT levels of damage, they don't suck or really come in secondary to their melee siblings...
-
Hi all, Just a reminder (mostly for myself), that next Sat we're on Reunion for Saturday version of TT! We'll meet in King's Row at 9:30AM PDT, by IP Gate. Hope to see you there!

Fun times on Torch tonight. We had two teams, first team ran Citadel (and I passed the star to PLV (thanks for leading PLV) and the MsA took the missions team who ended up running a Yin. Teams merged after and we went on Tanking. I should say that Spaghetti Betty took the star for some missions after the Citadel TF and before the teams merged, thank you for taking the lead. Next week (5/16) we're on Everlasting! See you in King's Row at 6pm PDT/9pm EDT by Independence Port Gate!

I'm currently running mine in Thunder Strike (probably not the best place...) but, I usually run it in Jacobs Ladder with Electrical Melee.

Good run on Excel tonight. We had four teams, two Ms Lib TFs and two missions teams. Thanks for running the TFs Pep and PLV, and thanks for running missions MsA and Col. 5/9 we're back on Torch! Meet in King's Row by IP gate at 6 pm PDT/9 pm EDT. See you then!

Hi all, Looks like our last "5th TT" was on Excel, so that means we'll be running an All Tanker MSR on Torch 5/30. Now... the potential bad part. I might not be able to make this one. I'll have to see how things play out. But, iirc last time we determined the Event coordinator needs to start a Raid Instance and from there invite everyone to the league. You must be at least level 35 to join the event. And we'll have one TT vet in King's Row to help coordinate the invites. We'll invite the Rep right before we kick off the raid. Other than that, same place same time, just need someone as our "alt event coordinator" (if I'm not able to make it). Any volunteers?

A good time on Indom tonight. Three teams, two Yin (thanks for leading PLV and Pep), and MsA lead the missions teams (thanks for taking the star!). ColTech even got a chance to lead a missions team for a bit, so thanks for taking the star! Oh yeah, and Pep took us through a couple of AV missions after. 5/2 we start off May back on Excel! Meet in King's Row by IP gate at 6 pm PDT/9 pm EDT. See you then!

Much fun was had on Everlasting tonight. Welcome to all who are new to Tanker Tuesdays, and welcome back to the returning attendees. We ran two ITFs (thank you for leading MsA and PLV) and a missions team. Got a couple of AVs, radios, a pretty good mix. 4/25 we're on Indom! Meet in King's Row by IP gate at 6 pm PDT/9 pm EDT. See you then!

Hi Mantid, First off, Congratz! Glad to hear it's a Tank! Next, I'd recommend getting the Tanker sets to start with. As you mentioned your funds are a bit low for a full build, you might was to look at running a lot of the Task Forces (TFs) and Trials to pick up the Task Force Commander, Atlas Medallion and Portal Jockey Badges to help with Endurance and HPs as well as merits in the process. You can use the merits to purchase your Enhancements from the Merit Vendor. Also certain arcs, giant monsters, Hamidon Raids, Mother Ship raids, and Incarnate Trials will reward you with merits, or a means to convert what you earn (in the case of Mother Ship Raids) into merits. I will mention that if Endurance is an issue, you may want to spend some merits on getting Numina's Unique (Endurance and Regen), Miracle's Unique (Regen) and Panacea's Unique (Endurance and Regen). That out of the way, the good news is that Bio is a pretty tough set. Tough and Weave will help if you solo (well, will help in general), and Stone Melee is pretty hard hitting at the upper level (Single Target attacks). Also, while you're playing your toon, they will be unlocking the various Incarnate Powers. Since you'll be a work in progress as you get drops, and earn merits, I'd look at picking up either Cardiac or Musculature for your Alpha (I'm sure others will post with their choices). I like Ion from Judgement for almost all my Tanks, although most of them are good, I'd just stay away from Vorpal on a Tank. I like Degenerative from Interface, Barrier from Destiny (while working out your build), Almost anything from Lore, although I think Banished Pantheon, Carnies, and Cimerorans work well (usually go with Banished Pantheon (I'm sure others will make additional suggestions)), and finally for Hybrid you might look at Assault, Melee or Support. Your choice of Epics is good, do that. Taunt is good. Look at the benefits of more than one slot, but in general, Perfect Zinger's chance for PSi damage is all you need. You can slot with Four Mocking Beratements for some additional Def, but you'll likely not need it (four slotting does grant some additional benefits as well). Teleport is good, take that, and take the T5 (Fold Space) power as it allows you to pull in mobs from a distance (teleport them to you). Join us at Tanker Tuesday to get more advice (shameless plug). And have fun Tanking!
