  1. How much is too much? Imagine when you started the game you were given a level 50 and all the IO's you needed? After a week you'd probably move on to a new game. Back in the "Real World" most people who win the lottery end up broke in a few years. Player base top complaints: 1. Getting to 50 2. Getting IO's for their 50 3. Wanting additional post-50 content (Picard face Palm) You have a lot of influence because you've found the game fun to play. The influence was a side benefit to the fun the game provided by doing whatever you defined to be fun. If your new definition of fun is giving away then I can't stop you. Just don't think you are helping. Even in the "Real World" no one wants charity, sure they will take it but they would rather you teach them how to fish then you give them a fish. TLDR: Anything > 0
  2. Here's the You Tube Video that got me set up back in the day.
  3. Yes. It works without Steam just not as well. I've been thinking about fiddling around with the new launcher and running it without Steam since they've added more controller functionality in 2 years...but if it isn't broke don't fix it. So my main launches the old launcher and the lacky computer launches the new launcher.
  4. Torch Every Friday@7pm EST I host a Fire And Fury Strike Force(Min Level 20).
  5. My Steam Controller works great. I have it plugged into a old USB hub so sometimes it stops recognizing. Plugging it back in does the trick.
  6. I'm based on Torch. I thought the grass would be greener for Villain Strike Force on Everlast but I was wrong. When my tokens renew I'm going to post a inactive alt on the other servers so I can que Strike Force interest without wasting a token unless people are ready. I was trying to think of a way to improve the current que system. I've never gotten the que to work for me. Maybe a que system that doesn't lock down your alt so you can do other stuff on other alts while waiting for others to show interest. Currently asking in broadcast is the only system that works for me.
  7. If you love your Scrapper then there is no need to change. It all depends on your playstyle. Do you want to stalk, then play a stalker. Do you want to scrap, then play a Scrapper. Yes you can customize etc. but it really is that simple, which play style do you find fun? Back on live Hero's were limited to Scrapper or Tank. Villains were limited to Stalker's and Brutes.
  8. The ceiling for each archetype is not the same, let's not lock out content to the Holy MMO Trinity. When the Servers went dark, changes were made to keep the game viable for a smaller population. We're a niche and there is nothing wrong with that. It's clear to me what the masses want. All you see in game chat is requests for non-challenging Architect Farms. We play the game because it is fun, everyone finds different things fun, but most people are not masochist.
  9. I can't understand why people want post-50 content. Thematically I'm now god-like there shouldn't be minions able to challenge me. If my hard work doesn't results in me reaching the top of the mountain then I might as well turn off XP and stay at level 1 forever. I enjoy the journey to 50. I though I knew everything but trying different alts and different play styles continually unlocks insights that fit my play style better and better. In theory, my level 50 build I imagine at level 1 should be nearly the same when I reach level 50. In practice it's always been radically different by the time I reach 50. New content is exhausted 5 minutes after the developers released it. I'd rather the developers NOT rejoin this Sisyphean effort.
  10. What's not to love? All of my 9 pages of Red Side alts start off breaking out of the Zig. The first breakout on live quickly set me up with the game mechanics and gave my alt a compelling back story Arc. After I became a vet and the devs gave us to option to skip, I realized skipping just wouldn't be the same. Fast Forward to Homecoming opening up, I still felt the same excitement breaking out as I did on live. The world is gray not black and white, so I never saw the allure of blue side. Back on live the blue side was always complaining about EVERYTHING. Real life called, so I missed when blue side finally got our Archtypes (Brutes and MM's). What did we get (Blasters?) Anyway, with Homecoming I finally stepped into Blue Side in order to grab a Kheldian and bring him Red Side. They are challenging but it was easy to see why Blue Side just doesn't get them. Not everyone has the perseverance and imagination to be Thanos (Red Side). Most need a team of Super Friends telling them what to do.
  11. The game isn't going anywhere. Enjoy the artwork and story line the developers put into every level. Not one of my 9 pages of alts has made it to 50 and they all get played regularly. I'm on Torch and host the Fire and Flame Strike Force weekly.
  12. Maybe there we less people online Friday due to the Holidays. Couldn't grab any pick-up interest so I decided to at least try with my lacky. It was interesting to finally have the time to follow the story and try different tactics. Shiva's were needed for the boss fight difficulties below: 1. 3 amigos (Montague Castanella, Mercedes Sheldon,Exorcist; resisted pulling) 2. Numina->Infernal 3. Posi Next time (assuming no Friday Night Interest) I'll try Posi without Shiva.

  14. I host the "Fire and Flame" weekly Friday@7pm EST on the Torchbearer Server. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Mortimer_Kal_Strike_Force Any interest on the other Servers? You could visit Torch or I could visit your Server. Currently it's been pick-up groups without any signups on the message boards. Eventually my 9 pages of Villain Alts, will slowly approach the level requirements for "The Crystal of Serafina" and "Lord Recluse's Strike Force"
  15. 2nd run. Had fun. More alts to run through this Strike Force.
  16. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Mortimer_Kal_Strike_Force I'm going to run this weekly Friday Night@7pm EST.
  17. First time I tried blue was to create a Warshade and Null the Gull him Red. Blue side is too bright. Felt good to be back on the Red Side, 5 minutes Blue Side is 5 minutes too long.
  18. My solution has to run my villains with a lacky. I worry about when my alts get up to RSF level and finding a team to run the Strike Force, but lower level teams haven't been a problem. At worse instead of getting a team that day I'll probably have to advertise on the boards a week in advance or change Server then change back.
  19. Thanks. Since the update button worked in the past, haven't kept up with the new versions since if it ain't broke don't fix it. After the corruption, took a look at the new one and decided I prefer the old version. That means I won't get any new updates. So far the only minor issue is my version having TP friend instead of the new TP anything, which isn't to hard to flip in the back of the head. Could be a coincidence, but I just noticed that my Desktop Tequila shortcut was deleted. Found the file and made a new Desktop shortcut. Eventually I'll download the new launcher, just waiting a few months for everyone else to sort out all the bugs.
  20. Clicked Update and it crashed and corrupted Mids so that it wouldn't run any more. Temporary solution uninstall and reinstall. I have a older version 2.7.2.10 and was able to update in the past with no problems. Downloaded the current version and it updates just fine. However if I try to update the old version it crashes and corrupts Mids again.
  21. You're correct about Unrelenting, it's too short. I was considering it because of it cancels the end crash on Unleash Potential. That brings me back to Adrenal Booster which includes useful powers like corrosive vial and speed of sound.
  22. Thanks for the replies. Yes, Perma Dom is more complicated than one number, it's a differential equation. However, simplifying it lets you play with other builds and at the end of the day field testing > paper performance. With that said: Hasten= 70 Adrenal= 28* Unrelenting= 20* Yes, because of power recharges etc. the numbers for Adrenal and Unrelenting aren't EXACTLY the same as Hasten's number. It will put me in the ball park to field test, the give and take, to decide whether I am giving up too much or gaining more.
  23. I was wondering how much recharge you need with adrenal booster for Permanent Domination? For example with hasten you need to slot 70. Or if you slotted them both what would your under 70 number be?
  24. Agreed. I remember reading a while back that it was better to buy then craft your sets. But it took a while for it to hit me that all those sets I had sitting in my SG bins were costing me money (and time). A side benefit to reducing my market time is that my market time is now more profitable with less effort. 1. My alt army had recipes stored on them. That needed to change. Profitable recipes were sold Unprofitable recipes went to the recycled bin. 2. After that it was easy to clear out my bins. Now everything moves very easy and quickly. Low bids are locked in early for the young alts. "High" bids are quickly set for new recipes. The end result is that everything moves quickly and I spend less time in the market and more time playing. Just like real life, inventory cost you money, so you always want things moving.
  25. When PlanetSide was first released, you started in safe zone. First this allows you to familiarize yourself with the interface. Second you can familiarize yourself with the map, destinations such as cert training and war zone options. When you were ready you could decide how and where to enter the war zone; air drop, walking, this spot or that spot. Progression. COV also does this with "Breakout" P2 just dropped me in the middle of the action, still the same grunt I left after the nerfs. While participating in massive battles is appealing, the pen is mightier than the sword. In the original I quickly saw how I could get the mindless (zerg) grunts who just want to pew pew to do my bidding. I saw Vehicles as tools to accomplish objectives, secondarily they could kill people too. But I gotta admit I was one hell of a Mag-mower pilot. Planetside had a grief systems whereby if you killed too many friendlies you would progressively be locked out of combat. The Vanu Sovereignty Tank was fast. On open fields, Instead of shooting the enemy you could more quickly run then over (kill). If you weren't skilled the grief system would quickly lock you out of combat due to accidentally running over friendlies along with the enemy. One memorable time I killed a enemy right next to a half-dead friendly, stopped adjacent to him and chatted to him to hop in the rear tank gun.
