  1. And finally, here's another random costume that I "smoothed out." I think all I did was change one boot to match the other, *maybe* change the gloves to match and finally remove the shoulder pieces completely. This is a Mind Control/Thermal Radiation Controller. She's a mutant so I was thinking maybe a helmet would work well. Although not necessarily *this* helmet! Lol! Mutie Controller.costume
  2. I'm just going to take a chance and request this. Will a temp power be added please that works exactly like the exp booster, except in reverse? So basically the booster will turn off your exp rewards and double your inf rewards.
  3. And this Broad Sword/Shield Defence Scrapper toon could use some tuning, I guess? Hair and skin colors? Believe it or not, this was also originally random and I "smoothed it out" a little. But sometimes I desynchronize the colors a wee bit too late. I was thinking of a tragic good girl or a crazed bad girl color scheme? The Labeaux 1 (that sounds so dirty!) doesn't match the texture of the sleeves. It's easy to see while in the costume editor. boobies.costume
  4. I usually try random costumes when I'm creating a toon. I'll cycle through a few to get some inspiration. This costume came up. I made it symmetrical because some of the pieces mismatched the left and right. It looks like an interesting idea for a magic toon so if anyone wants it....? There's even the tarot card aura! Just don't forget that it has a shield before you try to install it. The tailor will probably give you a "fixit" button to integrate the costume into your build (assuming your build has no shield.) Anyway, despite how much I thought that this looks cool, it doesn't really fit my picture of a Science origin Electric/Shield Stalker. Anyone have any ideas? I *do* like the face. Are there any "normal" faces that are shaped similarly? Also maybe a suit that taps the cold fusion in the Impervium shield to produce electric melee attacks? Might be a metallic Impervium-fiber suit, too...? Elect Shield.costume
  5. The Hasten power (in the Speed Pool power) will provide the glow on the arms temporarily. Not sure about flowers in the hair. I know it's in the Leaves hair but don't remember seeing it elsewhere. The Sybil outfit might work for the costume. The eyes might be possible with an Aura effect. I did it on an ice toon I have. Just change the color and I bet it would look like flaming eyes with sparks flying off. The belt looks like skulls? CoH has something for that. Alternately for the arms and even abdomen you might try playing around with tattoos and cybernetic tattoos. Post a screenshot!
  6. The trial has been modified this year. And I'm getting a *lot* of players telling me they've never done it before or haven't done it recently enough to remember anything. No worries! There are two badges you can earn from this trial. Both badges will appear in your Events badge list: 1) Lord/Lady of Winter (for completing the trial) 2) Icebreaker (defeat Lord Winter without allowing his Winter Essence to reach 100%) Start and setup Minimum level to join is 10. Minimum level to start one is ?? I never play below lvl 50 so I don't know. Pick a co-op zone that's easy to access. People will usually choose Pocket D or Ouroborous. The optimal number of people is 16 (two teams.) Which is also the max you can bring (another change from last year!) Less than that will be more challenging but it can be done with the "right" players. Minimum of 8. The trial is located in your LFG window (not the chat channel.) Click LFG at the top of your chat window and select the "Holiday" tab. Lord Winter's Trial will be in that list. Initial landing When you first arrive in the trial, your league roster will be scattered to the four winds! Get that star back to the league leader so that they can fix the teams! You remember who the league leader is, right? Heh... Gameplay When you arrive you'll see six crystal waypoints on your map. When you select a crystal, the icon in your Nav window is a bit hard to see. Each of these crystals is surrounded by mobs. You have to defeat a certain number of mobs to summon Lord Winter. Don't worry about that though. Just clear the mobs around the crystals. And keep them clear! When enemies get near the crystals, Lord Winter's "Winter Essence" will increase. You'll see it in the pop-up window after Lord Winter spawns. The "plot twist!" The Guardians will spawn when Lord Winter's hps are reduced to 74%, 49% and 24% (just like before.) They have names like "Corporeal Guardian," "Ethereal Guardian," etc. When a Guardian spawns it will boost the Winter Essence score by FIFTY percent! So keep that in mind! Strategies While stumbling through my first steps at running these I happened upon an experienced player (Awesomeness! thanks!) who suggested that the Tankers/taunters be on team 1 and stay on Lord Winter. Team 2 could have your dps players (Blasters, etc.) This allows team 2 to quickly clear crystal mobs and keep that Winter Essence score down while everyone else focuses on Lord Winter. Once the Guardian appears, try to focus as much power as you can spare on quickly defeating it. Keep in mind that 1) The Winter Essence is already out of control and 2) Lord Winter doesn't like being lonely. Basically, your taunters taunt Lord Winter and keep him occupied while most of team 2 continues to clear crystal mobs and everyone else dogpiles the Guardian. On paper, that is! Heh... Conclusion This trial is a bit harder than before but nothing a good team that reads the chat can't handle! :-)
  7. What about when the toon is afflicted with "Let It Snow?"
  8. I tried people's suggestions. I'm sure it was everything or nearly everything presented here. Everything was too clunky. Because *I* was too clunky. I needed a repeatable system. Something I could practice often with and on demand. I created a second build. /selectbuild 2 /respec I virtually ignored the other powers, simply treating *everything* as filler... ...except! Hover, Fly and Evasive Maneuvers. I started at 4th level and had them all six slotted a few levels later. The rest I just clicked in order to click "next" until I was out. I ended up using only two of the slots in each power because I was impatient to try it. It was probably two Fly IOs apiece. Then I simply practiced. I learned the route. I found the corners I could cut. I found the places Fly could quickly and easily navigate around instead of through. Etc. I managed to get Gold where needed after a suitable amount of practice. The speed and control I had with those three powers was... Glorious! Yay! The build is still there and I only returned to it to scavage the IOs.
  9. I've always pronounced it "shal-AY" although I don't actually pronounce it with that much emphasis. AI told me that this is the American pronunciation. It said that it's different from the British pronunciation of "SHAL-ay." Here's some chalet trivia: This term refers to a type of wooden house, typically associated with the Alpine region in Europe, characterized by a heavy, gently sloping roof and wide, overhanging eaves set at right angles to the front of the house. Strangely, when I used the $loc feature in front of the entrance to the Ski Chalet in Pocket D, the coordinates returned were glitched. I mean, I /thumbtack'd the $loc to make sure it was right. And it never was even close no matter how I twerked to tweak it. The wiki uses this description of the entrance and it's as good as any to help a player find it: The entrance to the Chalet is a small door found in a rocky outcropping located in the upstairs of the Villain side of Pocket D. The outcropping is easily recognized by the snowdrifts and evergreen trees surrounding it. I bring this up because I've seen an increased interest in accessing it. New and returning players might not have been informed that the Ski Chalet is open all the time, all the year. This is a Homecoming thing, I think? To badge the ski slopes, I had to CHEAT LIKE CRAZY!!!!! I created a second build for my toon with Hover/Fly/Evasive Manuevers. I gave them all six slots and diversely slotted them. I probably didn't use more than three slots of each power. I didn't even bother slotting anything else. I practiced the slopes many times finding the places I could skip corners, go over, duck, etc. All with Hover/Fly/EM burning *hot!* I'm certain I didn't break any records. But I got all of the badges, baby! Further info: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Ski_Chalet
  10. Apologies if I confuse Winter Lord and Lord Winter. I know that these are two separate enemies. As an alternative to only allowing the Winter Lord to spawn once per hour when opening packages... Why not change it so that the merit reward only drops once per hour? This produces precisely the same results. Then you can turn off the time limit for the Winter Lord spawn entirely and allow us badgers to badge ungrieved.
  11. Estimated thirty zones with packages. One hour cooldown between Suspicious Gifts. Flocks of grievers. What could go wrong?
  12. Heh... "All" three?
  13. For toons that already have the "Toy Collector" badge can a temporary buff be added that bumps the chances of a "Suspicious Package" spawning (once?) I'm starting to realize that my older toons just might have to re-earn the "Toy Collector" badge before being able to spawn a "Suspicious Package." Edit: Yeah, this is absolutely no fun at all. I've covered an entire map (literally; the entire map) three times without missing more than two presents total. Some random players had grabbed them. I'm well on my way to earning the "Toy Collector" badge all over again. Edit: Fourth completion and I found a Suspicious Gift as the last one taken on the route. I was looking forward to having the Winter Event off like the Halloween Event. That way my old toons could just sit it out while I badged my newer toons. But now I'm going to spend the month updating my old toons.
  14. I only do MSR for the badges. After the first time with getting the Vanguard Butt Pack (I forget the name,) badges are all that's left for me.
  15. Badger, much? I recognize the symptoms! Lol!
  16. Seconded! Blapperella has done the Sister Psyche TF (Clamor and Destruction, blueside, lvl 25-30) at least twice! They know what they're doing!
  17. Is there a "list of procs" on the wiki? The wiki talks about them a lot but I can't find a "Here is a list of all available procs and *only* procs in Homecoming." Also, I don't play lowbie toons. So all of my procs are level 50 or as close as I can get to it. But I *do* play lowbie content. So my level goes up and down periodically. Should I use a catalyst on my procs? I've heard both ways. I'd like to see it on the wiki if anyone knows. Procs can't be boosted, correct? People seemed pretty clear on that. Personal experience reinforces that. I'm just asking in case there are exceptions (since there are nearly *always* exceptions.)
  18. So these are the only pants I can find that can reasonably allow freedom of the tail. Any ideas?
  19. Is it possible to cause a zone event to occur in all instances of a zone? Just Banners, specifically. So when a player sees "Supernatural Activity detected in Peregrine Island" they don't have to guess which one. Any of them with a league that does Banners would be enough.

  20. What about a Seismic Blast/Nature Affinity Corruptor? An alien woman sent to use her powers to scout for terraformable planets who eventually becomes stranded on Earth? Ok, so I started with Metal Woman 2. Then added some Blast Goggles with the lenses matched. And I left the physical dimensions all at the halfway mark as defined in the original file. Maybe the color to give that nature affinity? Maybe a blood-red color, even? Clearly, the terraforming division of the Space Corp spared every expense in designing and materials when making her ecosuit!
  21. That's perfect! Thanks! I was trying to think of something like that but had no idea where to begin! What about a state-issued costume?
  22. Thanks, guys! I incorporated both costumes in my toon! Much appreciated! What about a Russian girl Blaster with Seismic Blast and Ice Manipulation. Where would I even start on a costume?! This costume I got on random, I think? I tweaked it very slightly from the original. boobies.costume
  23. So I've been trying to figure out why I sometimes get the "Treat!" notification along with the sound effect... But no treat. People in the Help channel offered some good ideas but I couldn't quite nail it down. 1) It's not an enhancement because it happened on a toon that had no enhs before or after the notification. 2) It's not salvage of any kind (that I've been able to determine.) 3) It's not inspirations because I don't see anything new when I get it. Someone mentioned that I might be getting it for the tip mish but already had it in my Contact window. I hadn't thought of that. Since then I *have* noticed a correlation. Not ready to be dogmatic about it yet. Edit: I just got the "empty treat" notification and don't have a tip mish.
  24. You can use any costume at all for any and all Halloween event content from what I've heard and experienced. My experiment last year was with the Photosynthesis hologram from Benevolabs. It got me the tip.
  25. Looks like a new "fix" will be in the works soon.
