  1. Same with mystic flight and the power drops during SBB, trials, &etc. It's annoying that a whole tray pops up, though I suspect it's because people may have full trays and not see/have easy access to the "new" whatever (tp, acid, invis, crowd cheer, etc.). It would be nice if there were a way to do it without messing up our UI (I keep stuff like insp just above my trays, too, though I guess I could move them up to make room . . . which would be so much easier if extra trays were resizable. <that sound you hear is the last of my deceased equine thwapping> :P).
  2. I appreciate all the everything! Especially this. I can finally read stuff from contacts, etc. without squinting like crazy. The only thing left that I would seriously love to see is a way to scale the extra power trays like we can the first three. I like to have extra trays up for all my stuffs, but with my eyesight these days (ugh), they are immense compared to the trays we can resize (I have mine pretty small since I don't have to read them). Extra trays don't need to be huge because that text is comfortably readable when you hover over it. There doesn't seem to be a way to /windowscale resize them, even individually. I'd be happy to do it for each extra tray if I had to. Anyway, just a wish list. I'm so incredibly grateful that we have our City back that I almost feel awful asking for more!
  3. Oh, this! I have a couple of winged toons that I use a costume slot to de-wing them for cramped maps.
  4. It depends on the toon, but on my main, I have the blueside/redside costumes, a swim suit (for swimming with sharks and other watersports like "surfing" on my hoverboard), a Halloween costume, a "holiday" and a winter costume, a "legacy" costumes (she was my first toon on live so her first costume was pretty awful, but I love it for nostalgia's sake) and a couple that are just different because I play her a lot and sometimes want something new to look at. Heh. I don't usually do risque costumes (nothing against them, I don't mind them on other people's toons and have seen some awesome ones; it's just not me), BUT I did do one that was rather . . . unclothed on a robot MM. As it turned out, I was going to be running with someone who had his/her kids playing, and I felt that it would be best if I had a family-friendly costume for her. So off I went to get that 'bot some clothes on. On alts, I rarely have more than one or two costumes unless I play them a lot and decide they need a new look for some reason.
  5. Aw, too bad, @subbacultchasBut I understand. Family first! :) We'll be setting the next time when we all meet up on Thursday, so I will post it here for anyone who misses this week. Unless there is strong resistance to picking a day other than Thursday, I would like to move it so that @Shoulungcan join us. We ran on Saturdays on Freedom, but I work weekends, so it would have to be sometime in the late afternoon/early evening (EST) on Saturdays if that's how it pans out. I do want to set a regular day/time, though, as that is much easier for people to find us if they miss a week. To that end, too, if someone wants to create an sg for the group on Excelsior that would also help us get and stay connected for the weekly plant troll festivities. If not, no worries, we can use the forum and ingame chat/email/messages.
  6. It's not clear from your message what problem you are encountering, but try the Getting Started threads for help: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/53-getting-started/
  7. Maybe we can change the day/time after this week since this is just the first meetup. We'll have to see how many can make it and what everyone's schedule looks like.
  8. Jungle Rott and Fetid Compost!!! I remember those toons :) This is awesome. I can't wait to see what you come up with for Thursday. Sounds like Fetid Compost is waiting to reroll if you need him. Hehe
  9. This all sounds great! Gratz on your new 50 @Without_Pause! I'm up for an ice control team @oedipus_texWhat server are you on? I'll make one there if I don't have one already. In the meantime, it looks like we have enough interest in an all plant troller team to get started. Let's plan our first meetup of the all plant troller team for this Thursday at 9:30 EST on Excelsior since we already have people who made new plant trolls there. We can meet in AP; if you're running late, no worries, shoot me or @StridingWind an in-game and you can join up with us after we get going. It sounds like there is interest in leveling up together, doing the TFC task forces, etc. Note: you do not have to make a new toon for this; if you have a plant troll of any lvl and want to run with an all plant troll team, you are welcome! @Zepfeel free to make a plant/storm if you're feeling all stormy (or whatever, secondaries can be whatever)! @subbacultchasdoes this time frame/server work for you? Hope to see you all--and anyone else who sees this and wants to join the plant troll fun--in Excelsior AP on Thursday evening!! I'll be the green clad troll standing ready to greet shiny new plant trolls as they arrive from the Outbreak or Galaxy City tutorials. Anyone arriving from other zones, servers can meet up there.
  10. So this is great! We have half a team, maybe five. Let's talk days/times. I'm in Central time and work weekend days (ahem, at work now), but I am up for weekend evenings or most any weekday evening. If we have a set time for our group, I can schedule it in and be there. What days/times works for you guys?
  11. That sounds awesome! I really love the idea of all whatever power troll teams and had such a blast on the plant troll team.
  12. Yay, that's four (maybe five if my sg mate is game) for plant. I say go ahead and make a plant on Excelsior @StridingWindand hopefully we can this off the ground in the next week or so. You can message me here or in game (my global is the same as my forum). We can maybe alternate weeks with Storm or something once we get our numbers . . . or maybe someone can get together a storm team, I'd be game for sure.
  13. Awesome! So that's three (maybe four with my sg mate). That sounds fun! I never seem to stick with Storm, so a weekly group would be just the ticket!
  14. I don't get the confusion over this. It's really pretty simple: don't rip off/steal other people's work. If you've created an homage to or a satiric take on someone else's work, that is not ripping off/stealing that work. If you are unsure whether or not you have created an homage or a satire, then you probably haven't (and maybe even know it?). Excluding the waste of time and space on discussing use of the name "Thor" (a figure from mythology that far predates both IP concerns and Marvel), the rest of the examples tossed out answer themselves. Is my exact replica of [insert known character] a problem? The answer is yes. What if it's not exact because what I needed to make my exact replica wasn't available in costume creator, but I got it as close as possible with what we have? Still yes. What if I change "Superman" to Supa Man? Still yes. What if I call him Klark Cent? Still yes. Even if he's in his Superman outfit? Yes. Always yes. (maybe especially if he's in his Superman outfit and not that of mild-mannered Clark Kent). What if I make him a her and she's not faster than a speeding bullet, can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, and is an emp/dark defender? Well, no, that's not a problem because it's not freaking Superman (nor would it be Super Girl come to think of it). What if my Klark Cent doesn't wear glasses and is a plant sentinel with leaves for hair, boots, and gloves? Then no, obviously, you've just used the name on a plant troll for your own (and others') amusement. (though Clark Sent might be better, but you get my drift) I think the "fix" here is to figure out what satire is and what homages (and puns) are and then ensure you are firmly in that territory. If you are not sure, then fix it yourself until you are sure. When in doubt, don't.
  15. I wasn't planning on running it myself, but I also have a plant troll on Excelsior, so if we can round up five or six more, we're in business! I say five because I can probably talk one of my sg mates into it since he used to run with the old group on Freedom(?), too. I'm not sure if he has a plant troll already or not, so he may need to roll one if he's up for doing that again (I haven't asked yet). That said, I have lvl 2 ice and earth trolls on some server/s (not Excelsior) that I created on a whim and that are currently just sitting around waiting to be moved to new Day Jobs every several days. I can move them to any server there's a group, and I am totally open to making a new troll for this adventure if there's adventure to be had. Heck, if there's more than one group, I'd be in. :P
  16. I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but back in the day, there was an all Plant Control team that used to run once a week on (I think) Freedom. It was a complete blast to run with seven other plant trolls, all with varying secondaries. I forget who started it up, and since I didn't play on Freedom(?), I had to start a new plant troll to run with the group. It was completely amazing fun, and every once in a while, we'd all pose for screen shots (which I subsequently lost in a computer crash years ago). I don't think there was a rule that we all have green in our costumes, but I seem to recall that we all did. And we were beautiful, all greens and auras and flytraps galore. There was something perversely wonderful about an all plant troll team. As we gained levels, we plowed through missions like crazy. We didn't need healers/defenders (we had plenty of heals and buffs of our own), and we didn't need tankers/brutes (we managed mobs and aggro just fine). It was just different and super fun. Is something like this going on now? I've looked through the server forums from time to time but haven't seen anything, so I thought I'd ask here. If anyone is doing something like this, please let us all know so we can join up and run with you. I play mostly on Excelsior, but I'll make a troll on any server to run with an all [plant, earth, fire, ill, whatever] troll team. [UPDATE: The all plant controller team will meet in Atlas Park on Thursday, October 3 [2019] at 9:30 p.m. EST on Excelsior. All plant trolls of any level from any server are welcome.] [UPDATE 2: Moving forward, the all plant controller (and dom) team will meet on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on Excelsior. No worries if you are running late (unless we are in a TF of course). If you are just joining us, you can send an ingame to me @Tahliah or to our Parks and Wreck sg leader @GreenAx. UPDATE 3: I changed the title of the thread since we have a great weekly team and plant-based sg up and running. Any planters out there, trolls or doms, are welcome to join us!] UPDATE 4: We have a second Troll (and dom!) night, this one for under-50s starting on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at 9 p.m. EST on Excelsior. We are still running on Tuesdays, but all of us hit 50 and are looking toward incarnates. So we have a second night for those who want to run with an all-plant troll (and dom) team but are not yet incarnate. UPDATE 5: We have a Parks and Wreck chat channel, so be sure to join it if you are interested in joining our plant troll (and dom) adventures. To join our chat channel, go to your tabs menu and select join a channel, then type in Parks and Wreck, then click "join." That's it, easy peasy!
  17. I'm so laughing right now. I have long loved the idea of a Clown MM, but the pie in the face thing is too fabulous for words! Toxic pies and balloons filled not with helium but with hydrogen (or acid or . . . ). Sonic honking horns (though I am a bit worried about the sound effects being right up there with howling t2 demons, but I can tune that stuff out and do when I play my demon MMs). And big floppy foot-stomping feet that shake the earth. And all evil clowns need knives or machetes. Of course. (I haven't followed the Clown mm discussion at all and have no idea if it's even possible to do something so extravagant . . . so I'm just chatting imaginatively here) Clones would be good, too. An army of me and all that.
  18. Yay! I am so excited I could spit. Every Halloween for seven years, I've missed COH (well, all other times, too, but mostly around the holidays for events because they brought back all my old friends who drifted off in between events and 2xp weekends, etc.). Hardly any are back now, or if they are, I haven't run into them, but ToT is so fun. I used to love the Coralax "costume" (/transformation) the best for some reason. Something about it just made me smile. Also, spooky ghosts popping up wherever sounds shiny.
  19. Thank you so much, Dacy! And also Votiga! These videos are incredibly helpful, and now I am inspired to get more serious about my base. The tips and tricks in the videos I've watched so far (I haven't watched them all YET) are invaluable. It took me almost two hours to build a simple bridge over a river, so I wish I'd had these. At least now I have a more clear idea about how to do "simple" stuff like that. And I know how to fix the still "off" bits of my bridge, too, since I was working with the wrong grid size (among other dumb things I was trying). Again, thank you so much! I want to say, too, that I appreciate your style of presenting things, Dacy. It's accessible even to those of us who are not at all techy but really want to build bases we love.
  20. This looks great! I'm going to check it out asap. Nice work.
  21. Interesting question! It kind of depends on what I'm playing at the time. On a leveling blaster, I love to see a kin; on a defender, I like to see an emp (if they are using their buffs on squishies); on a troll, I like to see either of those or a rad. I don't play melee toons, but I imagine that I would love to see a rad, kin, or dark in those cases. As an aside, I've been running into a lot of kins lately that are slapping down SB after the mishes rather than in them. I get wanting to speed up team travel between missions, but what about IN the actual mission where SB does more than simply add travel speed? It's really been weird to see this happen so frequently with different kins (not just defs, also trolls, etc.). I'm never sure if I should say something. I don't want to rain on their game, but I do seriously wonder if they "get" the power's power. Sigh. I say nothing, of course, but I don't see the point of teaming with kins who think SB is only useful between missions.
  22. A lot of us give inf to new players for nothing, and that is not the problem. TPTB can (presumably) see in our chats that we are responding to someone in Help who is freaked out that they can't afford to buy enh for their toons, for example, and can see us send tells saying we're happy to help out and asking where they are so we can go give them a little starter boost of inf. This has been going on since forever on COH/X, and anyone starting out who, like myself, once received a welcome few million from a kind stranger is happy to pay it forward when the opportunity arises. That's not real world trading; that's just being a good City-zen. :P
  23. I am so pathetically excited that I have already created both my Halloween and my Holiday costumes in anticipation! I can't wait for ToT!!! Thinking about the presents and Baby New Year makes me a bit giddy, so I am trying to tame it by focusing on ToT. For now. :P
  24. COH is fun to me because we can do anything at any time. Feel like running missions? Radios? TFs? soloing some ouro stuff? Joining raids, Hami, or hunting GMs? Go for it. Feel like badging some exploration or history badges? Or badging some kills? Cool beans, you're on. Feel like base-building and chilling with your fabulous base creations? Homecoming is the place to be (not that I've been on any of the others, but you know what I mean). I may not always feel like I want to try to fit into a new pug, so I might just decide to solo some Ouro mishes or add another detail to my base or just zoom around on my hover board. Because awesome. Sometimes, a great name comes to me, so I have to create that alt that minute. And I do. I can spend hours just creating a new look for my new toon (who may languish at lvl 2 for days or weeks or months after that initial "alt rush"). There are so many options, so many things to do that COH is never boring to me. It's one of the things I found hard to get past with all the games I tried after COX shuttered. I got bored by most within hours, others up to a year, but I always got bored with them eventually. I never got bored with our City of possibilities. As to teams, I love teams that engage in banter and that are laid back and having a great time. I'm not a fan of cranking up the diff unless a team can handle it. I just find team wipes in every single mish unfun. There is no challenge in an entire team face-planting every two minutes. It's easy to do. Anyone can do it. Too many teams choose this these days. I don't get it and bail as soon as possible when I see that's the apparent goal. Just advertise those as damage badge runs, maybe people would stick around? Heh. Otherwise, I'm happy on most teams, but I do enjoy some fun chatter. I don't discord because it screws up my game on my laptop, but I like the old-fashioned typing chatter in Chat. Teams that run well but that don't treat it like a serious life or death situation (i.e. no shouting, no whinging, no whining). It's a game, it's fun, it's not the actual Battle of Thermopylae, so we can chill and enjoy the hunt. Those are the teams I like best and tend to stick with the longest.
  25. And it's amazing how much comes back even after all this time! I was amazed to find muscle memory going for keys that I hadn't even bound yet or sudden memories of missions and maps that I thought I had no memory of until I saw them again. And the music! It all comes flooding back and what doesn't is readily available via the forums or Help [chat] in-game.
