  1. Same. I can't get past that screaming, screeching noise to find out if I even like the powerset.
  2. Welcome home! I remade my main from live as my first toon, so I guess I would recommend doing that. The main thing is you're back in our City and . . . yay!
  3. So gorgeous, ShardWarrior. You are a wonder ❤️ I've added this to my select group of Excelsior sg base macros. Thanks for all you do.
  4. It's a pretty old (like five years!) HP 17" laptop. It runs Windows 10 (which I hate). I tried running on Homecoming, but it was super duper laggy and would boot me out when I switched zones, so I switched to 64-bit, which is way better but often still laggy. It doesn't boot me out, so I consider that a big plus. :) Thank you so much for your kindness in helping me. I'm not sure it's my laptop, though, since all was well until the latest update. I trust it will be addressed in future updates, though, so I'm not really worried about it right now. (I'm just so happy to be back in our City!!)
  5. Bwahaha! It happens, and that's the fun of it. I have this on my beast mm, and I love it when I turn into a monkey (of course, I don't hit it mid-fight or . . . um, mid-air ). Sadly, I've only rolled the monkey twice (and this is after zillions of times using the power).
  6. My main on live was an ice/ice/ice blaster, and the first toon I created on HC was an ice/ice blaster (who picked up /ice later. Of course.). She's the same but totally different because she now has the Frigid Protection (the most amazing piece of blaster love devs ever conceived) and is more finely tuned. By this I mean that I was scattered back in the day, trying to boost survival AND trying to max damage. So I ended up with neither good survivability OR good (for an incarnate blaster) dps. For me, this time, I had to choose, and I chose damage, which meant set focus on damage, acc, and recharge. I didn't neglect survivablilty, I just didn't make it my plan. I am playing with it in a second build, however. This toon FEELS incarnate, she feels special and strong. She also still dies like any blaster. Sigh. But that's what makes her special. Or something. I couldn't be more pleased with my "new" Ice Ice Baby; driving her just feels right, and I have exactly what I want. She has mad debuffs, holds, slows, sleeps, and she still has absolutely insane damage. So happy. :D
  7. Another how do we get people who are attracted to a (fundamentally) superhero game to suddenly want to play villains thread. Sigh. I get that redside wants players, and I totally sympathize. Sure, "nudging" people to visit Null the Gull is fine as a suggestion, but (for example) I already know about Null the Gull and still (stubbornly) insist on playing blueside. There's little that would tempt me to take my blue toons red, but there are some reasons, at least for my main, to do so (and she will . . . eventually): badges, lvl 50 redside content is pretty awesome, and badges. AND double merits for both the blue and redside weekly strike forces. Someone asked if you got double for both strikes in Help the other day, and I realized that I would hop over to Null lickety split if I were going to get double merits on that strike, in addition to the blue strike. That said, it wouldn't help populate redside since I wouldn't stay there except to run the strike, but it's something that I know would lure me over (if only for a single SF a week), so I thought I would mention it.
  8. I'm just a normal person, and I have no idea what you are asking me :( Like many people who play games, I am not a techie, and I have no idea what most of you are talking about most of the time (but I do try to learn). I do know that I am not running COH Homecoming on anything approaching a monster computer. I just noticed that the lag is bad. I don't have the graphics maxed because I know I can't run them on this lappie, but I really can't address your question about anti-aliasing since I have no idea what that is. Like most people, I just know lag and rubber-banding when I experience it; I don't fiddle with graphics settings (since I have no idea what most of it means, but I do know Ultra won't work on my laptop so don't run it). This is kind of like the cockroach/mouse/rat thing: if you see one, there are (definitely) many more. If I'm experiencing lag in every zone that feels and looks and acts like lag in a packed AP, then many others are, too. It's probably not our fault since it wasn't happening before and most of us are just humming along not messing with settings and stuff (since we wouldn't know what to mess with anyway).
  9. Yes, much increased lag. Every zone has become like a loaded AP, and it's ungood. I don't run Ultra mode on my laptop, so I'm not sure what I can do to fix it.
  10. Perfect! I'll be perched here then and hope that my fingers are faster than others. :P
  11. Okay, I'm ready for the next donations-open window. Yeah, I'm early, but it seems that if you aren't alert, you don't get to contribute! I really want to show my love and appreciation for the amazing work being done by the Homecoming team of heroes. (perched here for the next donations announcements . . . well, mostly, except for sleeping and working and eating and running my toons.)
  12. This was one of, if not the, first bases I ever visited on HC, and I absolutely adore it! It's not only absolutely gorgeous but is truly functional and visitor-friendly. I have a macro for it in my main travel tray (even though I have a small functional base on Torchbearer and don't NEED the porters in TBCB :P). How did you get the walls and grass to not flicker? I have a horrible time with flickering grass in my base and can't seem to fix it without leaving gaps between the grass sections, which looks awful so I went with the flickering. Forget walls, they are all aflicker and it really bugs me when I'm swimming in my walled shark pool. Heh.
  13. I was there yesterday, and I was blown away. It's an absolutely perfect medieval castle. It has everything, a camp for the knights, a high council room for the king's court in the keep, a moat, drawbridges, detailed grounds, ship access, it's absolutely stunning. I talked one of my friends into making a toon on Torchbearer (we're on Excelsior mostly) just to visit this base; we both love anything medievaly so there wasn't much "talking into" involved. He'll go see it tonight or this weekend. Awesome work, KingofMonkeys!
  14. I visited it yesterday, sykoholic, and it's lovely! I am so impressed with all the work you've put into it and how great it looks (while still being clearly functional for new sg members, etc.). Great work!
  15. This makes perfect sense to me, and I am SO HAPPY at the implication that the existing Base TP powers will be tweaked (hopefully to address the downtime, if not the interrupt too much since it's necessary to have some interrupt on it to avoid people using it to avoid dying in missions--personally, I'd kick anyone on my team who did that, but I haven't seen it happen yet. I don't PVP, so can't speak to that.). In the meantime, I'll definitely enjoy it while it lasts! I have some of my favorite forum sgs on macro, too, so I'll be loving my easy visits to them while I can, too. Remembering all those base codes is not something my brain does well, so maybe I'll make a handy list of my absolute faves (or just keep the macros for easy reference at the base portals on the map). Sorry, thinking out loud here. tl;dr: Thanks for not immediately disabling it, Leandro! And especially thanks for working on fixes for the existing Base TP powers, which don't seem like they need a downtime at all (we all have access to all the porters for our base now, so there's no unfair advantage to the "big" sgs like back on live. Unless I'm missing something?)
  16. I've been having a blast (heh) visiting all of the amazing bases that people have shared in the show off and base codes threads, and I would love to be able to let them know I was there. A guestbook of some kind would be marvelous; we can sign in that we've been there (ideally even leave a brief note of joy and support, though I suppose this latter could be abused by the less than joyful and supportive). I'm not sure such a thing is even possible, but how great would it be to see who's visited our bases to show their love and support?
  17. Thanks! It's been awhile, and there is so much I've forgotten! I guess I never noticed it was gone on live because we all (in my sg) quit fiddling it almost immediately. I didn't miss it so much, I didn't even notice it was gone. Hehe
  18. Well, sb also boosts your recharge, but I get the running into walls thing. All too well. Heh.
  19. Right, thus my being happy with Homecoming for getting rid of that lunacy. /Did I miss something?
  20. Yes, just go to your sg base (or any of the amazing open to all bases) to access Echo Galaxy City. From there, head to the tram and go to Ouro, Get the badge and voila! :) If you need base access, hit me up, and you can use mine.
  21. Excelsior is full of amazing, smart, helpful people, so you can drop your questions in Help chat or PM any of us (my global is also my forum name). We'll all do what we can to answer your questions and help you out. For build help, check out the specific threads on various ATs. I can help you with a blaster, mm, or troll build, but if you're running a tank, etc., I'm totally useless to you. :P
  22. Hey Luke, due to my old friend insomnia, I'm on at all kinds of crazy times (for the US, anyway) that may work with your UK times. If you see me around, give me a holla; I'm always up for tfs and other fun stuff. @Tahliah
  23. Okay, dumb question, but can we access this file without logging into discord? My lappie hates discord very much.
  24. I definitely don't miss the way incarnates used to work. It's so wonderful to get incarnate stuff for regular content and not feel like we have to grind trials (I was hesitant to run a BAF even after seven years without our City because I was so sick of grinding that stuff back in the day). It's great now because we can join itrials because we want to not feel like we "have" to in order to progress. I don't miss the crazy slog required to get an sg base up and running, particularly for small sgs composed of rl friends/family and a few in-game buds. Two of us ended up getting all the beacons, kept our earn sg prestige on, etc. It was wretched. I don't miss the weird "elitism" (for lack of a better word) that seemed to permeate amongst some vets after COX went free-to-play (I kept paying for the sub but didn't get into the dismissive and disdainful "oh, they're freebies" mindset and actively worked to make "freebies" feel comfortable and welcome). I'm glad we're all "freebies" now. But enough negativity! I am totally in love with COH Homecoming. We need a thread on how great it is and what we are thrilled to have available now that wasn't on live. I guess that's what this is, but I want to focus on what I love not what I don't miss, she says splitting hairs. Easy side switching with Null the Gull, being able to run tfs with any number of people (even solo), free base everything, being able to invite alts to sg via a command, P2W vendors with all the goodies we used to earn over time and for paid subs, no more side-kicking lunacy, all costume items accessible at toon creation, easy ways to get ouro (though I do still like to run the Midnighter's arc for old time's sake), vet levels, and about a bazillion other things. All that said, I do sometimes miss the "milestones" like earning our capes, but if I wanted to, I could just stick to the "old" ways and not select a travel power until lvl 14 and do the "cape mish" at 20 (I think that was it), and etc. But I don't want to. Hehe
  25. You make great points, Obitus. I am thinking mostly of my main, who with ice/ice/ice, has a lot of mitigation (-def, -recharge, slows, holds, sleeps, etc.), so dps coupled with the mitigation makes her kind of damagey. I chose to pick up mitigation over (say) tough and weave for survivability and slotted accordingly (with sets mostly, blaster, purples, etc.). Most of the ice/ice holds do damage (typically over time), so the mitigation serves two purposes to me. I can definitely see opting for tough and weave, and I've seen blasters with the medicine pool (usually aid self), etc. That's just not the way I went with mine; nothing wrong with either choice, and who knows I may do a second build on her that focuses on defense/resist, etc. rather than on damage and mitigation. Actually, that sounds kind of fun! Slotting, as you note is key, too, and I focused on damage, acc, recovery, and recharge. I totally sold out on her build, and rather than a lengthy block of set bonuses, her list is pretty compact and focused on these areas. The other set bonuses I have are great, of course, and I do have resist/defense, kb protection, etc. procs to add to survivability, but I didn't focus on that in my build because I wanted those other yummies much more. With the procs + sets + mitigation she does really well solo, and who knows? she may be able to do +4/x8 content (I haven't tried that solo). It's not something I enjoy enough to try, to be honest. Although she has a few aoe's, as an ice blaster, most of her blasts are single-target, and I have this horror of spending ages slowly slogging through content when I could be enjoying some good old-fashioned carnage. heh Anyway, your point is taken. Between the variety of choices even within our AT (plus powerpools) and slotting, no two ice/ice blasters are the same let alone any two blasters and blappers. And actually, to take that even further, if someone had an ice/ice/ice blaster built just like mine, they'd probably play her differently than I do mine! What a fun train of thought.
