Looking for a non-busy ranged combo to play.
Without_Pause replied to The Time Witch's topic in Archetypes
Disclaimer: I'm rather ignorant about Seismic Blast, so I'm not the one to do a build for it. I can still easily see issues with said build though. Sprint. 3-Slotting Quickfoot is odd for a few reasons. The Celerity set offers the same set bonuses but better, and it also adds in Stealth. While yes, it offers less End Reduc, this should be a non-factor unless you actively have it toggled on 100% of the time. Spoiler alert, don't do that. Even still, you have an IO's worth of End Reduc. If you are to slot Sprint beyond the single slot, 2-slot it and call it as day. The End Reduc isn't really worth it nor the 3-slot bonus. Stamina. 3-slotted while getting 2ish slots worth of End. 2-slotting Performance Shifter will do similar and likely better in one less slot. Phase Shift. I don't understand taking the power when slotting +Stealth in Sprint is an option. It's also an end hog. Teleport Target. Maybe justifiable if soloing, but even then I highly question its usefulness. I could see justifying on some level going for Fold Space, but not for a Fire/sonic Corr. I leave Fold Space to melee characters, and even then I haven't taken it. Web Envelope. I can see adding it in if you are a Controller needing AoE containment, but I just don't see the need for it. It certainly isn't worth 6 slots when powers are underslotted. Also, I don't think I have ever slotted for Immobilization. A proc from the set? Sure. Scorpion Shield. I won't debate this too much, but I have seen some people grab a Res based armor to take with Sonic to really max out the Res. Also, Scorpion Shield is taken, but neither of the +3 Def IOs are used. It begs the question of what the build is being built for. Tough. Instead of 6-slotting Web Envelope, you could take say Hasten and use those extra slots to put in both +3% Def IOs here or elsewhere. Also, Impervious Skin is capped at Level 30, which means you are only getting 26.13% Res out of the power compared to 54.16% if you used a set which went to level 50. And no, the set bonus from Impervious Skin at that point isn't worth it considering the higher values alone counter it. Add in having the slots to add in 5-slotting Gladiator's Armor, you also get KB protection. Acrobatics. It's been awhile since I've seen a build take this. An argument could be made for using Fly and grabbing Evasive Maneuvers for your KB protection. Yes, I am aware Acrobatics covers Holds as well. Even in this day and age, I don't take this power. Super Jump. Again, unless you have this toggled on 100% of the time, the End Reduc does you nothing. If you want to go cheap, a common Jump IO would be better. Sonic Barrier/Sonic Haven. Add a slot to each and you get +6 S/L Res in bonus values plus whatever Res slotting you add in. Stopping at the added HP point just feels odd. Shatter. I can not fathom on any level why a T2 ST blast would be slotted out for its debuff. I don't even do this on a Defender. If the +3% Def IOs were slotted you wouldn't even really need the 6-slot bonus. Seismic Force. Not taken and can be used with a single +Chance for Build Up IO. That this was skipped while Teleport Target was taken is all sorts of WTF? You're a Corr, be a Corr. Again, what is the build being built for? Tombstone. Taking and 6-slotting Web Envelope while not taking the snipe on a Corr is about as bad of a build choice as one can see. As a genuine die on the hill ranter against long animations in this game, Tombstone doesn't even qualify as it animates in under 2 seconds. The best justification is wanting to focus on support, but there's literally two other ATs better for that, and it's far easier to support a team when something is dead. In other words, when making a build, ask yourself what is the goal of the build. Why that power, why that set, and why that many slots. The build in question is functional in that it will work at a basic level. Due to set bonuses one could argue it is better than an SO build. That still doesn't make it good. Switch in a couple powers, move a few slots, and it would suddenly be at least decent. -
Recycle, repurpose, convert or buy
Without_Pause replied to COH Radgen's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much this. If I felt the need to strip out IOs from an alt, I am doing so since I am deleting the character. I have 15 Level 50s on my main account. I email their extra earnings to the lower level characters, and I use a spreadsheet for the current build status and finance situation each of my characters are in. Level 50s are either fully done or use common IOs with having 500 mill on hand for the conversion when I want to do their final build. My current target goal is anyone under 50 having 200 mill on hand. I have a plan for getting my next 5 characters to 50 in say Oct. which would put me roughly having 2/3 of my roster on my main account at 50. My biggest stop gap for not having a character at 50 is honestly a lack of a build. -
I hold back inspirs for that fight, but I also don't assume others do. Posi 1 is the one TF with the widest variance of how teams do. Even by Posi 2, teams are fairly competent at completing it smoothly.

You don't have to take them that early. Pop a respect once you hit 50 so they are taken earlier with the proper slotting. -

I have significant reservations about that build. I can do at least a partial breakdown if need be when I have the time. -
I have everything outside of N/T/P softcapped on my EA Brute. The ones softcapped can be Incarnate capped with the use of Incarnates with Neg. being softcapped. 1. See the link below and install the file where needed. 2. Create your build in Mids. 3. File -> Export -> Export Build to Beta Server. 4. Select the folder where Homecoming is installed. For me this is C:\Games\Homecoming. 5. Log into Beta. 6. Create the character with the same name as in Mids. 7. Use the /popmenu freebies command. 8. Set Level -> Level 50. 9. Train to 50. 10. /popmenu <character's name> 11. Use the first option. You now have part one of two loads of IOs. 12. Slot said IOs. 13. Repeat the command again and grab the rest of your IOs. 14. Finish slotting your character. I did an SS Brute at one time, but the build was hardly done and I didn't even save that, so this is by no means a 1:1 kind of thing, but here's my Claws/ea Brute so you have ideas for the EA side of things. I think he solos essentially on +1/x8, but he's early in getting Incarnates. I don't have a SR Brute built out yet although I have two SR Scrappers done. |MBD;23755;1387;1852;BASE64;| |G8pcYKwKeHMO5cToYFAN3FEqbwe/zy31lw0C/DlT9kxpmi6m/GscCHNte9vCPyG7LZ9| |gNMnS1dc6LCBd3abnM0Jdlfo6P6vqmauja0a95cBLsGIMss2fa9d/WksT7c6GZhJWIk| |ItzASYFMIcu1sZUIk7GWGACig9aZG/at53PSErVEBVCNm6Qh/+ZlNJ5eSz9ZcAiy1LT| |roOXkXubxTi4w6xd8ElPT42kcOREoK/UvCsqykR/BYiOpERvwjMO4xnuYE4d7u8w/BB| |yl96BbTa3cWFvQQ/iRJxlFwhXSfDwnWF79nEhOXBcy9slJu9bq8X/lnLJ+bywEYZklU| |Fx4M2ZdcnMoqPd9lBFxSobBA9pRtVtSL9sEprKY5z6QVWL60neGfRv+55Y+mD9sfSZ8| |MVa2MJb2kv6gddavnJ6sRx3uLpmylCqSp8mHNuPjuVzdjSD9VKlydKqa7Xo5IzhlVXE| |UNv9uur3aZq56a92rwAfR93P4YNOCw/dWX4k3nn0+rcRA3+eIyp0nz73hGvU/dWKtiX| |3zgWD1t6A9/ofE90+kVfdMVv4aITnn35PWO97Gxz4amnbjuAL1gJVzn1Zt/4H6myN/q| |buvbs/P9Wmgk283/R9S2GlEY1BNpLV+Xg6aabVSmKuI1WiWESoAiJw6SBTHMQbVvPKM| |fY4xrB9lyW3YFKz/83cQNgUwj2kcsnQBFyXz4NSpJ5DcH8vENUEdQBJW6gNCDjPSz2F| |25hsuRIMQWpHZcWi6/Bg2NbbI+7ELT0Em2HKTKPodMtf0XbHApLsQfl8Z9uzb7JA/MA| |hth3MC9gjH2B/kiVH5P8GO1tO6Vs6ZK+vYyihdm0KvJRQM2bkXwTGGHVh2/DRk5/ro0| |tfe0fYKQMI6mVVbxE6Cf2gJfzKvHcsB5krE9gIVgfa8pdOJcHhc91pNI9ZngUX+6YG3| |7JmXv0sLgk2fZDXDxQBRMlHPQpZhXACNnBsnmLnjHdWCN9NFL4EdOWFWydMyKfYltlI| |SR6FOqK4dRifgMvgnexEtx9XMwcJW4crDLw6V2kf2T2eDvRMgAbwV4Smkz/GjqzB48u| |1MokYFLAGHmfyUQA6fTJsqmLn44NwEgZRnJD0rmby/oPUON503FL6m1F94Qzpm40QOG| |RFXRLpjb+brpaXlw7R8LaXGAhWN0TrsV0Gj0BnRSsV6P8uSOltHxx2zwG0fCeobRYY7| |WnE38EsEfKRHsl1ryx93sJ9RbSKZZLwKWAMRKPs6S+Ps91GIX1DZH5EFG/CrEu0ONNQ| |wZsBPu/0OdMMQ7isosVAWuwaDacahhgQ2CXcCtoTurXv/Vz91c22FbGgDGZv+Ig9lea| |Mpy91nmMRHjcT3S6ti3m6Wp5dqgd9m4Zj7yQzCvglcAI6eLVQKf9zr7BFxLw2DNmZzJ| |GjqwWJMmR/cgskxJL22GjkePRTfntXDftAbDh1jwGG8ZtiOYWwAiWd4p3gpFDEpts9O| |uWVHNpxgBqohV3mcaDfmHrtWh5UmP6gCF3edpUJ1Wpo1m5QGskI2T5LFjR3AIYYoHhV| |qCYmh+QHC81g1WpX6unad+Aj+Cv502+bFX9zyKBg+C8ufGJELag+rHK/u77RacUR2Q8| |cl86E2310p958gOEc78H70pWazacv1Qn4Un5tmifWJ6bKoZhWMdVe44IhUsuL3tUA6X| |47CyPI3IGN+FW3Vaj/h2ef4v1JfdD+nP8ytSPd0Xya2MXDhCYwU1zkD9x1TYnyXfync| |nSQuGbwOQYkv25xEXDRy/Pr5NhCCyUGVtv3br3m+jmO6NGa0u5I+o65PO+hcVoDUeMt| |Xx8DQyI6H9pDru4wzXrihuEZjqE5UbDqE7jxKV3Ng==|

Grav/Kin - Open to build Comments/Criticisms/Feedback/Advice
Without_Pause replied to Blindwookie's topic in Controller
FS will damage cap you and others. There's not much reason for Assault. Kin needs to hit. You'll get far more mileage out of Tactics. -
Capping DDR on a SR outside of a Sent is stupid easy. I've only done Rad to level 30, but I'm not happy with it, so I need to do some research on it because the narrative for how good it is as a Res set is better than mine is performing. It is click heavy, but yes, it plays nicer with SS and helps with in the AoE for SS. FYI, you can make a build in Mids and import it to the Beta server to get a run at the build there to see how it performs. It's pretty easy to do. I can post how to do it if you are interested.

My comment to my wife after the first episode is that I really need to see the second one. The first episode is very much 'Wait, what?'

Without_Pause replied to Jacktar's topic in General Discussion
To add, some builds might be a bit like flipping a switch once they hit level 35. Add in another level to further slot said power, and I feel the late 30s is where a build finally comes together, and then you are just waiting for hitting 50, slotting possible purples, superior versions of IOs, etc. -

45 - 19,304,119 XP ... 50 - 39,149,119 XP Halfway is level 45. XP from a single Vet Level gets you from 1-37. The most sane way for me to level 30-50 is some variation of soloing x4-x8 even without 2X XP boosters. I have a Level 39 Dark/sr Scrapper doing x4, and I'm getting through two arcs plus some extras in the 35-39 range. Once I hit 40 and get the Mayhem mission badge, I'll simply duo-box to 50, and then flip it to x8 for the drops. -
The only thing of note is you'll want to go over soft cap on Def since the Rage crash gives you a -Def debuff. The good news is the +Recharge and +End EA offers.

I haven't done Claws/sr on a Brute, but I have zero issues with End on my Scrapper. Yes, Claws is End friendly. I fully accept sets like Axe being an issue. The amount of Blues which drop easily cover any remote issue on my Scrapper. I keep Conserve Power for when I'm dealing with End drain based mobs, and I only have it single slotted for Recharge. It would be swapped for Superior Conditioning on a Brute, so it should be good to go anyway. I think the easiest way for me to make a Tanker Brute using Taunt would be to just make a build for teams where I use Taunt instead of the Aim type power and have a build for solo where I skip Taunt. Outside of that, just make a Tanker. Ice/ice would be fine for damage. Honestly, builds don't start to come together until their 30s if not late 30s, so I would keep pursuing with the Tanker as well. Case point, my Dark/sr Scrapper felt 'set' at Level 37. Anyway, for armors, SR and EA help with damage due to +Recharge. Shield has Shield Charge and Against All Odds. Invul offers +ToHit. I should mention MA gets +Def in Storm Kick for Brutes and Tankers. Dragon's Tail can be made to recharge quick enough to where it by itself can be respectable AoE.
-
I was talking of those mentioned by the person who quit. Since I'm not in Closed Beta, I don't know what else was included. Interesting that they were looking into so many armors. I will say, the complete end drain aspect to T9 armors really needs to go away. It was removed from nukes. It is well past time to make the change for armors.
-
Define tanking. If on a team, are you planning on using Taunt? I ask because I have an actual higher level Tanker who has Taunt and in all honesty I use it in spots. I never take in on a Brute as merely taking alpha is enough. If you want a sturdy Brute to handle +1/x4, then practically you are looking at */*. If you've played all of the armors you will know which ones have fewer visual displays. Ideal sets for a Brute are essentially the best sets for a Brute outside of Stone, so SR, Shield, EA, and Invul. SR and Shield and auto fire their mezz protection. Invul has a single click. EA has two, but at +1/x4 I can't imagine needing those clicks much. My Claws/ea Brute solos on +1/x8 currently. He'll bump it up once I get the Alpha to T3. My Scrapper version is already there. I might pop it to +3 depending on the mission. RE: AoE size. If you are only soloing at x4, then a Tankers bigger AoEs isn't an advantage. By no means equivalent, but I found soloing on my Shield/fire Tanker slower than say any of my Scrappers. I would need to do more testing with my Brutes, but higher damage in a smaller AoE can make it feel like your pace is better. Again, this was hardly a 1:1 case as the Tanker isn't level 50 like the others although Level 41. The higher damage for non-Tanker ATs feels notable on harder targets. Sure, you are basically unkillable, but it just feels slower. Honestly, if you want a fast paced soloing experience at that diff level, a Scrapper or Stalker would be far better picks. I recently did some MJ arc missions with my Dark/shield Scrapper and it was like done, done, done, and moving on. For primaries, I'm a fan of Claws, but I favor it more on a Scrapper due to the crits covering for how Lethal damage can be resisted and Spin having a shorter recharge, or exotic damage types like Ice and Dark. Fire is better on a Tanker. Ice is cheat code for making a build durable. Ice with any of the Def based armors will be incredibly durable. Fury favors DoT as well. Dark is simply the least resisted damage type across all content, and it isn't even close. It also works wonders with SR and Shield due to their lack of heal. I will say Axe backed by a secondary which offers +Recharge and +End see EA is going to be super good. My Axe/stone Brute is certainly looking to apply for being my best overall melee character.
-
I could only partially understand a nerf to EA if it is being ported to Tankers, but I have a hard time even fully accepting that. I'll have to see what any changes to EA are as I have four builds at 50 across the four ATs who use it. If it's a bug, then fine, but considering Stone exists as one mere example, I'm not sure why EA would need to be scaled back. Radical changes to popular armors feels like all sorts of FAFO.
-
Making insane changes to where sets are unrecognizable and involving two of the more popular Res based armors is a hell of a thing to try with such a niche base of players.
-
-
A big reason to go Thermal Def for me was due to the higher numbers. I would be more inclined to go with a different AT if I felt like the higher numbers were less needed, see Kin or something which buffs Def as most people are already covering Def on some level. As always, you can hit a limit to how high a buff can go. Good luck hitting debuff limits.

Looking for a non-busy ranged combo to play.
Without_Pause replied to The Time Witch's topic in Archetypes
I made this one, but I only played it to low level. I'm working on putting it on the Beta server and playing the final version there. Note, I would grab Ice Bolt early and respec out of it once you get the other blasts. There's no purples so it is on the cheaper side. I use the Sorcery pool so they were essentially done as a Ice wizard/sorcerer. |MBD;22951;1340;1788;BASE64;| |G6ZZAKyKx/lXLKSkJLigx4yXS5GuPc0mU34aB8Jc297vCb8sd1swEkOydPW1DgtIV51| |O5auXBdrCQOkreX9qb1U9u3fXTdesekTslwwnDCPA2b9fTV9txMxoPTGLca3u3FpLK2| |t39IVcWZhgSsOtQh4M95DeonyxBAawTFDCYZhpTIauq0qdO2AN60j7o3PEouiXCvFhv| |7gugqWz/q3gyWEKMn+B4HnfrcsEEJEGCPwShwK/jz0xssV589zpwkBDKl18LWDo7iKX| |X8kNb3UYhf+miE7glA1SoJ9NLHi/5yZkUPjudQIbKvoMotfsjvW4we2BYeSON3SRz+s| |3MqNq4zzmACOcS9j9dtoiib81woWpUZ1CUa/YFna4InIgP29yVCzniKXlVlMfyHV/mS| |8d7o0uOdT/C1tgWvikA9uL5J0mHNGtFbEp8n2j9fDuvMI9VRvOl+fRLW3VqpNY1Zs5M| |8bN9vvagudGJvs+LI7pJxLebxZdDDNan9f7JuJA8DAuM5egZ9ZL1b6bNf8Vf1J3/G6d| |BGTLuzm6t2Pyjc7PHcXUuEUOAsbeeoIjHLvuGbsZ78HqszffAT/hFGh1dv6Vv5Cm14U| |pUaT7en/54VuznOqA6gSMkLWC6ka2Ew0tuerck5an6SIZwWSl7ls9egNT7o3JpO2LEP| |/u/D/BQ9bNkPMMhNzaAtoSMEIGCGUNb2k+amBwqHpcQllCWS2U1aL4tJAvN7bh/y4VD| |zUoO1zDsDf2qbDJ7dbkKLkES1wlAZTECWY6LQUYQ/mnxLYv4yNrQs8x9QeXfK5xGwXu| |sO68zvJsO9ZtOXos0SewmgAKEeiqKaAkTtTt1PDsVOhSX+XHvpmQreF5/ZBdpeLF/ek| |jPG/8KjjsTtQOeifd6+wGPH8yUt4NWcAJHK7A4boKVbS+GLTpWro7coUuMGGYZYh1a5| |gPkBM3n2BKXi0BGCHA0tLQLHMYG8JdT5Wj2MLjia0Ehhcc67NaB6c5rraADcOOR5XVU| |WwXKGeY0W+XnS3EAxq4YbjpDVrYrJGgoqcEQ2Sv5OMfFdqNZLoO8Lj9ThEvCUOXVqtq| |ZEoqOLkVV0kAhQhPT0kBxQjPbSDFxGppxXygthg4nJJRjZKTTKclKyfClH2TSHiITOA| |Lpf3IZGboyFRCPlLIRwohsuSL6//uH05cMcQ+r0KRMxmwPeMoThmwXYHtfhy1PW64v+| |nXl+QMV+CGkl3IHCafL+VFMUJUwghKuqthz61nlHaGl9LwTuRwfz+lNLwHHig7ZOOc5| |Tp1Sd3VNqFzYmuD2nsPxEe9SREr2CJHUzjy2wH5On3FfpwLwdl90+q8vSl7JM53w2M3| |1yWpA5eugK4CjBG4YRKBNzSVePoLeWIBXCrNcHUV7Ge49CxQdYm31KoCgrqkXyebzhN| |Pow41reffOeCB4bETGxQt3ZiyZIfvRG1H+piZNOKNx4AzWXrczuNEQ6aJI+6r3SsKdL| |amvsgNk6nSkcWRK1bcvM8Djl2qMSxIbkUIYBK1BEsi8rneWw04dRwsB1xofu91E//wg| |R8EtHKTV1RIAcgCG3m1rdklSqoLbWuQD64IPU7y1uMKH31mI4/j86CN3QRVexWbGq7w| |XvAgkWwWB+3V241t6c/Xdoj+AIQhtT+zo3sK0tOF6oE5EGWVsP+LzT/Fftd7f/Ce/s2| |075wGF08KnC+xfa7vr0xcBoSzScF/bcde6lLM8KcYCj4g+K91acowpDu4QupoCUU/7P| |3ZCCZkj89E5nagG3nk7cWNLP6hAHTGlvnQC+b0AyWUOxo=| -
It's been too long since I have looked Bill Z Bubba's build, and the one he posted generates an error in Mid's. I honestly did my build from the ground up with no outside influence just to see what I could come up with. I know one difference is their using purples. I have the coin, I just haven't switched over. I think it would be easy enough to look at the 2nd thread where he mentions the purples he slots to merge mine and his. Point is, when it's all said and done I have little doubt there are very few maps which will cause even my build an issue at my more preferred diff setting of +3/x8. +4 diff setting with how much certain mobs resist Lethal makes soloing less fun. The only difference in rewards is currency, and I don't lack that.
-
FYI, Res numbers become the following once you click on RoP: 72.2% S/L 46.5% E/N 32.8% F/C 47% T/P Also, I was wrong about rotating Melee and RoP. There will be down time, but honestly, even without those two powers you are rather difficult to kill. I essentially use them when soloing on higher diff settings and troublesome mobs. Say like +3/x8 Nemesis.
-
Do you have the latest Mid's? When I grabbed your build it said it was from an older version.
-
Should have been posted tomorrow.
