How do you feel about 'lone wolfing'?
Without_Pause replied to Story Archer's topic in General Discussion
If I'm in the mission map with the rest of the team, then I am playing with the team. -
A case can be made for doing the daily DA missions at max diff since AE offers less XP. Considering you only need to T3 three different Incarnate skills, and you would be Level 53 which means you would only really be playing at +1/x8 although getting the rewards of max diff. Point is, it wouldn't take much to get a non-melee to solo at that diff setting for the daily DA missions. I did a test run on Beta for an Ice/sr Sent at +0/x8 and it was in general a snoozefest. Add in Incarnates and that's only going to get faster, and honestly, that's not even a high damaging Sent combo. /bio or /rad would be better. An Elec/kin should be fine although I haven't tested it.

Of the ones mentioned, /stone will add the most damage. /stone is a solid pick for any AT which has it. It does lack a taunt aura on Scrappers, but I tend to find it less of an issue with Claws having ranged attacks as I have a Claws/sr which also doesn't a taunt aura. I never got /nin far. It feels a bit too clicky for my taste. Sig confirms I enjoyed my play of my Claws/ea. I'm currently tweaking my various Claws builds even if currently I like them a lot. I'm most looking to get rid of Hasten from the builds I can.

From a sheer performance standpoint, EA.

How do you feel about 'lone wolfing'?

I have joked on here about being on a team as it's great to have an audience. While saying that is something more to poke fun at, I did a TF with my Tanker and at the end of the TF the other Tanker gave me a complement. If you think getting a complement from another player isn't satisfying, you are oh so very wrong. I don't expect it, but I sure as heck try to be a worthy teammate if I am on the team. CoH would be better off if people acknowledged good gameplay beyond 'nice heals.' -
Fire/Dark/ ? Corr - A little advice if you please?
Without_Pause replied to Soulsifter's topic in Corruptor
FYI, Res numbers are with RoP active. Res is also capped at 75% for Corrs so that 89% isn't really happening. Damage procs in toggles aren't great post Page 5, IIRC. (insert taking WoC while skipping Fearsome Stare and Dark Servant rant here) -
We all hit that point. It simply becomes a case of playing what you like or simply moving on. I prefer taking breaks. I also prefer just keeping the builds I most want to play. Right now that's around under 35. I can't begin to imagine the number of builds I have deleted during my time playing CoH. Also, as someone who ran a SG on Live, I have never prevented someone from being on my team due to their build. CoH is not a min/max type of game. I've literally done a TF in short order on a team while Level 27 and nothing slotted.

The recent one for me was playing a Dark melee character and having someone repeatedly screw with Soul Drain. I can: remain with the team and do less damage, or go off on my own and Soul Drain to my heart's content. Yes, I could sit there like a good little Scrapper and wait, or the mob could be well on their way to being dead already. -
Congrats on having a worse take than Diantane.

There's only two ATs I can think of who have a remote chance of pulling that off, and I can't recall ever one hitting a high level boss with my Stalker. Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug.

Because I essentially do them for TFs, and I see lone wolfs on them a lot. It wasn't even a thing for me until I saw others doing it. I would play a melee and kept having teammates interfere with what I was doing, see Fold Space, and it just felt better to take on mobs by myself. Note, I default to sticking to the team. I'm not going out on my own if I think the rest of the team can't handle it. Let's say you're on a Citadel. There's one support character. I can try to do my thing with the group offering a fraction of my damage against a mob, or I can go off knowing I'm not missing out really on support and have all of my damage count against a mob. Trust me, many people lone wolf Citadel, and yes, the argument can be made it is faster that way for defeat-alls. Speed runs are practically built on lone wolfs. P.S. I'm more likely to play squishies on a team, but I've soloed numerous of them just to see where the build is at. Some I solo a bunch. I team my Ill/dark about as much as I do my other solo friendly builds. My Fire/time Controller has no problem soloing with a more variable diff setting, I can't remember what I was doing for my TA/ice Defender. I can't recall if my Ill/dark is +2 or +3 with x8. Telling me my Ill/dark can't go lone wolf on a team which is fine without me is all sorts of "Oh bless you're heart." -
Speaking of maps, do a search for Page 5 in AE and that will likely steer you in the direction of the ones without -Def. Servers are down so I can't offer up any I like. I like to duo box, so I'm a fan of the tunnel maps. Post Page 5, I know there is one map where I can do a run without even hitting my heal. To add, mine is Rad/fire and has never been updated to Page 5. I'm likely just missing out on squeezing out more speed.

Min/maxing then soloing a character is practically the only reason I'm here. It actually makes the game difficult. Doing +3/x8 RWZ arcs by myself has been more fun than pretty much any TF I have done since Live. And really, considering the sheer number of TFs which are run at +0, there's very low risk of team wipes let alone dying. -

So don't bring my Level 50 to a lower TF so I can get the TF Commander badge? So don't try to make my build as good as possible since having any sort of uber toon ruins it for you? If you are doing end game content, bringing a Level 50 is to be expected. -
You might want to head here for some additional info. There's talk of the build in the first couple of pages, You mostly need to look at changes post Page 5.

I generally only do teams with melee characters when doing TFs. Scrappers are the ones I most feel like I would much rather be soloing. Brutes and Tankers can at least deal with alpha strike and tanking easier. Note, my Scrappers can take alpha strike, but I might not even be able to with other melee characters around. Plus, there's always that aggressive squishy who might be out in front as well. I would much rather 'lone wolf' on a team with a Scrapper. If it's Level 50 content, they can solo +2-+3 just fine anyway. Oh, its +0 since it is for the badge. I'll go my way and look to see who generates the mission completion button first. -
Fire/Dark/ ? Corr - A little advice if you please?

I look up the proc on the Wiki, and it will mention the rate it fires. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Decimation:_Chance_for_Build_Up Additional reading. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Procs_Per_Minute -
Last night I saw someone do a bid of over 10 million for rare salvage.

Fire/Dark/ ? Corr - A little advice if you please?
Without_Pause replied to Soulsifter's topic in Corruptor
My Fire/dark Corr is only Vet Level 3 so I'm not that far into Incarnates. I find Incarnates aren't all that complicated. Judgement: When in doubt, pick Ionic. Void is good for having the Debuff. Outside of that, pick what fits the theme of the character. Lore: Pick whatever looks good with your character. Min/max choices are there(BP), but I rarely do them. I T4 everything else first, and I rarely use the Lore pets anyway. The +1 Level for Incarnate content is of little importance to me. Interface: Degenerative or Reactive. I default to Reactive. You can look through the list of the others and see what procs and if anything interests you. I go for ones which kills things faster. Destiny: Being a squishy, I would lean Clarion. Barrier can be an option. You don't need Rebirth and Ageless just doesn't offer enough. I know Incandescence is an option. It never crosses my mind to take it. Hybrid: Assault is more damage, but you aren't built for it. Control is out with you not being a controller. Melee is great if you don't mind being in range even if via hovering. The only other option is Support. Alpha: This is the one I spend the most time on, and Uun covered the best options. -

Fireball has an Arcanatime(factoring in lag) of 1.188 sec. I don't understand how that feels slow. No Fire Storm, Blazing Bolt, or Aim? (shakes head) You complain of animation times while skipping Aim but taking Soul Drain. I don't get it. Really, I don't, and I'm someone who dies on the hill against long animations. You seem to want to focus more on support. Go play a Defender. Consider a Controller as well. A huge attraction of Fire for a Corr is using it with Tar Patch in this case. Tar Patch + Aim, FB + RoF. Just watch all of that Scourge happen. Dark isn't even that busy of a set, so I am further confused why you are stripping out the heart of Fire to spend time focusing on a not really busy support set. FYI, the Chance for Build up in Decimation only triggers 1/minute. Not 6-slotting the ATOs means you are missing out on Ranged and AoE Def. I'm not really sure that Winter's Bite is worth it. The Kismet +6% IO is less useful with a 6-slotted Tactics. You could 6-slot Blaze instead. You want the Damage IO in Inferno. You are only getting 66% Damage enhancement as is. You only skip the Damage IO in purple sets. I'm not sure what Power Boost is really doing for you here. I get it matched with other power sets. I would rather have Cloud Senses in FS. Again the proc bonus feels a bit wasted with a 6-slotted Tactics and you have one AoE attack, and it's Inferno. -
Best Non-Blaster ranged for fast moving teams
Without_Pause replied to MeanieDaPooh's topic in General Discussion
I would look at Plant/fire. So much of Plant is simply down to using Seeds and then you can blast away as needed. My first thought was going Sent. I have a Level 50 Fire/ea and an Ice/sr in Beta I am testing out. My initial test had me soloing while looking at a second screen the build was so safe. You can essentially have a AoE KD nuke up roughly every mob. -
You don't need the KB protection in SS. You could 2-slot Celerity or simply put that extra slot elsewhere.

The guides section is a good resource for it.

Been awhile since I soloed a Controller from Level 1. ST Immobilize, Hold, And Arcane Bolt can get you going. AB can be respected out later. This says nothing of primaries which have access to another ST attack. And yes, up to this point they have focused on solo play. They are looking more towards team play for now.
