You've never seen a runner get stunned, have you? Or a Stunned Tsoo with speed boost? To be honest, I dislike stuns more than KB. At least with KB, I can be reasonably sure where they're going. I've had stunned mobs literally run away faster than they would when not stunned. Just last night, on Agent Knockback, I was keeping an entire mob locked down and unable to attack at all because I sent all of them into the corner with Repulsion Field. Yeah, I can herd cats with Knockback.
-
It might be the secondary effect that requires the most attention, but it's not the only one. Stuns will cause the mobs to wander all over the place. Usually spreading out to make AoE less efficient. AoE Immobilizes, Holds and sleeps, if not applied correctly will keep the mobs spread out, reducing the effectiveness of damaging AoEs. Most every secondary effect needs to have some attention applied to it for optimal effectiveness. Some of them need other secondary effects to negate the downsides of their own effect. Stuns for example.

That is either an overly generalized statement, or you are using anecdotal evidence from your own teaming experience where you have aggressively campaigned for the removal of all knockback. I have not experienced any PuGs that have had issues my KB powers. And I requested that they let me know if my KB was bothering them the instant I joined the team. I don't think the hate for all things KB is as wide spread as you imagine it is. If that person is attempting to dictate the power choices, slotting, and powers usage of another player, then yes, he is a villain. Suggestions are fine. Demands are not. You, clearly, haven't seen KB used in a beneficial way with the proper setup by the herder. Probably because you don't know how to herd properly. Yes, everyone that advocates that KB is useless is wrong. The interesting thing with Energy Blasters, is they have enough ST attacks that they can easily not irritate the entire team and still attack. That one bad Energy Blaster, however, might be using his Energy Torrent at every opportunity. It was a lesson I had to learn early on when I was teaming with mine. Of course, it does help if the herder takes half a second to assist in the mitigation of the Blaster's KB. That is, if the Blaster is wanting to mitigate his KB. I've run across a few that either intentionally grief the team, or are oblivious that their KB is causing problems Usually the latter). It is unfortunate that some people seem to have only encountered those KB users rather than one who actually knows how to use it beneficially and then assume the problem is with the KB and not the user.
-
If you want me to use my KB in a beneficial manner, and you are the one taunting the enemy groups into a huddle, you had best make sure that that huddle is NOT in the middle of an open area. It is on you as the herder to place the mobs near obstacles that can be used to mitigate the distance that the mobs are knocked back. Otherwise, I'll just happily sit back and sponge exp off you because you can't be bothered to choose a more convenient location. That is what I mean by melee doing their part. It's really not that much, just a few more neurons being used to herd the bad guys to a better suited location. I can guarantee that I would still be doing 5 times the work (or more) setting up my KBs to be most beneficial to the team, than you would herding the mobs to a wall. And that's all I ask when I'm playing a KB centric character on a team. Herd the mobs to a wall. It's really not that hard to do for most mobs. If the team plays with a modicum of intelligence, there won't be any knocking the mobs out of ae debuffs and what not. It all comes down to location, location, location, Now the reverse question for you. What makes you so special that you that you can dictate other people's power choices? Cause I know you're itching to suggest getting hover so us KB people can Hover above the mobs and knock them back into the ground.
-
This is true. For the most part, I tend to be careful with my KB. I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. So, I do make some errors resulting in a miss-allocation of unexpected lateral movement for the enemy. However, the onus of mitigating KB deleterious effects doesn't fall solely on the shoulders of the one using the KB. I have run into situations where the Taunter would gather a mob into the middle of an open area away from any conceivable obstruction to help mitigate the KB. This practically neuters Agent Knockback from using any of his powers. Before you suggest it, He does not have fly and will not get Hover. It is not thematic for the character. If you don't like it, I probably wouldn't have liked teaming with you anyway. I can understand where KB could be irritating. I find myself getting irritated with the KB from my own PB Melee attacks. Mainly the ST attacks. It is very counter productive for me to punch my own target away from me. I don't, however, have as much issue with the KB from the AoEs. I'm already used to positioning myself for optimal AoE usage with other Melee characters. Positioning for beneficial KB effect is no different. In my opinion, the Melee people who complain most about KB, are just lazy and won't do their part in helping to mitigate the less desired side effects.

I've had that issue as well. But, just the opposite. Usually, I'm trying to change to Dwarf, I'll briefly flash to Dwarf then back to human, but my tray is setup for the Dwarf form.
-
That would explain why I wasn't getting any AoE with that attack.
-
That is true... In fact I'm on a TPing character as we speak... Ok, interestingly enough, the powexeclocation overrode the Powexecname. It wouldn't let me teleport unless I had a target. And then only to that target.
-
I'm not sure that would work, it's theoretically possible, I suppose... I'm just thinking that the inclusion of the +lmouse would interfere or override the target part.
-
I tend to use tray 1 for human, tray 8 for dwarf and tray 9 for nova. My form bound keys are S(quid), D(warf) and X(it out of Nova or Dwarf). I tried shift+ the form keys, but it was getting a little difficult to switch quickly during combat. I do use shift+lbutton for my Dwarf step. I think I'll set up a combat teleport bind so I can just TP to my target with a single key press. Probably use Shift+T "pow_exec_location target Dwarf Step" (or what ever TP power I end up using on what ever character that has a TP like power) Unlike a lot of people, apparently, I use the number pad for my movement (right hand) and my left hand for practically everything else.

I have tested this through several missions with my level 50 tier 4 alpha slotted Incarnate PM/WP brute. Never once saw "Insight Strike" over more than 1 enemy per attack. Each and every time, I was surrounded layers deep with bad guys. Only saw the one Insight strike, and three damage indicators, the two types that the attack has as base and the Insight extra damage. Feel free to post some screenies of the AoE damage that you've been getting from GPB.
-
Still, I'd consider it a bug. I might have to do some testing with that mission...if I can remember which one it is... If you have your notoriety setting at x8, I can see tossing out that many DE. Settings at x2 should not toss out 30 bad guys though.

That would not alleviate this ... If you can solve that problem with populous servers, then I'll be 1000% behind you. Until then, leave me my peace. I get blind invites on Reunion as it is. Granted, not many, and way more people ask me if I'd like to join a team instead of just flinging an invite my way, but, as I said before, blind invites are a pet peeve of mine. They REALLY irritate me, irrationally, for some reason.

I have this on one of my Pretorians. He'll his the key for fly, and say (in local) "Flight mode on", switch costumes to his battle suit with a jetpack, turn fly on, and load the Fly2 bind file. that one will say in local "flight mode off", turn off fly, change back to the costume without the jetpack and load the fly1 bind file. That way the same key will toggle on or off fly and always say the appropriate line for the costume he's changing to. I tend to only use fly when going between missions so the keybind doesn't irritate people (or myself) all that much.
-
Last time I did that mission I was with a friend playing his MM. I had figured that the insane amount of DE that showed up might have been because the game was counting the pets in with the team size. 6 pets, plus 2 players and we were getting 24 or so DE spawning on us. If you were by yourself and that was happening, then I'm thinking this is a bit worse of a bug that I had first thought.

I had forgotten all about Trapdoor's Bifurcating when I recently ran that arc. My Psychic Melee Brute just stood toe to toe with him in the center of the platform and Psychically slapped him down in a couple of minutes. I wondered why it took longer than I figured it would have... ED didn't really affect me all that much. I was already diversifying my slotting at that point. So, I didn't really see any change. My brother, on the other hand, never respec'd his Kin/Dark Defender and his Transfusion was still 6 slotted with all heals when the game went dark. He was out healing some Empaths with that one...even after ED.

I understand, and respect your position as well. I know that there are folks that like busy crowded servers. It's nice that CoH:H is a place where both peoples can co-exist peacefully. 🙂
-
Back in the day, before they destroyed Galaxy City, that was my starting point because nearly EVERYone, on what ever server I was on, would congregate around Miss Liberty. Made my poor computer cry. I've gotten a better computer since then. Also, I don't normally like to team up with strangers. Probably a throw back to being raised not to talk to strangers and what not. I do on occasion, though. I just don't really care to get a couple of dozen blind invites every hour. On lower populated servers, I tend to get fewer blind invites. The blind invite is a pet peeve of mine. So, yeah. I'm not really an advocate for all the servers being crowded. I like my low population server.
-
There are people that don't like over populated or crowded servers. So, I would guess that some people would not think it a great thing.

If there is an Aloha slot, then I want a Ciao slot as well...😁 -
I could try that out on my PB. She hasn't done a single mission from any of her contacts, just Newspaper missions, tip missions, and other members of the team's missions. Sunstorm does show up as a contact with available missions, and the PB is level 34. So, I might try out the Kheldian contact soon.

Vet levels after maxing Incarnates?
Twisted Toon replied to TungstenShark's topic in General Discussion
I have a tier 4 Alpha and need 1 component for my tier 3 Judgement to make a tier 4 Judgement. And, I haven't had to use any Emp Merits in the process. I've just been lucky with my rewards from the Heather Townsend arc in Dark Astoria. -
Doesn't Flurry look a lot like Shadow Maul? Why not just make it a narrow cone like SM, instead of the Single Target power that it is. Problem solved.
-
I never noticed my Greater Psi Blade doing any AoE damage. I've seen it do increased damage, but not AoE.
-
My Psychic Melee character has Willpower for a secondary. It has worked well so far. And, she's level 50 with a tier 4 Alpha. Have yet to unlock the next Incarnate slots.
