  1. Yeah, it's gonna take a while. That's why I'm trying to compress the whole archive into as small of a space as possible, and then re-upload it. I'll host it on CityOfPlayers.com, and I'll also host it via torrent, for as long as it takes to get this thing done. ETA, about 16 hours until the files are compressed.
  2. I kinda really wanted it to be setup in such a way that would allow anyone at any time to grab all the files, start the parser, and start parsing. No fuss, no muss.
  3. I do hope you mean 4TB, instead of 4GB. You don't even have to make copies of the executable. Just run the same executable as many times as you want, and point them to the same directory. The way the program works, on EVERY program loop, it: Checks for already parsed files in the database, and deletes them from the local folder Puts the list of all remaining files into an array and grabs a RANDOM file from that array to process After it's done processing the file, it deletes the local file, and repeats the loop again, refreshing its own internal lists every time.
  4. Which program? Pigg Viewer 1.61 https://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php?topic=12222.0 Pigg Viewer 5.7 https://sourceforge.net/projects/piggviewer/files/PiggViewer/5.7/ Pigg Viewer Pro (my favorite) https://github.com/CaitlynMainer/piggtools All made by different people.
  5. Well, you COULD do that... but then you'd have to actually pay attention to the file names, and only uncompress the files that haven't been parsed already by using the Viewer as a cross reference... and those files are named... painfully.... I mean, if you want to go ahead and do that work, I'm all for whatever help I can get... but I'm telling you right now, it'd make my eyes BLEED to compare these file names against each other to find unparsed files: Right now, the Parser program handles all this for you, by deleting all of the "previously parsed" files from your system, and then grabbing a random file that's left, on every loop.
  6. +1, But... don't you get your final power at level 50?
  7. I think you misunderstand. That's the COMPRESSED size. After you get it downloaded, you'd still have to uncompress it on your hard drive, in all its 735 GB glory. So, if you don't have around a terabyte to spare to have both the archive, and to decompress the archive... you sadly won't be able to help... I mean, I suppose I could upload the individual files somewhere perhaps and make them available to download, but then I'd have to setup some sort of code or something on a webpage that deleted the file from the server automatically and removed the link once it was parsed... and that right now I think is beyond my web coding ability, as I'm primarly a desktop programmer, just starting to step my foot into the world of the modern web...
  8. However, Fruit Salad...
  9. Right now, if I've got my math right, I estimate the final file size will end up being a little over 102GB. I've got 743 files compressed, and the file size right now is 4026 MB. There's 18,869 total files, so.... [pre] 743 18869 ____ = _____ 4026 X 743X = 18869*4026 743X = 75,966,594 X = 75,966,594 / 743 X = 102,243.06 MB, or 102GB [/pre] Let me know if my math/logic seems wrong, but it looks like it'll be less than half the size of the original archive, when I'm all done zipping it up. ^.^ Now, it MIGHT take longer to unzip, probably... but at least there'll be less chance/opportunity for errors during transfer over the internet for future Contributors!
  10. I relate this to one of my favorite quotes from the "Ender" book series by Orson Scott Card (where my namesake comes from): NOBODY, unless they are insane, can truly think of themselves as a "bad guy" and live with themselves on a day-to-day basis. Nobody sane can do that. Sure, we all have faults, and, being our own worst enemies, we know those faults well. But, we explain them away to ourselves most times, we justify those faults. We justify all of our own actions in order to make ourselves the hero of our own story. Even the "villains" in CoX aren't REALLY villains. They all have their own personal motivations that make them the "heroes" of their own story - it's just that their morality goes against the "morality of the masses": The evil scientist who spend his time developing monstrosities ala Frakenstein in his basement, doesn't think he's a "bad guy". He's trying to be the New Prometheus (the subtitle of that original book, by the way), he thinks he's bringing the fire of knowledge to humanity. People see him as a bad guy, because the masses think the idea of "playing God" is immoral. Most "take over the world" villains don't think they are a "bad guy", they are taking over the world because they have a vision of the world. They think there's something wrong with the way the world works (or DOESN'T work, in this case), and they could FIX those problems if only they had the power over the world to do so. The masses think they are the bad guy, because the masses want their own democratic say in the way the world works, and don't want an autocrat/dictator deciding their lives for them. The "out for revenge" villains certainly don't think that they are the "bad guy". Someone has done a great wrong to them or to someone they care about, and they are out to provide "an eye for an eye", because they think that's what's fair, no matter the cost. They see themselves as agents of justice. The masses don't agree to this, because they put their faith into the system of law and order to see that justice is done, and going outside of that system is... anarchy. And so on, and so on.... 90% of "villains" in most stories aren't REALLY evil - they just have a morality that conflicts with the "morality of the masses". The other 10% "just want to watch the world burn", because they're just friggin' insane.
  11. That's a good question. Sounds like a team that had more people than they needed to be effective. I would have told them that, politely quit, and formed my own team.
  12. OMG WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS???!!! +1 Inf
  13. Should have allowed for multiple selections...
  14. In other news, since I've got the whole list again, I was able to update the list of "All Files" to finally be accurate!
  15. Yeah, I get the feeling that any disparities in these numbers are all pretty much accounted for by human error and/or newer people either not knowing or not agreeing with what previous developers did and a lack of appropriate development time. With multiple people involved throughout the life of the game, I'm sure there's been a lot of people in and out, and different design philosophies at play. And I can almost guarantee you with the way that corporate structures tend to work, after Jack left, there most likely was not a single "vision" guiding the game. Because if there was a single vision, all of the discrepancies between powers and power sets would have been looked at and addressed. Just feels to me like the standard corporate chaos that's the result of "get it done now, faster, faster!". No time to "get it right", only enough time to "get it in".
  16. Every time I see "DP" pop up in the title of a forum thread, my innner 12 year old snickers and giggles.
  17. Awesome! I HOPE it trivializes Archetypes! I left before Incarnate stuff, so I never got a chance to play with it. I can't wait to be able to take my namesake back to the Storm Palace and absolutely WRECK those ugly eyeballs!
  18. Update on the archive - got everything unzipped, now rezipping: In other news... looks like I'm about to be pushed to the bottom of the list. Thanks Amatyr!
  19. It's at the top of the one and only page:
  20. Sands of Mu + Flurry.
  21. /JRanger. Repulsion Field is my primary defensive power. No touchie!
  22. That one was actually already fixed, you just have to get the new version and try that file again.
