Focused Feedback: Irradiated Ground
Sovera replied to Ratch_'s topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I may have missed those. My focus has been on Fire Armor (who wouldda guess it??). Do you have something close to a % of how worse beta is behaving opposed to live? -
Focused Feedback: Irradiated Ground
Sovera replied to Ratch_'s topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Bit late now for changes with Page 5 nearing exit, but nothing says the power can't be tweaked after that while Page 6 is being worked on. There are mini patches for power tweaks between page releases. But I think that your argument would hold more weight if you let the math go (let it gooooooooooooooo) and just brought numbers of having tested. Whatever test you feel like, it does not need to be trapdoors or pylons. Only thing it needs to be is something you can do on live with current procced out IG and the IG on the beta server. It is also a lot harder to refute if you slap the results down as any argument that 'it is ok' will have a clear rebuttal and it is now up to the person to show their own tests proving it is, as they claim, fine as is. -

I do feel that there is a bit of bad faith in the argument(s). I've posted a couple of times in this thread and it's been pretty much on both sides of it so it's not like I'm defending or argumenting that the current system is perfect, but... First of all, not white knighting (intentionally at least) or brown nosing, but this is a system that did not exist and now does so instead of growling at the devs it should be a matter of thanking them for having something that did not exist now being available. Second, using pseudo-OCD excuses like 'I gotta have them ALL' is not a valid argument and the whole system should not revolve around it. Like in most things there will be favorites either because of theme or because pretty and people will aim for them. Afterwards there will be less interesting ones but still up for grabs for the lolz. People who will want them all are like badgers who want them all and are prepared for the (very) long haul. The ultra high cost for that one outfit is not that high. It just looks high. Someone said something like close to five billion if I recall correctly. When we have marketeers doing casual challenges 'can I earn a billion in 24h with a new character and no injection of inf?' (spoiler, they did), and then post a step by step explaining what they did and how to duplicate it. Now don't growl at me for saying things as they are. Of course not all have the patience to market and of course not all have the understanding of the nuances, but the 'ebil' marketeers will trip over themselves wanting to teach the secrets of the trade to anyone who wants to make money, their section of the forum is all about tips and things they found and are sharing. It puts things in perspective. And the perspective is that everything done helps in getting prismatics. Today do half an hour of marketing because it's dull, tomorrow do a WST, day after that do 10 minutes of farming (because it's even more dull than marketing), level a new alt, sell merits or use them in the marketing. Traditionally simply doing one repeated Hami a day and one Tinpex grants 320 merits, and these are not high skill ultra spec elite territory like 4 star HMs. Simply turning them into converters and selling would make about 65 million. Two days ought to be enough for a basic outfit. Do a two star HM as well if having the time and/or energy and one costume a day can be done. -

Having different ways to obtain what is needed is still a good approach. One day someone feels like playing a two star ITF and they get some prismatics. The next day they just do regular TFs but the merits and raw info go into buying prismatic. Heck, that +2 HM will also have rewarded merits and raw info that will earn more prismatics. The day after they don't feel like much but choose to run an arc, level an alt, or even farm for ten minutes, and can all go towards prismatics. We are a -little- bit spoiled in that we can go from level 1 with no IO or inf transfers and two weeks later without having set foot in the AE or marketing we can be T4 incarnate (perhaps not all slots though) and purpled out so saying it takes a month to earn a top cost outfit feels like a lot. Just because are on a private server not run by a company who profits by gatekeeping and keeping players online while making us pay for a sub should not mean we have everything handed for free. My opinion. Running HM themselves (not really 4 stars I suppose) only gets easier as well as people gain experience. Gone are the days of three hours and a hundred deaths for a four star. With all said if the token was a physical item (as physical as an IO is) that goes into an enhance/salvage bin and the character that earned it can transfer it to another alt would certainly help the worry of putting so many days/weeks earning something that now needs to be earned all over again if they decide to change mains. -
Looking for opinions on secondary for Illusion Control Dominator
Sovera replied to Ravenwulfe's topic in Dominator
I'm tempted at making an illusion Dom and play it like a ranged Sentinel (yes, fully ranged doms miss out, but, I mean, people do play petless MMS...). After looking at the different choices logically it would be better to pick a secondary that allows for KBs in order to have FF procs to help PA return faster. This narrows things a great deal. Savage was definitely something I felt had potential in terms of theme (ignore the name of the sets for a moment) with more constructs/illusions in the form of hawks, bees and ravens being that the Hawk power does KD. But only two ranged powers in Savage, but since Savage is (apparently) good this is still something to consider for those not gimping themselves. There is Energy, but that KB tax... I mean, I did want KB, but too much is too much. Thorn has the KB and enough ranged powers to stay at range. The cone animates faster than cones usually do and also recharges faster. Icy Assault has no KBs but the ranged attacks are blistering fast and it can do a gatling gun build. Fire is... fire. Still going to be the thing to go for in pure damage. The AoE is the crummy Fire Breath though and crummier Combustion (I don't think it even got the animation shaving that Fire Melee got). I'm thinking that I will go with Dark though even despite not having any KB to its name. It has enough ranged attacks to be at range and the small heal helps with recouping HP lost even staying hovering. -
But will they spit or swallow?

Speaking as a Tanker at least for slotting it remains counterintuitive but Powerhouse will bring out his spreadsheets if +max HP was added to a heal. In terms of slotting I only lose 6.5% recharge, 10% slow resist and 1% E/N resist with frankenslotting Consume to have both endurance and heal stats. Probably worth it since when I just slotted 5 Panaceia my Tanker went up to 3.1k HP. It still would have made more sense to keep the endurance clickie slotted for endurance and the heal clickie slotted for heals. -
Don't make it a City of Heroes con. Make is a Homecoming con. Simplest way seems like not making it a con though. That has a lot of expectations and lots of extra activities. Rather make it a simple meet n' greet, agree on meeting the X in the park of Z city and bring lunch with you. *park is overwhelmed by 500 people showing up*

Focused Feedback: Costume & Pet Reward Updates
Sovera replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Not for this page, but prices like these are only okay when account wide unlocks are on the table. I don't have a glib answer though, but, dunno, purchasing a costume flags the character for a different vendor who 'sells' tokens that can be mailed or bin-ed for other alts to pick up? -
Yes, but, take those posts with a spoonful of salt. It's rather people lamenting we are not longer in the City of Brutes era. Now there are choices. For the sets you've mentioned I'd go with Brute but as a rule of thumb: Scrapper for more damage, Brute for better survival. That said the 7.5% defense in Storm kick helps survival even more (easier to build to 40% defense when 7.5% are accounted for) and WP plays a lot on regen, and regen is based on total HP of which Brutes have more than Scrappers.
-
TW's popularity went down since it was tuned to no longer be an AK-47 in a world of bow and arrows. But I'll let someone else answer that since TW is not a set I play and I'm not into the details of its current ranking.

Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp
Sovera replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Re-tested after the bug fix to Burn. - 4:46 on a pylon. -4:46 on a pylon (yes, again, on the dot) On live: - 4:56 - 4:37 - 4:55 - 4:34 Looks like ST has been tweaked back to how it is on live even with the procs no longer firing multiple times. Trapdoor test: - 5:35 - 6:12 Times on live: 6 minutes. AoE is still the same as on live as well. This was tested on a Fire/MA Tanker. -
Straight up comparisons I don't think so. You can search the Pylon thread in this section of the forums and look for any of those three. I can save you the time and say EM is the strongest ST of the three, WM is (currently) second, the new page 5 BA may just be the second though, and in AoE the new BA will beat handily WM and EM.
-
Also, maybe wait a lil bit because once page 5 hits live servers the new and improved Axe is a smexy beast.

Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp
Sovera replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Take it with a grain of salt because you should, but I happened to be testing this at the same time. Musculature 33% coupled with accolades and Consume made my blue bar hold for the duration of pylon testing (average of 5 minutes beating up something). I did turn off Focused Accuracy though both both MA and Axe made it through. In the past this would work until the 5% miss chance crept up and messed the cycle, but that is no longer the case. I'm not downplaying your concerns or testing though, just reporting what I got. (And yes, I never say no to more buffs) -
I never ever ever ever ever saw rare salvage for 100k. I've seen it start at 1 mill right after HC came out (price limit), seen it go down to 700k, eventually settle at 400k for a brief period then go back to 500-600k and stay there. This claim alone makes the rest difficult to follow.

Focused Feedback: Fiery Melee Revamp
Sovera replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
-res procs are an easy answer to up damage, but it overinflates results and too many choose to ignore it. On a Tanker two -res shaves a whole minute from a pylon, but is not indicative of the set's power in regular play (and has no impact I could find in clearing missions which is what we do 99% of the time). So slotting a -res for these tests and hitting a pylon of all things is a disservice. I'd not slot any, then compare times from live to beta and stick to those numbers when presenting results. -
Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp
Sovera replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm actually pretty specific in numbers and I got all of them posted in this thread. Start by the newest since it's the latest. It's about three posts above yours. It has pylon tests. The one before that has pylons and Trapdoor tests. Also yes, you've missed the new patch notes: This power should no longer summon multiple burn patches. This power should now hit 5 enemies instead of 4. Radius reverted back to 8ft. Procs should no longer trigger multiple times per target when using this power. Burn Flames should now inherit the power Accuracy enhancements. Burn Flames now inherit AT classes, caps, and modifiers. Cast time reverted back to 2.03s. Recharge reverted back to 25s. Fixed a bug where the power was not inheriting damage buffs. -
I rest my case. Though I'll technically grant he is nuetral and not neutral.

Well, I mean, what do you want us to say? The game is an open world lobby where we enter private instances. You're meant to follow this by using contacts, picking missions, go into the instances, do the content. You don't need to team, you don't need to use the same contacts each time. But that's what the game is. It's not an Everquest or a WoW where we take the quests in the open world and do them in the open world. The specifics is that you said 'you will NOT get the money by playing the game' and we are saying yes, yes you will. Just do arcs, do TFs. I literally just said I had 30-40 million the first day of playing a new character and with some already spent by buying stuff. How is this not making money by playing the game? My main income is just jumping on any given TF and do it with others and if that is not playing the game then what is? I don't even do marketing with the merits, I just sell them. Super efficient? No, but I -am- earning the money by playing the game instead of farming. Edit: and at level 50 the double XP ends and the raw money pours in with doing some solo or teaming an coming 5-10 million richer in raw cash even if doing content that is not giving merits as rewards.

That's profiling, Yomo. Vampires are not a hive mind. Some can be lawful evil and some can be neutral snarky.
-
As long as I type '/lfg looking for more to do X' and people show up I feel the game has enough.

Whirlpool is a 'rain' power (despite the graphics) and those are notoriously bad for procs. On the other hand they are -perfect- when wanting to six slot sets that -don't- have damage procs since you're not missing out, opposed to, for example, six slotting the same no-damage-proc in Fireball which would fire the proc much more reliably than a 'rain'. Six slotting Artillery for example is a great way to bump ranged defense but since it has no damage proc is a worse option. Rain powers are great to get the best of both worlds.

You don't need to farm. You can play the game without locking yourself out. I famously have a post where I recount how I started a level 1 character with no IO transfers, in inf transfers, and after the first game session I was level 40-ish, had 30-ish million inf to my name and had already bought a few uniques and slotted them. No farming, no market playing other than selling the enhancers I found. I can try to find it if you'd like, but perhaps you'd like a browse at the guide in my signature.
