Now that ASF went live, what do you think of it?
Ruin Mage replied to Albion's topic in General Discussion
You're not reading them right, Snarky. A PUG group can, on normal difficulty, complete it just fine and get 40 reward merits + extra stuff along the way. The optional challenge difficulties offer more, but they do not need to be engaged. It is at Relentless that is meant to be a top tier challenge outside of some really hard pushing players. Like the whole challenge mode settings is meant to be putting the teamplay back into the game. It's not like that's HARD for a PUG to do. People just need to lose their Council +4/x8 breeze mentality. It's fine as is, unless for some reason you have not a soul capable of stealthing & TPIng and are for some reason pressed for time. -

He has a whole slew of abilities to make him deadly, and even more so when you fight the special challenge version (only seen when you're on Relentless w/ MoASF badge held by the leader) -

Using TFs/SFs that have long been mastered as weight against the ASF is bad. Of course ITFs are super fast. That doesn't mean all future content needs to be fast. Not only that, but getting sub-hour ASFs is about as hard as you make it. Don't have someone to Incan / stealth? Then yes, you're going to take a while. Have someone with incan/stealth? Your team now can get some pretty quick speeds. Dr. Q on average takes 2hrs, give or take some minutes there. It used to be much worse. It isn't now, but the tedium comes from the kill alls. The ASF has never gone above 2 hours for me, outside of Relentess on beta. And Relentless is an apt name for what one faces. The ASF has no kill alls within it and every map is different. -

By lowest he means in Villanous or even just normal. There is a LOT you can skip past, as stated. Stealthing ahead cuts down a lot of the time. -

They'll be looking at the merits for a future reward pass from what I've seen. But 40 merits on its own is nice. It's not Tinpex fast for 80, but it's a good start. Plus all the Astrals/Empyreans on higher difficulties. The badges will be getting fixed come Tuesday, or some are. The only time I've gotten close to 4 hours on the ASF is Relentless on beta. You can do some REALLY big skips in certain missions. Also, I'd do a 4 hour tf if it was fun/challenging. Not sure how harder you'd want it because on paper it's pretty scary. One of the teams that completed it, yours in fact, had it pretty good even with extra settings. However, just because you managed it does not mean everyone else will be able to. It has a lot going on, and not everyone will have the same team composition. If a team can execute it pretty well and keep an eye on each other, then yes it's doable. (For context of those reading this post; There is an extra fight in Ripple 3 that you can do if you have the MoASF fight, but only on Relentless.) random shit below; If you take your time on the missions, then yes it will be long. However, nothing in the ASF is a kill all. Stealthing to final rooms is viable in the first 4-5 missions. 6&7 is where things will slow down a bit. Incan and ATT are blessings on any setting. Recall Friend is also a blessing. Personally, it's fine as-is in length given its no Dr. Q or Synapse with the same mission map 3-5 times in a row. The whole idea is splitting it into two different SFs is ludicrous, but people have long gotten used to sub-hour TFs or even sub-30 minute TFs. Not all TFs/SFs need to be done in under 30 minutes - though I believe it's manageable to get somewhere close to a 40 minute ASF. -
The Reason "Master Of..." Trials Fail (It's the leader's fault)
Ruin Mage replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
There's two distinct Master ofs. The reason why Master of v1 (no deaths, no temps, and no incarnates now) fails is usually because someone got into a pickle they couldn't get out of. Mobs can be nasty if you get cocky, or if you pull too much. Now without a Barrier to save you, stuff like the Rikti or Ghost Widow are back to dangerous form. Someone somewhere forgot that stuff used to be a team effort and paid the price. The reason why Master of v2 fails is because some of the challenge badges are very precise about their meaning & because sometimes you over-burn and overlap two mechanics. Occasionally there's a griefer. This is the challenge stuff like Avoid The Green Stuff, Bunker Buster, etc. If a leader doesn't anything and there's a new guy on the team, well RIP in Pepperoni Slices. -

For Becky; You have to talk to her before moving apst her. Otherwise, she won't enable the way to get her for the final mission. Team leader has to finish her dialogue, then the initial bot EB will disappear. You guide her from start to finish (the computer glowie to complete the mission) and then she appears in the final mission. Guide her to the end of the final mission, and boom a badge. -

That's working as intended. She will ignore -fly and holds during her 3 "run!" moments. -

Ruin Mage replied to Albion's topic in General Discussion
Overall, it's one of the better content pieces I've seen. Without the challenge settings, it sets up the story to come that I look forward to from Cobalt & Piece. However, the real meat of the SF is the challenge settings. It's a well needed refresher even if I've only done Vicious runs so far for Live atm. -
The point is for a challenge. Incarnate powers made these optional settings way too easy. It was very very easy to just pop Barrier and mop the mission up. Master of is back to its original form of requiring some work to complete, rather than being able to autopilot it.

Can the current Devs add new costume pieces?
Ruin Mage replied to LKN-351's topic in General Discussion
From what I have seen in conversations, there are a few standards they have or try to maintain to; Not unique / a signature piece of an NPC's look. This means no Scirocco's scimitar, no Ghost Widow hair, no BAB gloves, etc. It can be ported to all three body sizes without model adjustments Are color tintable No egregious clipping, depending on where its located and what slot. -
The Paragon devs hated the exisistance of PraeInfernal

Do as you wish, to be honest. Multi-verse, multiple planes of exisistance.

The Welcome Wagon for new roleplayers, and old!
Ruin Mage replied to Crystal Dragon's topic in Roleplaying
HO HO HO. -
The restriction came inherently with the TF on a basis that Incarnate stuff took MUCH longer to get - no less T3s/T4s.

You essentially have to beat out the shimmering essences or he will continue to heal.

There's probably more sources that people will find.

Focused Feedback: Dr. Aeon Strike Force
Ruin Mage replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
The normal no hard mode one can definitely be sped up immensely once people get a hang of things.
