  1. No thanks, for the reasons Greycat stated. This doesn't quite work and would require dialogue rewrites on a massive level. This isn't the game for that.
  2. It should be noted (for however many times) that the stance of HC has always been to thoroughly test things, and to do their own stuff. Given the length between patches, they want to make sure each content patch is big and nearly bug free - at least egregious bugs that prevent completion of new missions etc. They also have a very different design philosophy compared to the likes of the other servers. Rebirth is way way stricter to things-as-they-were and using things like the token/reward system from the F2P era. Yes, they have made additions beyond that. However, their approach may very well be different than HC's. On top of that, HC has a very particular pick when it comes to devs compared to the OuroDev servers. I see maybe 1 new dev every few months here versus other servers. If they were to take ideas from other servers, it would still be done in a manner that seemed more their style. All of that is probably-maybe why we're not flooded in "new" stuff.
  3. Tbh, the first TF that needs a rework (maybe a posi-style one) is Synapse. Fuck Synapse.
  4. Requiem is a bit in an odd space. He's got this Nictus in him called the Dirge of Entropy. So ancient evil alien thing bonded to him. The Nictus are just all around bad - look at the Cyst Crystals. Requiem himself does not like obeying - especially to other people. He makes Reichsman kneel to him, but by that time Reichsman is pretty depowered. Plus there's probably bitter fighting between him and Arakhan. I mispell her name, but yeah. It's a little hard to pin point, given retcons but Requiem is power hungry and the Dirge likely wants to flood the Earth in Nictus.
  5. Probably on the 'long term' project docket, tbh. Reworking those TFs would take a lot of time & effort behind it.
  6. 5th Column is now once more led by Requiem, for the record. The most recent split (seen as of DA) was because Requiem wants to lead, and has his own plans. The Council is a paramilitary force with a lot of connections & troops + delving into all sorts of advancements. The most recent one left off was the acquisition of a serum during the Marchand arcs.
  7. The spiritual successors torched themselves.
  8. Other MMO designs do not need to be forced into this MMO.
  9. You can play on as many servers as you want. # of players online does not mean the other servers - which get a fraction of what we get on a daily basis - should just shut it down and stop. What they have does not mean it's as easy as 1-2-3 for it to be over here. To iterate on the last point; HC's stance is thorough testing, careful consideration, and keeping to a design philosophy that they've alluded to through prior updates. They would rather things work and work right - as best as it can at the very least. If something isn't working out they scrap it and take it back to the drawing board. See the Dark Melee changes they were doing and kind-of walked back on. Or any other change they walked back on. Just because one server has it does not exclude it from happening here, but HC will do it on their own time and in their own way if they so desire. Making the 50th thread (I can see that its hard to find these threads as they get buried) on what x server has doesn't do anything positive - in opinion at least. It's the same thing every time - if HC is going to do something like it, they will but at their own style. Hell, it'd be a balance nightmare but my pipe dream is freeform.
  10. Page 3 is the release of Atlantis and the Moon Base. But which issue? 😉
  11. And its not like we don't get new costume pieces (or other things that x server has). We just don't throw out massive amounts.
  12. Listen, I look forward to the day that there are 69420 badges in the game. :)
  13. I think the only "meta" to come out of Hard Mode content - going off previous statements/ideal goals mentioned by Cobalt / Piece - is that the team will be well-rounded to be most efficient/effective. That's not to say a team of All Blasters won't be able to do the content, but focusing down on damage entirely will (or so I hope, personally) cause HM to be just a little more difficult versus a team that has things like debuffs and lockdowns among them. Controllers (or dominators) being what makes a run go from bumpy to smooth is a good thing. Same with corruptors / defenders making things just a little more survivable and all that. If that does or does not include Incarnate level shifts, well we'll have to see. One can still be effective without them, though IMO HM should be where Incarnate powers / level shifts can feel needed outside of iTrials. Much as people have a love/hate relationship with the system, its here to stay.
  14. I believe that HC's official stance, from reading discord posts and elsewhere, is that costume pieces will never be an unlock/earn thing anymore. Badges are an incentive enough. Accolades & Day Jobs give powers (temp or otherwise) There's no real need for added incentive.
  15. Yeah, but why can't they introduce content from x server??? Shitposting aside, this is a good thread Glacier.
  16. Lore/Destiny might be needed, even, to survive/handle "Hard Mode" content. Though we'll see how true that is when it is ready.
  17. I'm sure no one will disagree there, but I could see a...couple issues that the forums would set themselves on fire over - which is how much something is rewarded. Specifically merits - but we'll have to see what happens when the next big patch hits Brainstorm.
  18. I think the 'hard mode' stuff can't reward anything super-duper cool (though this is by opinion and is not factual) - the game is limiting in what it rewards. Badges, merits, salvage, enhancements, and temp powers - that's the limit of it. HC won't lock costume pieces behind anything as far as I've heard. So the reward loop is gonna be...small. If none of those things interest a person, then oh well.
  19. It's weird to see "I hate change." every time threads like this appear. Change is going / has to to happen, or things get stale. HC just isn't changing / adding / removing everything people ask for. Thankfully, it doesn't and never will happen fast - going off the way HC operates shows that they take their time rather than blindly throw out whatever sticks. + Whatever isn't working often gets taken back to the drawing board. HC isn't the sort of server to uphold some nostalgic time-lock - there's ways to host your own server if that's what you're looking for.
  20. Making a server officially an x type of server invites a slew of issues. It does mean making new rules catering to that server type. However, a means to note (when logging on or selecting the server maybe) what server is the community chosen "x" server isn't a bad idea.
  21. It is just people not reading the room and getting upset at something harmless. Far as I'm aware, this isn't happening elsewhere.
  22. Well, if I could toot my own horn for a brief second: The City of Roleplay discord is going to be revamping / remodeling specific channels soon. That's a good way, or should be, to post about characters, groups, and more.
  23. Powerful characters are one thing. It is the use of that power that should be considered. If the powerful character is being The Solution to Personal Character Storylines not related to them? That's a problem. If its a character with immense power but has more meat to their bones? That's not a problem. If the character tries to strong arm their way around to show off their epic skills? That could be a problem. Repeat as needed where it might fit.
